Are there any?

Weakness:

Gas Mileage--no leg room in the back seat. No arm rests--not a comfortable care at all.

I have had trouble twice with the gas guage. The Dealer fixed it once and it is bad again. I'm driving a $30,000 car and can't tell how much gas I have left. Honda was not nice at all. This is not something that I have done to the car. Several other things have had to be replaced. I am disappointed in Honda. I will never buy another one. It is a gas hog!!!!

Nice Handling, Pretty Quick Off The Line, Lasted For 170,000 miles!! Trouble Free Truck, Nice Design. High View of the road

Weakness:

only got about 8mpg in all city driving, and 17 on the freeway... not too bad considering my lead foot. Uncomfortable seats

I had my 95 Passport Ex V6 for over two and a half years. I bought it used in 2000. The owner wanted a new passport, so i bought hers. Excellent truck! It started to have problems recently at 170,000 miles!!! That with off roading, some time in 4 wheel drive, and lots of speeding around at excess of 4,000 RPM. Great truck! I just wish my new Honda Pilot was as reliable. I really miss my Passport. I was actually going to buy a new one but the dealers were all sold out of them for good! I miss it :-( any car that lasts for 150,000 miles or more is good. It could've had more power, but it was a GREAT truck, and had good power for its age. i was just going to fix the problems with it but decided to just get a new car... my guess is the passport i had has another 15 or 20,000 miles left on it. it was still running like a champ!

City Gas Mileage, Spare Tire On Back Kinda Makes It A Pain In The A$$ To Park, But You Can Get It W/o The Tire On The Back.

The Isuzu Rodeo and the Honda Passport are the same car, so I thought I'd let every Honda Passport driver in on my experience w/ this truck. There are good ones and a few bad ones. Its like that on any non-major car company--- actually EVERY car company. I have a good one luckily. Bought it brand new with 11 miles on it. Fully loaded w/ subwoofers, brush bar, tail light guards, running boards, and MUCH MORE. Im glad i put the money into this truck! Its one of the most comfortable SUVs i have ever sat in--when equipped w/ leather seats. If anyone is looking to buy one, I suggest getting the top of the line model b/c they come fully loaded, cost a few grand more, look better and have a higher resale value. Currently, I have 76,000 miles on mine. The ONLY problem i had was a rattle which was fixed by the dealer by tightening a few screws (at NO charge) The truck looks great-- very distinct lines that you cant find on other boring designed SUVs (perfect example is Honda's new Pilot-- UGLY) The Rodeo/Passport also has a GREAT V6 Engine with more than 200hp which makes this truck really powerful. It also has a button called "power drive" which enables the transmission to downshift into a low gear by just pushing the pedal down an inch or so-- very responsive tranny when in Power Drive. Winter Drive, another mode that is comes with, starts the truck off in second gear so that u wont spin ur wheels in the snow (helps on 2wd versions). It also gets decent gas mileage. 90% of my driving is highway and i usually get around 19mpg w/ some city driving mixed into that. freeway it gets about 22 and in the city it gets about 13. Ive had it as low as 9mpg on a tank tho, and as high as 27 on a tank. I drive 65 miles her day on average, and i can say i feel fine about going long distances in this truck! its been indestructable. My step mom has a 96 Rodeo V6 (passport) which is nothing special-- not as much power, and its really boxy but its been just as reliable. Well, theres not much more to say, basically u get the idea that im completely satisfied w/ this truck--- actually im happier w/ it than i thought i'd be with ANY car. Its a wonderful truck and fun to drive! Its funny how a few bad eggs can make this truck sound so flawed. I assure you, it is an excellent buy-- you can get a nice discount from the dealers if you negociate.

Gas Mileage-- no worse than other SUVs 13-15mpg city, 21 freeway Rear Window Washer Nozzle doesnt emit strong water

