Strength:

It has one powerful engine!!

Weakness:

It needs shocks. It tends to sway a bit.

I LOVE THIS TRUCK. I have a v-6 multiport engine and it can really get out of it's own way. It had 87,000 original miles. I had to put $600 worth of work into it. Breaks, altenator and a cv joint. It's a sle model fully loaded. I don't think I could ever go back to a sedan again.

Strength:

DEPENDABILITY...no if ands or buts about it

Weakness:

S-15 has a small engine (stock) after 100,000 miles need a major tune up and it's good for 200,000 and so on!

When I bought my Jimmy the dam thing had only 107,000 original miles but it was a piece. The person from whom I bought it from took better care of his fence that his vehicle. So far i have put in about $5,000 and it runs like a dream. I have the little 2.8 but it whoops the 4.3's ass! No major performance parts, it does 0-60 in 10-15 secods depending on the weather. Out of all my homies I'm the only one with a GM product, they all seem to have Ford, Isn't it funny that I'm always fixing their cars, and not mine?

Strength:

I love the leather and the ride. I has lots of room for my two kids and a lot of power for hauling our pop-up.

Weakness:

The spark knock is a bit of a concern, I am afraid if I buy this vehicle that when we pull our pop-up camper, the spark will tend to worsen.

I am thinking about purchasing this 1996 GENEVA Jimmy from a family member. This vehicle is the only one that was sold in Western North Carolina. I pulled the history of this vehicle and the ongoing problem it is having is a spark knock, the GM dealership has tried to fix it for a long time with no avail, can anyone tell me if I should be concerned with this problem? When we put 93 octane gas in it, the spark knock stop. Thank You

I bought a 1991 GMC Jimmy 4 door,SLE,Fully loaded in 1991. Over that time I have had very few problems. I personally love the car. It has never been a problem for me. Sure a few tune up here and there, but thats it. I here all this crap about what others are saying an if you ask me, these people don't know jack crap about cars. They don't know how to take care of them properly and that whole bit. Well I'll tell you all one ting, my Jimmy has over 750,000 miles on it. It's been to Colorado and back several times. To think a simple California boy like me can do that. I love this car soo much an it's treated me great, so what did I do? 2weeks ago I bought nother GMC! I still have my jimmy, but my new car is a sweet ride too. It's a GMC Seirra, 4 dr, ext bed, dually with mud tires on it. so boo yahh!!!

Strength:

Torque!Torque!Torque! The best(in our opinion) for a 6 cylinder! Interior is Grade A. Easy(except for that one spark plug) to do your own tune-ups and oil changes.

Weakness:

Getting someone into the back seat(ours is a 2-door)

We loved "Jim-Bob" from the start. **** REPAIR TIPS FOR GMC JIMMY ***** 1.If you have an (electrical)egr valve "go bad and need a NEW one", which we were told, check to make sure that a piece of carbon hasn't gotten stuck in it. A new one can run you $150.00 and that doesn't include labor. A few simple tools and 30 minutes(to remove valve, remove carbon chip, and replace valve) can save a lot of dough! 2.If the transmission "goes out and you need a NEW transmission(read: $1800-$2500)", which we were told, first have someone make sure to check out all of your sensors including the throttle position sensor. These sensors can make it seem like your transmission is "going out". We are told and research has shown that Jimmys are good at having their sensors go out, before the transmission actually needs to be replaced. This Jimmy has been the backbone of reclaiming this old farm that we recently bought, with the pulling, hauling, pushing, yanking,(we use it to haul our water in a 450 gallon tank on a trailer). We have even used it to pull an old house wall back up into place. It has been a very solid truck and hasn't grunted even once! Thank you Jim-Bob!! :)

Strength:

you call it

Weakness:

everything if have to say the clock.

It's funny that GM is still building this so call of a truck. I thought, yes, thought a SUV truck is to handle well. From what I know because I am a owner of a Jimmy, this so call tuck is full of junk. Buy America people say, but if they all were to builds trucks like the Jimmy America will be at a lost. No more Jimmy for me.

not so good in the corners

I love my Jimmy (my sticker says everyone loves the Jimmy) At first I wanted a car but once I got in and drove the Jim, I feel in love. I have a 2 door model with a V6 vortex and 5 speed manual. I love it. I don't like how they can roll easy but if you know how to drive I don't think that its that big of a deal. My Jim gets up and goes. In the snow the 4 wheel drive works like a dream. All I wish is for a sunroof ;)

Look at the review!!!

Very upset with this product's ability to "stay together". The driver's door hinge has had it (rattles). The passenger door has had it (rattles). There are squeaks from the back end. The rear wiper has quit. It does not start well in cold weather, and therefore, not always reliable.

Where to start..........

Biggest hunk of junk I have ever seen. Bought this SUV for my wife and 2 kids. Starnded them the second week, when the dealer fixed the fuel module ($350) . Have had to replace the oil cooling lines couple weeks after that ($600). Now the nti lock brakes dont work, another sensor went ($300) bucls. plus need two new tires an the back, the dealers tires are cupped and vibrate the damn truck. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BUY A GM product. Pile s#@$#@%$#% on wheels.
