Strength:

Lots and lots of storage space. It's bigger than most sardine cans out there on the roadways. Nine passenger seating has been wonderful!

Weakness:

Gas guzzler....but we knew that when we bought it.

This has been the best vehicle I have ever owned! It has pulled our travel trailer for most of the 9 years that we've had it. It's travelled over 110,000 miles, and still keeps on truckin'. Sure by now it's got some rattles...but I can live with that. This has been the most reliable vehichle I've ever owned!

Strength:

leather seats, bose stereo, xm radio, visibility and power.

Weakness:

Need to upgrade the wheel package from 16" to 17 or 18. This is the only shortcoming.

I hesitated getting into a vehicle this large, but I had to be able to carry 8 people with luggage. Looked at the regular Yukon, Ford, and Toyota. Dollar for dollar, this offers the best of what I am used to for a vehicle. It is extremely comfortable, the Bose stereo with the XM feature is great and it handles great for it's size. It also looks great. The Ford felt heavy and underpowered and only had the power third seat as a "neat" feature. Toyota had more lugguage room than Ford and it appears that Ford was Toyota's model. Also down on power. Have not noticed any piston slap some talk about and don't know anyone that has experienced this.

Strength:

Haven't found any yet.

Weakness:

Had it in the shop the first week of owning it, had the driver and passenger panels replaced because they were loose and rattled, airbag on passenger side may deploy when driving or may not deploy when in an accident, the trim on the outside was falling off,the button for the windows had to be replaced, sometimes would work sometimes not, the rubber around the doors was falling off, water pump broke (32,000 miles)

By far this is the worst vehicle I've ever owned. I've had the piece of you know what in the shop for repair more times in the last year then with any other vehicle.

I have replaced: Brakes 4 times, Brake computer, exhaust, head gasket, alternator, a/c compressor 2 times, driver's seat broke off mounts, seals on front drive, A NEW TRANSMISSION!. No joke... this all happened.

Power, power and more power. Space, towing ability, looks.

Weakness:

like everything else this big...fuel economy, your not buying a Geo metro! And I have to say the brakes are a little on the soft side.

This truck is great!!! It has gone everywhere I've wanted. Pull play toys along whithout you knowing they are there. Bought the truck with 145,000 miles on it and the only thing I have had go bad with it was a intake leak. You can put everything, including the kitchen sink in this thing. I love this truck!

Strength:

Comfortable, Quiet cabin. Although somewhat "plasticy" Very smooth, pleasing ride. Particularly on interstate. Plenty of torque for mountain driving. Proven, easy to maintain V8 with a stellar reputation.

Weakness:

In keeping with the masses brakes are "mushy" and lack the response and feed back of competition. 4-wheel discs would be nice on a vehicle with this curb weight but you know, I can live with them. This is not a sports car and is not meant to be driven like one. Yes, it will get up & go but use a little common sense.

Potential Buyers please dont be discouraged by some of these negative reviews. Look...the Yukon/Tahoe is one of the best selling autos in the country. With so many on the road it''s hard to imagine a 100% track record. A perfect example of this is any Ford Explorer site. One could spend literaly weeks reading through complaints about problems, safety issues, poor design, poor quality and mechanical reliability, recall issues and the like. Definetly worthy of the term Ford "Exploder". This has also been my experience. And this applies also (From what Ive heard and read)to the newly redesigned truck. Unbelieveably there are still people whom I have spoken with who have had great LUCK with the Explorer and It still remains the Best selling SUV in the U.S. GO FIGURE...Anyway, take my word for it. The Yukon is a far superior vehicle. In every way, shape and form. The pree-2000 models may lack the fit and finish and drivetrain refinements of the new but do come equiped with components that have been tried true for decades. This is true of most Chevys''. My 96 Lumina trade with a 3.1 Ltr that has been around in some configuration since early 80''s went 130,000 miles: Desert, mountain, off road to mine sites and very hard driving without A SINGLE problem related trip to the shop. This is the honest truth. Oil changes maybe every 8,000 miles. I think the only positive thing I did for this car was a Transmission fluid exchange @ Jiffy Lube every 30,000. The point is you can not go wrong with this SUV. 350cid engine will run forever with a little care. Same is true for Tranny. With most GM products of late, reliability is not a problem and when something does come up, parts are relatively plentiful and inexpensive. 48,000 miles without a problem. Amazingly no rattles yet

Strength:

Solid, safe, smooth ride...very comfortable leather interior.. roomy rear cargo area. quick acceleration, quiet cabin. Lots of aftermarket performance parts.

Weakness:

Gas Gas Gas!!! @ $1.49 a gallon it will take $31 to fill up 20 gallons. (26 gal cap.) My range bet 75% city and 25% hwy with traffic is about 235 miles when the gauge hits between the empty mark and the quarter mark.

Bought this truck at 34,000 miles...The truck which its the SLT model rides smooth..also drives like a car. Only bad thing is the gas mileage. 11 mpg to be approx and that is 75% city driving. But its a huge truck so you gotta expect that.

Quality vs Price, just isn''t there

I purchased this heap in August 2000 and traded it in December 2000. This was my first time buying an american made car and this made it my last. I''m still receiving recalls on this junk. So buyers beware..the quality that went into putting this SUV together just wasn''t there. For 32000, I DONT expect the door panels to rattle.

Absolutely None. DO not buy this suv or anything made by GMC. You''''ll be sorry if you do.

Weakness:

The entire vechicle is a weakness.

READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!! Please DO NOT buy a GMC. This suv has been the absolute worst piece of %$#@!@# I have ever owned. In the interest of time I will simply say that this suv has been in the repair shop more than on the road. I can''''t sell it, lemon law it, or even get rid of it through arbitration with the BBB.Don''''t get stuck like I did. The list of problems is emense and they keep popping up. Also, please stay away from North County GMC in Escondido California. They are worse than the suv itself. They will rip you off and their service derparment is an absolute JOKE. This was a brand new truck off the lot. Not a used vechicle. I can''''t believe GMC builds such junk. Please please please take my word for it, DON''''T BUY ONE OF THESE OR ANYTHING FROM GMC. LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Great looking truck when it has aftermarket parts on it. Engine is very powerful.

Weakness:

body seems to dent easily

I bought this truck in dec of 2000 I have had no problems with this truck thus far (except for u-joints) probably because of my 6inch lift 35inch tires I have put just over 30,000 miles on it and would recommend the truck to anyone.