I like this truck a lot. I just spent $2,000 upgrading some things in it and adding all the dealership accessories since they Passport will not be sold after 2002. I suggest buying one now before its too late. The new Pilot from Honda, is the UGLIEST SUV out there. LUCKILY they didn't keep the Passport name or else I'd be embarrassed to own a Passport. 1998-2002 Passports are great to drive. Mine has been very reliable, they look great, get okay gas mileage, have terrific performance, excellent off road climbing abilities (if you ever plan to go off road) and a very usable interior with a 'NO B.S.' attitude. I suggest getting an EX-L (comes with bigger tires, fully loaded w/ leather, highest resale value, and looks the best) The new ones even have 2 tone paint as a no charge option. Isuzu (the makers of the Passport) have finally worked out all the problems with the truck when they redesigned it in 1998 and as each year goes by, it seems more and more of them are popping up. I've had the chance to speak to many owners while they were exiting their vehicles, and like me, they love their's. I looked at an Explorer, a RX300 and a Nissan Pathfinder. The Explorer's ride caused my girlfriend to get a stomach ache, and its narrow stance and boring design held no place in my heart. The RX300 drew my attention because it was a luxo SUV for $32,000 but when I drove it, I found why it was so affordable. The gear shifter was awefully placed, and the blind spots were horrible. It felt very light, and when you floored it, it almost felt like you were going to go for an airborne journey... not a solid feeling car. The RX300 also grew on me after I stared at it for a few minutes. It looked very feminine and the front end was poorly designed. I wasnt going to spend my money on a lifted camry (which is what the RX300 is) I then drove the Passport and fell in love with it... and i knew it was an Isuzu from Day 1. It handled very nicely, had great performance, very nice interior, a great price tag, and very masculine styling. I thought I'd try out a Nissan Pathfinder while I was in the market. I liked the way it looked, but it was so severely underpowered, I couldnt merge onto the freeway below 5000 rpm. I also didn't like the rear exterior door handles. So, I went to the Honda dealership, and proudly bought the Passport.

Too many high dollar problem. Not reliable, each day expect somthing else to go wrong. Thanks for nothing.

Where do I begin? Shame on Honda for such a piece of crap. Within the warranty period I experienced the vehicle shutting off for no reason, refusing to start, this is in Atlanta's traffic, not a good thing. Explaination from the dealer's technician 'I haven't heard of a Passport doing that', yea right!. In the mornings when I would press the breaks both signal indicators would come on, and stay. Still no explaination from the dealer. Shortly after the 36K warranty expired, the compressor went out, $1100 plus, ABS system went out and fearful of the Honda technician lies, it's still out. One of their own technician after hours just unplugged it, said it would run the battery down if it was left plugged in. I've notice that it's burning oil, because there are no noticable leaks. The gas gauge does not work. Each problem has been estimated to cost over $500. Perfect way to make major bucks, make a crappy vehicle and charge out the %&#@ to repair it.

Strength:

Been driving the car defective for so long now I cannot recall any of its strengths any longer.

Weakness:

Expensive repairs / tune-ups. Uncomfortable for long distance travel. Honda does not give enough support to this vehicle since it is actually an Isuzu. This is a disappointment because Honda puts their name on the vehicle.

Overall the car seemed like a good car, I kept up w/ the oil changes and tune ups. At about 45,000 miles mileage I started getting a loud clunking noisy(shifting 2nd to 3rd, and when coming to a stop) that made the car feel like it was slamming around as it shifted. It was extremely loud and the clunk (feels like it is coming from the rear)is really a very violent unsafe feeling. Once I power off the car the problem stops for maybe a week or so. I have been taking the car to the dealership for about 10 months and nothing is fixing the problem. They removed and after market alarm saying it could have a short making the transmission jar. Even though the alarm is disabled. When that did not fix it they relubed the driveline. W/ in one week it came back. They did the two recalls for the vehicle, did not work. They then suggested 800 miles after my warranty expired that I need a new transmission, only 90% sure that it may fix the problem and at a cost for me of $2800. After 10months of taking the car to the same dealership too many times to count, I asked the service mgr if they could see if this is a known problem. The general mgr engineer for them came back w/ that it is a known characteristic of the car. It is the torsion bar and it is one of the cars mechanical characteristics that will come and go and I should not be alarmed. It is not known to be a safety problem and they have no fix for it. If I would had known that I would be driving a vehicle that was going to be slamming me around, I would not have purchased the vehicle. It makes it even worse that Honda is not fixing the problem. I have contacted America Honda and received no help or a return phone call from them. I am currently taking my vehicle to a smaller shop that has been running test on the vehicle free of charge until they can find a fix. The car passes diagnostics when this problem is ocurring. If anyone is experiencing a simlar problem. Please email me if you have found a fix.

Whoever is stating that these crappy SUV''s are great to drive should shut the heck up! This is the worst automobile ever produced. It has been nothing but problems from day one!!! It all started with the gas gauge not working, so they replaced the fuel injector and the computer chip. Next, all the freakin'' recall parts and the air went out and they had to replace the entire cooling system. Then, the day after the warranty was over, the ABS modulator would not shut off without removing the fuse. Of course, being a 2000 dollar part, I decided to go without it. Now, right at 65K, the engine light comes on and will not go off. I HATE HONDA! They should recall all of these and give us back our money. Honda Passports are really the pick of the litter. Thanks guys, keep up the good work and don''t forget to screw yourself. :)
