Strength:

Good acceleration, comfort, ride, noise level, fit and finish, gas mileage, much better then anything else out there similary priced.

Weakness:

Needs a few more inches of leg room in the rear. Heated mirrors and a sunroof would have been nice, but I guess Honda needed to do something to differentiate the Pilot from the MDX.

This is an absolutly fine SUV. I've had the Pilot for a month and have put on over 1500 miles. Not one problem at this point. The SUV drives smooth, handles very nicely, is quiet, comfortable, head and leg room in the first and second row of seats is very generous. Fit and finish is outstanding. So far we have been very happy and I'm glad I bought it.

Incredible SUV - I have owned Ford Explorer and Dodge Durango. I would not own a Trooper after test driving it four times. The Pilot has been trouble free. No leaks, no squeaks, no rattles, only driving pleasure. It is by far the best SUV I have driven or owned.

Strength:

Smooth riding Powerful engine Smooth shifting tranny Seats up to 8 people, realistically 5 adults of average height and 3 of somewhat shorter stature. Nice headroom. Lots of storage compartments. Large windows. Roomy interior. I don't have to shift into 4-wheel drive, it does it by itself. Reasonable price, when compared to similar SUVs.

Weakness:

Shift lever in odd location. Rear center shoulder belt slips out of storage slot and hits rear window. Headlights seem to be aimed too low. Foglights should be standard equipment. Michelins and better rims should be standard equipment. Nice if it had 4 wheel low gear. Could have a quiter ride, might be because bridestone tires.

Let's start this way. I've always owned SUV's and Pickups since I learned how to drive 24 years ago. I currently own a Isuzu Trooper and the Honda Pilot. I also enjoy 4-wheeling here in Arizona. When it came time to replace my wife's Honda Civic, we looked for a SUV. We tryied the Trooper, CRV and the Pilot. We decided on the Pilot LX model. This is our On-road vehicle. We have our Isuzu for heavier 4-wheeling. Although I have taken it out it to the rough for some photos with cactus, and it handled nicely. The VTM-4 kicked in and when though sand and gravel/rocky hills. We've had it for more than a month and we already have over 1600 miles on it. Most of our driving with it is long distance. I have never owned a vehicle that has driven so smoothly, in it's ride and it's shifting. The closest vehicle in ride comfort that I can remember was my dad's Toyota Celica Supra which was back in the 80's. It takes to hilly roads with no problem. We took it up the Flagstaff via Sedona and Oak creek Canyon. It went up those steeps hills with power to spare. It turns fairly sharp, my wife parks at a garage with tight 180 degree curves between floors. She has never had problems with parking it. It has quite a bit of room in it. The cargo area seems to have about the same floor dimensions as my Trooper, but the cabin is taller so there is more room. There is also more headroom and the middle and rear seats are arranged in a stadium seat style, so there is better visibily for the passengers in the back. All in all, I think this is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Honda has a come out with a gem of a SUV.

Weakness:

A Moonroof would be nice!

I have owned my Pilot since 6-3-02. I think the vehicle is absoulty flawless. It is by far the best SUV I have ever driven or owned.I think that the negative reviews on this website are from uneducated people who have never driven any other SUV before or maybe work for Toyota or the domestic manufactuers (who produce garbage on a daily basis). If someone here thinks there is a better SUV out there for the money, Please let me know. I don't understand how the Honda passport(Isuzu rodeo) could have a better rating than the Pilot. I have owned and driven almost every other SUV on the market today.I haven't liked any others nearly as much as i do my Pilot(besides the Acura MDX of course). I think the people who are giving the Pilot a 1 out of 5 are being very unfair and must not really own one.Thats my opinion.

Handles great.

Weakness:

So far uses lots of gas.

Although I have only had the Pilot for about a month I am totally impressed with it. It handles just great and it's very roomy. I especially like all the compartments betwen the two front seats. It's my first SUV and I love it. My son likes it much better than his new Jeep Cherokee. He says the Pilot has a much better ride. Glad I got it!!

NO SUNROOF

AFTER READING THE ABOVE REVIEWS, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THESE ARE SALES PEOPLE FROM OTHER MANUFACTURERS. AFTER THREE MONTHS WITH THIS VEHICLE THE ONLY WORD THAT COMES TO MIND IS FLAWLESS. IT IS EVERYTHING IT WAS MADE OUT TO BE AND MORE. ALTHOUGH A SUNROOF WOULD BE NICE, I CAN ONLY COMPARE IT TO MY LAST THREE UTILITYS. THE RIDE, MILEAGE AND OVERALL PERFORMANCE PUT THEM TO SHAME ( 4 RUNNER, BRAVADA, PATHFINDER) I REALIZE PERFECTION IS WHAT HONDA CUSTOMERS HAVE COME TO EXPECT BUT I WILL SAY TO ALL THIS IS AS CLOSE AS IT GETS!!!!

None so far

Only had it a few weeks, so we'll see how things go. Great so far. I find it interesting that some of the previous reviewers listed a problem with the sunroof. Unless I'm mistaken, the Pilot is not available with a sunroof; at least that's what the dealer told me. Not sure if they're reviewing a different SUV or not.

Strength:

roomy, clean looks.

Weakness:

no ability to adjust second row seats.

I have had the Pilot for almost a month and have only one complaint, which isn't really a complaint because I knew about it before my purchase. It is the fact that the second row seating doesn't have the ability to move up in order to give more legroom for the third row. If you read the reviews here, notice that there are multiple reviews from the same people so don't let it fool you. It's a great buy.

Strength:

Seats, engine, transmission, suspension, contols, sound system, etc

Weakness:

Manual front passenger seat control, and hold up/down window, but this is not a luxury vehicle.

After reading the magazine reviews, I couldnt wait to test drive this thing. I was never able to test drive an Acura MDX because the dealers were always sold out!I really wanted the fold down third row seats, and Honda reliablity. On the other hand, I was surrendering my leased BMW 5 series, whose power and handling were superb. Alas, family requirements warranted the switch. I have only had the Pilot one week, but am pleasantly surprised. The engine is quite responsive, and the ride is smooth. The controls for audio and air/heat are intuitive. I cant believe the sound system, for the price I paid. Nothing has fallen off or apart, or failed to work. I have not found one glitch at all. I have no regrets switching from the bimmer to the Pilot, realizing they are totally different vehicles. I almost bought a Toyota Highlander, but it lacked the third row seats. I highly recommend the Pilot!
