Strength:
Very reliable. Hardly ever problematic.
Weakness:
The exhaust system is always going. Other than that, standard problems as it ages. I would recommend this product to anyone in need of a new or used car. I have had it for 10 years and it was the best thing I ever bought vehile wise. Similar Products Used: Toyota SR-5, Toyota Tercel, Toyota Corrola |

Great car to drive. Good gas mileage on the highway ranging from 18.5 to over 20 MPG at freeway speeds! Lots of room.
Weakness:
Firestone tires! Avoid them if at all possible. Electric Window switches and drive motors. These are supposed to have been upgraded in later cars. Steering arm problems (Clunking), parking brake holding problems and noisy front end drive issues. I''ve been told that the later cars are better with most of the problems solved! Great car to drive! Lots of room, the 4 wheel drive features are excellent. Replaced the Firestone 265r16''s with Michelins after 13,000 miles. The Firestones were cupped, rib worn, vibration problems, etc. after rotating every 5000 miles. When the spare tire was pulled for replacement, the edges of this tire were ground and it had not been on the road ever. The Michelin''s still stuck 10/32 of rubber remaining, with no sholder wear, cupping or related vibration problems at 38,800 miles!! Lots of problems with the window regulators and rear drive motors. Replaced both along with the window regulators. Stearing link arm was replaced at 30K. Supposedly, this should be a lubricated item, but is not! I was told that GM had no fix for this, but was working on the problem. Parking brake did not hold. Adjusted and was told by the Dealer "not to drive it with the brake on"! This was never done. The parking brake issue seems to be another unsolved issue. At 32K on a drive through Utah, Wyoming, Montana, a loud whine and "rumbling" sound came from the front end. Much of this trip was in "Auto 4WD". Dealer replaced the left front wheel bearing. The noise remained as well as the rumbling sound. Disgusted, I traded it in at 32,800 miles before the warranty expired! Similar Products Used: GMC Auto 4WD Van. No problems through 70K miles. GMC 1500 4WD pickup. Great truck! Chevy Astro Van. No problems. |

On the road, cars quickly get out of my way! But walking down the street, I keep my eyes on my shoes. The high maintence costs involved with frequent repair and high gas consumption on this vehicle is a fair trade for the compensation it gives me for my small genital size and lack of security. Strength:
great for big guys - lotsa room - never left me stranded - great long trip vehicle
Weakness:
gas mileage sucks around town - brakes are a problem for these vehicles - leather from that year did not hold up - seen better on newer Burbans I''ve had this Suburban since the end of 94. It''s been a great vehicle and very dependable. It just turned over 140,000 with limited repairs. Great around town and even better on road trips. Similar Products Used: Explorer - Blazer |

