Strength:

8 passenger seating, quiet ride, very big inside compared to other mid-size SUV's.

Weakness:

Rear window does not open, accessory power jacks turn off when key removed, styling is a bit bland. Be careful of overpriced accessories from dealer. I found the complete Honda-Pilot tow package with coolers and harness for $441, close to half what the dealer wanted. Hopefully there will be more color options in the future as well.

It has only been a week, but so far no problem. Quiet with smooth ride (typical Honda). Power is great, but I can't really put my foot into it until engine is broken in. I seem to be averaging around 20mpg in the city, but when you way 4400+ lbs. what do you expect.

ELECTRIC PROBLEM, Could Use More Power

Pilot is a great SUV, but I am also having electric problem. I know I am not the only one, dealer says he has two other Pilots with the same problem. My Honda dealer is great, but mechanics can not locate the problem. It's been in the shop 4 times. Maybe Honda should fix the problem before starting selling this truck to the public.

I wondered if anyone else has noticed something strange about the reviews of the Pilot. All the negative reviews of this vehicle all seem to come from people (or someone) in Michigan. I'd like to say for the record that the Pilot is the best midrange SUV out there. I've checked out many of them and the Pilot offers the best vehicle for the money. The ride is pleasant, the look of the vehicle is first rate, the interior is roomy and versitle, it comes standard with lots of thoughtful extras, and it handles like a dream. I don't think it's fair for posters to downgrade the vehicle just because they had a hard time with a Honda dealership...that's not what this site is for.

Solid "thunk" when closing the doors If I left the lights on, they would shut off using the remote lock. Did I mention passing logging trucks while going uphill in NB ? No sweat ! Did I mention seating for 8 ? Did I mention the visors that cover both side windows? Radio is easy to program, @ home & while travelling. Also has CD & Cassette.

Weakness:

Be aware: every time you remove the key the power outlets shut off. Yes it's in the Owner's Manual (OM), all 378 pages, LX & EX versions. Tough reading. Why does the ventilation system still blow air in after being shut off ? Pg 127 of OM states that it can only be shut off temporarily...F that, I've got another 500 KM to drive...Honda are you listening? When will the Hwy mileage achieve Transport Canada's rating of 27 MPG ? My experience is 1/2 of TC's & less than Honda's rating also. Problem's with HomeLink...others? I thought both front seats were powered

Just returned from a "break-in" trip to Atlantic Canada, ~ 4500 Km (2700 miles for the non metric people), total 8500 KM (5,500 miles) over 5 weeks of ownership. Flawless performance over terrain that varied from straight & level asphalt of Ontario to the hills of New Brunswick to the sand lanes of every where I windsurfed Lots of room, lots of hill climbing power (hauling a trailer). No domestic turbulence enroute..lot of room, very comfortable seats, great lumbar support, smooth ride, positive handling, places to put the drinks & secret packages, great viz, the interior noise is so low I thought I had a transmission problem..was my GI tract ! Yes this is a real review, you can contact me @ ted.douglas@wescast.com I'll provide a 20,000 KM update...give me 2 more months ! Yes I test drove the demo during the day & night, on & off road, (feel sorry for the dealer)

Weakness:

Quiet ride, good gas mileage, theater like seating, good interior engineering, smooth engine, etc.

This is absolutely the most pathetic SUV in the world. What the hell were those writer drinking. They made this the SUV of the year! What a joke. I should have bought an EXPLODER, TAILBLAZER OR LANDBRUISER. This SUV does not drive like an SUV it is too quite. I want to hear the pavement and feel every bump as I drive. There are so many compartments that it gets hard to decide were to store things. The gas mileage I am getting is not even close to the SUV's 17/22.....WHAT....SUV should get around 8/12. This should be in the car category cause it handles like a car. Please do not call it an SUV.

I find the negative reviews of this vehicle a joke. This SUV is head and tails better than the rest without a doubt. I've had mine for nearly four months and I haven't had a moments problem. I love the ride and the look of the Pilot. The sound system is fantastic, I can talk on my cell phone without the other party hearing any wind noise, the Pilot soaks up road bumps with ease...it's an all around great vehicle.

This review site is bogus!! All the negative reviews have an axe to grind or are trying to keep the values of their existing vehicles afloat.

Not great.

Weakness:

Workmanship. Materials. Design details.

I am beginning to lose faith in Honda after living with our Pilot for last 2 months. I just expected better workmanship and materials. This car is nothing special. Well...it's more like some Ford SUV. Some of the problems: broken plastic trim piece, wind noise from right rear window and other little things. Now, discovered that the rubber frame of windshield is cracked. Power windows too slow. Accelerator action very rough (no fine control at low speeds).Too much cheap plastic.

Can't find

Reading some of the reviews sounds funny to me. If someone has a problem with a dealer then I think is better to write to someone else but not puling a car under the line. Buy the way I don't like them neither. I spend a lot of the time to get the information, to test ride the other SUVs, to get the quotes from a dealers but after a comparison with other SUVs I found the Pilot the best. Not only because I liked the design of the exterior and the interior but also the price for the size, brand, quality and standard features were better from other Pilot's competitors. After I bought the one I just proved to myself that I made the best decision in my last few years. I'm not writing this review to prove someone this is the best SUV on the market, but for this money you’re not going to buy something better. Just look on the Acura MDX (nice but more $) and Honda Odyssey. They have the same engine and similar base and they are so popular that their price is still at, if not over MSRP and they are on the market for some time. Need more prove? I don’t.

read those two negative reviews makes me think they have other issues that don't relate to the pilot. i test drove the mazda tribute is nice...its a good buy for an es at $23k but its noisy...i can hear the engine transmission and road noise...not good...otherwise its peppy ...handles great and looks great...the acura mdx at $36k was very nice...luxurious to look at and feel...but had some road noise also...the pilot ex at $29k is very very nice...not as luxurious...bit it had no road noise and handled as well as the mdx if not better and the transmission and engine seemed to be a better match in the pilot...very sporty and powerful...personally i still like the chevy tahoe Z71 best...very very very nice...handles rides and looks great...especially in black...oh yeah!!!
