Strength:

Solid vehicle with a good warranty. Front seats a little on the small side but comfortable. Good visibility. Smooth shifting and fun to drive. Even when I had well over 100000 miles on it it still felt solid and reliable. Body and paint held up well.

Weakness:

GMC engine was my biggest concern but it held up well. Thirsty for fuel but reliable. On a cold day the heat was just not warm enough and the defrost often times wasn't powerful enough to clear the wind shield.

I bought this vehicle new in 1992 and traded it in 2000 with nearly 150000 miles. The engine was a 3.1 gmc which other than poor gas mileage and just barely enough power, held up well. I replaced the clutch at 90,000 miles and brake shoes and pads twice. The heating and defrost was always a problem but eventually I learned to live with it. The paint and frame held up well to Maine winters despite all the salt and sand on the roads. The 4wd always got me where I needed to go and even though I had to get out to turn the hubs I kind of miss it.

Strength:

Great looking for a decent price Decent power with the V6 Unmatched warranty

Weakness:

A little wind noise

Paid 24500 including everything, tax, tag, title, destination and registration. Only had the Rodeo for a few days so far, but love it. I got the Rodeo LS V6 4DR 4WD with the comfort package. Dealer also included brush guard, chrome tube steps, sunroof, front and rear door sunshades, and rim and tire upgrades. The options really make this car look fantastic. Had friend that just purchased a cherokee for 11 grand more and he likes mine better, same with another guy who has the Infiniti QX4.

Great value, lots of amenitites, comfortable ride.

Weakness:

Get rid of the fake wood panel.

I recently purchased a 2002 Ls Rodeo. I must say, Isuzu wasn't even on my list of suv's to test drive. I was planning on purchasing a 02 pathfinder. Once I drove the 02 Rodeo Ls, I wanted it. I read all these reviews and I guess you can't make everyone happy. I was really impressed with this vehicle. Lots of power, lots of room, attractive interior, and lots of amentities. If your looking for a simply suv this is it. If your looking to purchase a suv with all the bell and whistle, go look at a x5 or mdx.

Poor Milage after 100,000miles

Awsome SUV. I bought it new in 1994, and just sold it this past week with 112,000miles. Pulled a 4000lb boat around for 4 years, even up steep hills, plenty of power. Very little maintainance required. Basically just changed to oil, several tune-ups, and brake jobs. I really abused this truck, and still never had any problems.

Weakness:

wheels look like mags from 75, small amount of body roll compared to car

when it came time to trade in our taurus we new we wanted an suv. we drove a grand cherokee, which was nice but felt like a pillow. then we drove a cherokee sport and a gmc jimmy. the sport was nice but felt cramped. in the jimmy my head was tilted against the roof and it sqeaked like a mouse. the rodeo had the most room, felt the tightest in build quality, and was the cheapest. it seemed like to good a deal to pass up. and not every other joe has one. very pleased so far

Strength:

Excellent Build Quality, perfect warranty, really powerful V6, Good looking styling, Sport Package makes it look even better

Weakness:

Alarm system doesnt sound easily enough (you really have to rock the car to get it to set off) so if someone opens their door into it, it mite not go off.

I just purchased a brand new Isuzu Rodeo LS w/ sport package for under 26 grand. I had a 2003 Honda Pilot but there were so many flaws in that car i just got sick of dealing with a car that i hate. Got tired of the styling after 4 days, and the interior sucked! I brought it back to the dealer and sold it to a customer looking at a new one for 25,500 $ and went over to Isuzu, traded in my old 96' rodeo and got a brand new one! Nothing compares to Isuzu! Best SUV in the price category and all my neighbors keep looking at it and are interested it buying a Rodeo themselves!

Strength:

Totally made in the USA!! (Lafayette,IN) Powerful/smooth technologically advanced powertrain, very good ride quality. Best price in it's class.

Weakness:

head & leg room a bit tight, brakes take some effort, some interior parts a bit flimsy feeling (inside door handles?)