Lots of power. Plenty of room.
Weakness:
Too many maintenance problems. Leather in the seats cracking after 15 months. Rear end yoke seal replaced twice for leaking. Complete brake job at 21,000 miles. Not under warranty. It is currently in the garage for a second brake job at 35,500 miles. At 25,000 miles it started stalling at stop signs and going into right turns. The sensor and sending unit in the gas tank had to be replaced. Similar Products Used: Traded a Bronco in for the Yukon. Big mistake. Wish they still made Broncos. YUKON SLT 2WD
Strength:
SMOOTH POWER, CRUISES AT 70MPH AROUND 2,000 RPM. RELIABLE, DURABLE, VERY GOOD AT HAULING PEOPLE AND THEIR JUNK. 2WD IS EASY TO GET IN AND OUT FOR MY WIFE WHO IS ABOUT 5'4". GOOD ALL AROUND VISION. EASY TO DRIVE AND PARK. I AM 6'2" AND WEIGH 240 LBS. AND I HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM. PLENTY SPACE INSIDE BUT SMALL ON THE OUTSIDE.
Weakness:
NO LATERAL SUPPORT. THIS WAS IMPROVED ON THE 2000 MODEL! DRIVER SEAT NOT WIDE ENOUGH (SIT ON INSTEAD OF IN). IMPROVED ON 2000 MODEL! LIGHT STEERING FEEL AT HIGH SPEED (WOULD LIKE MORE SECURE FEELING AT HIGH SPEED). WOULD LIKE A BETTER SOUND SYSTEM! I BOUGHT THE YUKON AT THE END OF 1999 WHEN THE NEW 2000'S WERE COMMING OUT, SO THE PRICE WAS UNDER 30 THOU. I LIKE THE POWER OF THE TRUCK, GREAT TURNING RADIUS, GREAT ALL AROUND VISION, VERY USEFUL AND DEPENDABLE. HAD NO BRAKE PROBLEMS TO SPEAK OF (KNOCK ON WOOD). I HAVE ABOUT 27,OOO MILES ON IT NOW WITH TIGER PAW UNIROYL TIRES AND AM BEGINNING TO THINK ABOUT A NEW SET OF WIDER TIRES. I ADDED A K&N AIR FILTER AND A FLOWMASTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT. THE LOW RUMBLE OF THE EXHAUST SOUNDS LIKE A CAGED ANIMAL AND THE YUKON WILL JUMP ANYTIME YOU NEED THE POWER. I REALLY ADDED THOSE PRODUCTS FOR BETTER GAS MILEAGE AND ONLY SAW BETTER GAS MILEAGE WHEN I SET THE CRUISE ON 73 MPH FOR A LONG DRIVE TO TEXAS (20 MPG). I LIKE TO DRIVE THE BEAST EASY AROUND TOWN AND OPEN IT UP ON THE ROAD AND NO MATTER HOW I DRIVE I USUALLY GET 15 MPG WHICH IS NOT AT ALL BAD. I USUALLY BUY NEW EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS BUT I MAY HOLD ON TO THIS ONE. I HAUL EVERYTHING YOU WOULD PUT IN A TRUCK FROM LAWN MOWERS, TO BEDS, TO OUTDOOR TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT. WITH THE 2ND ROW OF SEATS DOWN, YOU REALLY HAVE A LOT OF ROOM, AND ANYONE CAN PLACE THE SEATS UP OR DOWN WITH EASE. MANY PEOPLE PUSH THE QUALITY OF FOREIGN VEHICLES, BUT NEVER SPEAK OF THE COST OF PARTS AND REPAIR. THE QUALITY OF THIS VEHICLE IS EXCELLENT, THE PARTS WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE AT A REASONABLE PRICE, AND I WOULD PUT THAT BIG 5.7 LITER MOTOR UP AGAINST ANY FOR SMOOTHNESS AND POWER. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS A GOOD DEAL AT THE TIME, IT HAS THE HEAVY DUTY TOWING PACKAGE, LEATHER, POWER EVERYTHING, AND THE LONGER I HAVE IT THE MORE I LIKE IT. GET ONE, I THINK YOU'LL LIKE IT TO! Similar Products Used: 1985 FORD RANGER (TRASH), 1994 FORD F-150 (LIKED THIS TRUCK),1998 FORD F150 EXTENDED CAB LARIAT (LIKED STEERING FEEL AND TRUCK, GAS MILEAGE SAME AS MY YUKON), 1993 NISSAN EXTENDED CAB (TO SMALL). Strength:
The strengths would have to be the mileage at 15 mpg (I was used to my older truck which had much less), power, comfort, looks, and the extras.
Weakness:
As sure enough, the BRAKES, this wasn't so much a problem for me, as I was used to bad brakes and knew to give myself stopping time. We're changing to carbon-metallic brakes (supposedly really good) When I first saw the truck, I was impressed with it's looks most of all. Then after driving it I realized this was a great truck. We bought the 1999 Yukon SLT used, it had 53,000 miles on it. So far the truck has been running in perfect condition. I've had absolutely no problems and I've had the truck for 6 months. This is a good truck for any person who wants power, comfort, and cargo space. Similar Products Used: 1986 GMC Suburban Sierra Classic 1500 - power (yes) |

GMC Yukon 4WD
Strength:
Roomy
Weakness:
Tough to keep in alignment Our '97 Yukon 4dr 4WD has been a good vehicle. Even with 4WD suspension, it is easy to get in/out. The 4WD offers great footing at my wife's horseshows where mud is often a problem. At 108k miles it has held up well. We use it to tow horses and a ski rig. It handles 5000 lbs (2 horses + trailer) with little effort...but we service the transmission often to avoid problems. Similar Products Used: 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee-also a great truck. Nowhere near the power or towing capacity. |
