Honda Element EX 4WD AT
Strength:
More room than you think, every seat will lay flat, the rear seats can be flipped out of the way or removed altogether, FLAT FLOOR, stadium like seating, no carpet, decent power
Weakness:
could use a passenger side armrest, keyless entry is an accessory. The best vehicle I've ever had (this is #18). I have NEVER had so many gawkers and rubberneckers look at a vehicle of mine before. All positive responses! Do yourself a favor and buy one of these vehicles. If you have a naysayer come up on you, show them the inside. They'll leave impressed. Strength:
Great interior design (winter here is rough on a car) & those in the backseat really enjoy the vehicle.
Weakness:
Mileage is a bit less than was estimated by the manufacturer. Also, since this is a new category for vehicles (not an SUV, not a Truck, etc) be prepared to get a lot of looks. For some reason, very ignorant young males seem to think it's perfectly acceptable to say "It's ugly" while they are driving ten year old Luminas... I bought the Element the first day it was available and have not been disappointed. The vehicle is flawles. |

Strength:
Versatility and function. Plenty of room and you don't have to worry about staining anything since it all cleans up with soap and water.
Weakness:
Needs an armrest on the front passenger seat and remote entry. I'm told I can purchase a wide arm rest for the driver's side that extends to the passenger side, but haven't seen one yet. The remote can be installed after-market. I like this car more each time I drive it. My kids ride horses and were always getting in my other car with mud and horse you-know-what on their boots, dirt on their clothes, etc. Since everything inside is washable and the Element has a rubber floor board, it is not a problem. I have a 1986 Jeep CJ-7 that I have now owned for 17 years. I rate the Element right up their with my Jeep in terms of "coolness" and function. I usually configure the back seats with 1 up and 1 down; this gives my son a seat in the back and alot of room for the stuff that seems to accompany us everywhere, especially our 80 lb. dog. The 4-cylinder engine is fine, not like the V-8 in my last car, but it gets us where we are going. Also, my insurance bill on the Element is 1/2 of what it was on my Mercury Grand Marquis. I'm 47 years old and was one of the youngest people you'd ever see driving the Mercury (no blue hair). Now I find myself being the oldest person you'll see driving an Element. Weakness:
to many to list I bought the element for moving my animals and spouse back and forth to our country home in pa. It is great as far as being roomy, but has the single worse suspension of any vehicle i have ever owned. The engine is very noisy, and so is the truck in general. The sunroof is in the back of the vehicle, something my two parrots, and two dogs might enjoy, but does nothing for me. The c.d. player has skipped since the day we drove off the lot,and we were told that thats what they do. Overall I feel that honda missed the mark with this one,and feel that the reasonable price drums up the old expression you get what you pay for. I do not recomend this vehicle to any one. Honda Element 2WD-EX
Strength:
Excellent Handling, estable, excellent suspension (precise and good feel for the road). Good gas Mileage (60 Miles more than the 4Runner). Good AC, Decent Stereo, 2-AC adapters and a MP3 Player (my son hoofs up its game boy to it and listen in stereo). Plenty of leg room and head room. Excellent engine performance.
Weakness:
Doors take time to get used to (entry and Exit of rear passenger) but no a bid dea. Key-less entry should be standard. Passenger Arm rest is missing. Cup holders should be bigger. Car is noise and you can feel the wind drag the car (but not worse than a van). The rear fender is kind of weak. Gas tank cover should have a key standard. I rode the Element to Boone, North Carolina for spring break with wife and 2 children (6,8) approximately 1,600 miles round trip from BOca Raton. I did a similar trip 2 years ago with a leased 1999 Toyota 4th Runner. We traveled with a Thule Cargo Box (20 cubic feet) on the roof racks. Comparing with 4Runner, The Element wins in confort and versatility. My kids slept in the car like never before by fold back the rear seats fully. One night the four of us slept in the Element at a rest stop. We slept so good, that I suggested to my wife to sleep in the car in our vacation (obviously she declined). I'm a surfer and MTN Biker and I have never been able to sleep confortable in car until now. It's amazing the confort. My kids love the car. The car is just a joy to drive, we drove through mud, rain, hill tops. It has the power when you need. We were averaging 80 mph on the road. We were also carrying 3 MTN bikes in a installed hitch. This car, to my surprise, is a great family car and very safe for the kids since they cannot open the rear doors unless the front door is open also my kids cannot lower the rear windows, keeping them safe inside. Finally, every body stares at the car, especially collegue girs, which is fine with me, being 47 years old. The botom line, I did not want to settle for a van, and I did'nt want to spend $30K+ for a SUV. I'm glad I purchased the vehicle, I'm glad I waited for it. Strength:
So roomy and easy to keep clean.
Weakness:
Needs to come with more accessories. Key Less Entry a must with EX model(Just added it in) Should have the option of navigation system as well as an entertainment system. Spedomiters are a bit hard to see during the day. Sunroof should be in the front and more rim options. This is a great car. |

