HONDA PILOT
Strength:
high reliability-HONDA trait, 4 feet across in the back, can lay down 4x6 plywood flat when all seats down. Good Fuel economy compared to some of the other 8 seaters.
Weakness:
have to store the head rests for the 3 seat in secret compartment, so lose a nice place to hide items. THIS CAR/TRUCK IS GREAT. i HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT ( OTHER THAN PAYING STICKER). I test drove the pathfinder, expedition, and highlander, and it was no competition. Even with 3 kids in car seats, I still have plenty of room for everything. |

Strength:
Best SUV in its class. Every automotive publication will agree.
Weakness:
None READERS WATCH OUT!!!! The only person here trying to skew the overall rating of the Honda SUVs is Homer/Seth/Nathan or whatever he's calling himself today. Why else would he write the same comical review several times? There is no way he can tell the reviewers IP addresses. He accused me of being a Honda employee from CA when in fact I live in MA and work for an architectural/engineering company. Email me and I can prove it. He also says that the positive reviews only occur during the week when in fact many of them are written over the weekend. Honda didn't get where they are today by writing fake reviews on web sites. They wouldn’t waste their time. Besides, do you really think people are following the reviews on this site blindly? No of course not. Today’s car buyer is informed and takes a thorough test drive before plunking down their hard earned cash. How do you explain all the positive reviews and best in class ratings from the professional publications? You will not find one negative professional review anywhere. Even the one you point out from Edmunds where the dealer failed to fix a defective part they still had an overall positive experience. How do you explain its highest in class resale value? How do you explain the fact that they are selling all they can make without the huge discounts and incentives of the other manufacturers? And how do you explain the hundreds of thousands of happy new owners every year? Obviously Homer/Seth/Nathan is desperate to tarnish Honda's impeccable reputation. Sorry Homer it’s your opinion against all the professional opinions and millions of happy owners. So if you’ve come here looking for an honest review you will have to sort through all of Homer/Seth/Nathan’s reviews to find them. Even with his dozens of fake posts this is still one of the highest ranked SUVs on this site. |

Honda/Pilot
Strength:
Lots of room for 8 people, the car is quiet and smooth on all roads even uneven bumpy roads, nice stereo, love the heated seats! Great storage in the cockpit area--great for a women whose purse flies around any other car if not secured, this thing is secure now! Good horsepower. No more 10, 20, 25, 30, 60 thousand mile check-ups anymore. All this thing requires is oil changes and its first tuneup at 110,000 miles. Luxury machine for the money.
Weakness:
I really don't have much to complain about...love the car, but Honda should have thought about lighting up the dials on the steering wheel. Everything else is lit up for night driving, but the steering wheel--you can either turn on the lights while you are driving or poke around to make sure you hit the right one button. I suppose this would take some practice after having it awhile. Automatic seat programs for two people would have been nice too since you have to adjust the seat each time you change drivers. Also, when there is about a half tank of gas left, when you stop or slow down you can hear the gas moving back and forth in the tank--this is a bit distracting as you are thinking something is wrong with the car. It is quite loud. We purchased the Pilot after we had been interested in it since its first debut last year. We decided to wait until the 2004 came out so any querks that might have been in the 2003 would be fixed for 2004. We had driven several other SUV's and nothing quite measured up to the Pilot. Similar Products Used: Owned a Honda CRV for 3 years, great vehicle. We have noticed that you don't need an extended warranty with Honda because nothing ever really goes wrong with them. Tested the Nissan Pathfinder, Dodge Durango, Chevy Envoy, Jeep Cherokee (garbage) and Toyota Highlander. We thought the Pilot was better quality since it is a Honda and we were happy with what it had to offer. |
