Strength:

Stylish, Good Ride, Engine has good power, Overall I like the SUV, it has nice power, no problem off roading through mud and climbing mountains.

Weakness:

Drinks gas like is water. But then again what SUV doesn't do that. Can't really complain there. Nice power but could use more.

29k out the door. I'd recommend the Passport if you want a Mid-size SUV. It has more room than most SUV's in its class. Drives smooth and clean with no problems. No problems off roading. Its stylish with good looks. If your looking for a lot of room remember this is a mid size SUV. If you require more room full-size is what your looking for. I don't have any complaints on this SUV. I've had no problems. Overall its a very good SUV.

I've driven a Tahoe and comparing to that is: Of course the Tahoe is more roomy but the Passport IS a MidSize SUV. Little bit better gas milege. You can get a fully loaded Passport cheaper than a Tahoe (almost a 10k difference).

Strength:

- great look and style
- good off road capability (with city limits)
- V6 engine with some power

Weakness:

- Engine can be very loud
- Stock stereo not very good system
- Gas Guzler
- Cheap interior

Over all, I like this car. It is really all you need for an SUV within the city without having to pay an arm and a leg. Sleek and stylish, great options. Paid 22,000 with tradein.

Overall great drive. Starts every time. Brought as a lease return. Honda dealer was very good at taking care of a vibration in the front end, balanced and alined front end, turned out that tire rotation fixed. To soon to tell otherwise, but I an very glad I brought this car.

Strength:

Good ride-little vibration, quiet engine, great AC, good looks.

Weakness:

Anemic engine, only get around 13 miles per gal., never starts with the first turn of the key, uses 1 qt of oil per 3000 miles after only 59k miles on engine, despite oiling-leather interior continues to crack, the radio is very low on the console-to the point of having to take your eyes off the rode when changing channels, expensive repairs.

My Passport has overall been reliable, but has not lived up to my expectations of Honda quality.

Strength:

Love everything about it, so far!!!

Weakness:

I've it for less than a month so I haven't found anything yet.

I wanted a SUV without paying the SUV price. I also got it for the Honda name of excellence and so far it's living up to it's name. My wife has a 1995 honda accord, so as you can see we are a honda family. The only complaint that I have is the worthless anti-theft system. I had to install a new one myself which is ten times better. I would recommend this SUV to anyone and put it up against any of these 20, 30, G's vehicles.

Strength:

Overbuilt strength and off-roading ability. Very comfortable on road, and very peppy/agile for its size.

Weakness:

Anemic electric window motors, doesn't have all the amenities (i.e. rear wiper, intermittent windshield wiper setting) that a vehicle of this price/quality should.

Overall this is the best vehicle I've ever bought. It may not be perfect, but it's amazingly rugged and reliable and a lot of fun to drive. I take mine off-roading frequently and have made modifications to help it out, but even before the modifcations I was amazed at the abuse it could take and how well it did. In sheer ruggedness I think it outshone all the other makes of vehicles on the trail, even those more well known for off-roading ability.

I bought it fully realizing, BTW, that it was a rebadged Isuzu rodeo. I think that overall it lives up to its Honda badge in quality -- definitely as far as the engine/drive train.

Similar Products Used:

It's the first SUV I've owned, but from countless trail runs I can compare it to just about every 4x4 made. It's more rugged and reliable than almost any in a trail situation even though there aren't as many options to build it up.

Strength:

Drives like a car. Powerful. Tracks great in the snow.

Weakness:

Poor Gas mileage ever since new 15mpg average, uses oil like crazy since new - Dealer says its common with the Passport. No INTERMITTENT wipers..? What's that all about in a $24000 vehicle. Lifters start sticking and clicking loudly at about 40,000 have to run oil sluge cleaner through to eliminate and use synthetic heavy weight oil. Check Engine light is a normality.

Bought it new in 96, have 112,000 on it now. Overall it's been a good SUV, other than the weaknesses listed below. Replaced the starter at 95,000, needed a heater core at 60,000. Check Engine light is constantly on, has been since 60,000. Good things are that I still haven't had to put brakes on it....112,000 on the original brakes and there's still 20% there...!!! Still runnin' on the original clutch...wow..!! Both sets of tires have lasted 50+K with good rotation. Needs intermittent wipers bad.. Bought the 90,000 7yr extended warranty, however only used it on the heater core and Valve cover gaskets at 60,000. Would I buy another one...?? NO. Although I do like the looks of the new ones. I'd buy a 4-Runner, much nice and better quality. However it's been a pretty good car for us, always been reliable, expecially with over 100K.

None similar, If I had it to do all over again, proably would have spent a little extra on a 4-Runner, I think they're better rigs.

Strength:

Comes with skid plates, tow hooks, two cup holders, large mirrors, doesn't require constant repair and maintenance, and has a CD changer that won't skip on even the roughest of roads.

Weakness:

Tiny radio controls/buttons, hood rattles

We bought the Passport with 50k miles on it after the repair payments on our Ford Explorer began to exceed the montly loan payments. While a little shorter in the cargo area, it is better than the Explorer in countless ways, including more stable and comfortable ride, and the door handles and luggage rack do not rattle while driving (although the hood does).

The interior is the best that we've seen when looking around at other SUVs in the same class. The engine has good power at 205 hp.

After driving it off-road, it seems very capable in the aspect that it had relatively adequate clearance to negotiate high ruts and boulders and holds very well in lower gears. The only pitfall is that the anti-lock brakes can freak out over some of the bumps, but they still work. Everything underneath is nicely tucked up and out of the way and the skid plates, already installed, are made of metal, not plastic like the Pathfinders. Most of this doesn't matter though since most of these vehicles only see potholes on the way to the mall.

A lot of people on this site have given the Passport a bad rating for the ride and gas mileage. First, the gas mileage is about 3 to 5 miles per gallon better than the Explorer ever was. It averages 18 to 21. The ride is far better than any 4x4 truck of the same year. I think a lot of these people bought a Honda wanting a rugged looking car and instead bought a tame looking truck. If you want something that rides like a car, drives like a car, and want gas mileage like a car, buy a car.

Strength:

My passport hasn't broken down, yet. It has plenty of room. I only paid 5,000 when its worth 8,000 because a good honest preacher got a good deal from someone and decided to give me one.

Weakness:

It seems like it eats gas. Mine is 5 speed and long drives get old. It's old!

I love my car for an SUV. This wasn't my choice in car but it is nice now that I have it. I think it would be great if you have children. There is a lot of space. THe passport drives smooth. I would definately buy one brand new.

Weakness:

Everything about this vehical has a problem. windshield wipers, tires,
turning, lack of power, bouncy ride, wind blowing vehical!!!!!!

I have never been so disappointed in a vehicle. I've had the passport for
two months and have visited the service department four times. The ride is
bumpy and there are all kinds of squeaking sounds. I feel that this vehical
is not very sturdy and will not hold up well in an accident. My advice-
buy something else!!!!! I have owned a number of cars and none have given
me as much trouble as this one has. I've purchased all of my vehicles new
because I don't want to deal with unknown problems. I bought this car brand
spanking new, but I feel like I'm riding arounding in a used car. I have a scheduled appointment to fix something and they have yet to call me because they are waiting on the parts. I'm tempted to hand in the keys on this one.