Honda Element EX 4WD
Strength:
Honda fit and feel. So reasonably priced. Decent fuel economy. Unique design. Tons of interior room. Flexibile use of interior space. Short turning radius. Great stopping distance. Suicide doors.
Weakness:
Mostly minor things. Could use a boost in hp. Passenger arm rest. I love the rear sunroof when camping, etc, but would love one up front also. I am in that position more often. Power lock/unlock on passenger side. Standard keyless entry on EX model. Steering wheel could tilt higher so obstruction to instrument panel is lessened. Total RIOT to drive around town! Everywhere I go people are looking and pointing. They even come up to me in the parking lot. It handles well. Zero to 60 is good. I purchased the side steps, rocker panel strips, roof rack, fog lights, and rear spoiler to iven up the rather plain exterior appearance. Interior add ons are carpet mats, drivers arm rest/compartment. I have transported many big items already that I could have not have transported in my Dodge Dakota. At least not if I wanted it protected from the outside elements. It's so refreshing to be driving a vehicle that doesn't look like something that everyone else is driving!! Plus, when compared to other so called cross over vehicles, I have 20K more in the bank!! This is definately a vehicle that most people won't understand!! And I hope it stays that way! a ton of cargo space. loud stereo system. very good handling. gas mileage is ok. easy to clean.
Weakness:
keyless entry a must, and is on backorder. it needs a sunroof up front. too many accessories, more should be standard. I like the Element due to it many interesting features it has such as the seats and storage compartments. my radio went bad after 17 hours of ownership, they replaced with a new one. I have an orange pearl color element which really makes people look and ask what is it. Many say it looks like a little hummer or a Land Rover. Makes me smile when they put it in the same category. It is a very fun car. the accessories i added were fog lights, roof rack, and mud flaps for $425,$275, and $90. So i paid about $800 below sticker price. |

Honda Element EX Auto
Strength:
Stereo, room, cool exterior (mine is the sunset pearl - orange), easy to manuever rear seats, easy to clean. Plus you feel like a celebrity...everyone stares & points at you!
Weakness:
no keyless entry (I just got it added to my car for about $160.00 & it's so nice), passenger armrest, driver's side vanity mirror, pockets on the back of driver's seat. organizing tray for rear of car (things slide around), front sunroof I LOVE IT! When I first saw it the best way I could describe it was it's so ugly it's cute. I love how roomy it is, the stereo system is awesome, & when I moved recently it was a HUGE help. The rear seats are so easy to lift up & create more room to store things. I was recently involved in an accident that totaled my car, so I was looking for a really safe truck...I feel VERY safe riding high in my new Element. Similar Products Used: Kia Sportage |

Strength:
Nice looking. Easy to drive, easy to clean (I guess) have not gotten it dirty yet. Safe! Good milage! Fantastic maintenance program just what I was looking for.
Weakness:
You have to concentrate right now because it is so new people give it a double take. You have to ignore their gazes and watch the road. It's unigue. It drives very well. 110000 miles between tune ups. My daughter looks like she is riding a golden palomino but it is not really expensive if you are urged to get an SUV by your family. As the one paying for this I trust Honda Safety concerns. I think my girl is loving this and that makes me happy. Minimalist assessment: it is a 4wd pick up that is completely enclosed. Maximum assessment I wish I was young again and my dad bought one of these for me. Similar Products Used: Only the mean looking hummer machine comes close. This a a modern day Dune Buggy but so much more. |