The Rodeo is the best deal going - given the current factory to dealer cash incentives in my area (NY). Saved over $7000 off MSRP for a loaded 2002 LS 4x4!!!! got it for $21300. We love it so far, very comfortable, lots of power, great handling, soft & smooth ride. Vehicle is MUCH more solid than blazer, explorer or durango & much less costly. Best warranty in the business. Front seat head / leg room is tight for those over 6ft.

WARRANTY- "THAT WILL BE NEEDED BECAUSE OF THE POOR QUALITY"

Weakness:

CHEAP QUALITY- SUSPENSION- VEHICLE HANDLING- VERY OVER PRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET-

WHEN MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT THE SUV, IT WAS THE MOST RELIABLE VEHICLE THAT WE HAD EVER OWNED. THE PURCHASE WAS DONE WITHOUT ANY RESEARCH WHAT SO EVER. THAT WAS THE VERY FIRST MISTAKE MADE IN THE PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THREE TIMES FOR WARRANTY PROBLEMS SO FAR. THE VEHICLE HANDLED VERY WELL FOR THE FIRST TEN-THOUSAND MILES, BUT AFTER THAT THE STERRING BECAME VERY LOOSE AND IS STILL THAT WAY. I GOT TO LOOKING UNDER THE VEHICLE AT THE SUSPENSION, AND NOTICED THAT THE ONLYTHING FOR DURRABILITY WAS A SET OF SHOCKS. I WAS VERY SUPPRISED THAT THE SUV DIDN'T HAVE A SET OF COIL SPRINGS. THE REASON FOR BRING THAT UP IS WHEN THE SUV IS DRIVEN OVER A ROUGH PARKING LOT, THAT HAS A FEW BUMPS THE FRONT END FELLS LIKE IT IS GING TO FALL APART. THE VEHICLE ,IN MY OPINION, IS VERY OVER PRICED. THE MODEL THAT MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED IS NOT WORTH 13,500.00 TODAY. THE SUV HAS APPROX. 21,000 MILES ON IT AND DRIVES AND RIDES LIKE IT HAS 180,000 MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED A NEW DODGE RAM 1500 4 DOOR, FIVE MONTHS AGO AND YOU CAN TELL THAT THE QUALITY OF MATERIALS THAT GO INTO THE DODGE, SURPASSES THAT OF THE ISUZU ANYDAY. IN CLOSING THE ISUZU RODEO WAS THE WORST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE ABOUT THE PURCHASE OF A NEW AUTO.

City Gas Mileage, Spare Tire On The Back Kinda Makes It A Pain In The A$$ To Park, and you have to push the unlock button on the alarm twice to unlock all the doors---gets kinda annoying

There are the good ones and a few bad ones. ITs like that on any non-major car company-- actually, EVERY car company. I have a good one luckily. Bought it brand new with 11 miles on it. Fully loaded it w/ subwoofers, brush bar, tail light guards, running boards, etc... Im glad I put the money into this truck! It is one of the most comfortable SUVs i have ever sat in-- when equipped with leather seats-- If anyone is looking to buy one, I suggest getting an LSE b/c they come fully loaded, cost about 3 grand more, and have a higher resale value. Currently, I have 76,000 miles on it. the ONLY problems I had was a rattle coming from the sunroof, which the dealer fixed just by tightening a screw up there (at no charge). The truck looks great-- very distinct lines that you cant find on other boring designed SUVs. It also has a great engine-- 3.2L V6 which really hustles when you want to get going. It also has a button called 'Power Drive' which allows the transmission to downshift to a low gear by just pushing the pedal an inch down-- very responsive transmission when in Power Drive. It also get pretty good gas mileage. 90% of my driving is freeway and it usually gets 18-19mpg (with a city driving mixed into that) I drive 65 miles per day and I can say I feel fine about going long distances with this truck! Its been indestructable. My step mom has a '96 Rodeo-- which is nothing special--not as much power, and its more boxy, but it has been just as reliable. Well, Im not sure what else to say except I've put a lot of miles on this car, and its been very reliable and fun to drive! Its funny that a few bad eggs could make this car sound so flawed. I assure you, it is an excellent buy-- you can also get a nice discount from the dealers-- I got it for $500 over invoice price. I cant explain in words my love for this truck-- its been the most reliable one I've ever owned
