Beautiful truck – lot’s of looks. Rides great. Super on long trips. Gas mileage acceptable - aprox. 22MPG. Love the size and maneuverability. This is my wife’s first new vehicle, she picked it out completely, it is truly her pride and joy - IF it starts, and her worst enemy when it doesn’t!

Weakness:

Wish I could depend on it starting – I’m tired of holding my breath when she’s driving it for fear of the “my truck won’t start again” phone call. Not much else to complain about – no other problems – YET - but after reading some of these I’m holding my breath again.

We have a problem with a no start condition on our 02 Envoy we bought in June 02. 1st time (10/29/02) it started after about 10 min. of moving the gear shift back and forth. 2nd time (11/2/02) it was towed to dealer and they "reprogrammed" the computer. 3rd time (11/29/02) the tow driver tapped on the solenoid a few times and it started. He said the solenoid is too small to handle the load and it sticks. We drove to dealer and left it 2-3 days. They said it was a loose connection on main computer. 4th time (1/17/03)I had the truck due to bad weather, I tapped on the solenoid a few times with a rod from the tire change kit and it started. I told dealer I wanted a new starter and solenoid. We'll see if that works. Wouldn't it be interesting if a tow truck driver actually knows more than the dealer tech's or GMC engineers!

Strength:

looks and comfortable ride. Mine is black, by the way.

Weakness:

Lets see!! I'm on my THIRD, thats right third transmission, the radio and CD player don't always work properly. The engine is horrible as far as cold starting is concerned. On a cold start, there is NO power until it warms up and for the last month, it randomly stalls right after I put it into gear. The gas milege is terrible for a V6! It drinks gas like a V8 at least. and of course customer service sucks.

I've had an AWFUL experience with this otherwise beautiful truck. On top of that, the customer service personel has had awful attitudes and has been unhelpful to say the least!!!

Strength:

great ride, great handling, great towing, great fuel mileage, safety, everything great about this vehicle.

Weakness:

I believe some of the weakness is in the drivers and not so much in the vehicle. Only had it to the dealer for routine maintanence and couple little minor items that were fixed quickly by my dealer which is great. Build a relationship with your dealer and they will take care of you. And for recalls only one and that is the best way gmc has for fixing the concerns that they do have so they take care of me. I now have 18,000 miles on it and still have no problems. GREAT JOB!!

I love our new envoy it has been absolutely great for everything. It has lots of power i pull my 20 foot ski boat with it and you dont even know it is behind the vehicle. We get 15 mpg pulling the boat and 20 mpg whe we are just riding around. The vehicle saved me and my wife's life about 3 months ago we were traveling down interstate 20 through the heflin to anniston area and i admit i was traveling too fast. It was raining pretty hard and we came over the big hill called heflin mountain and there was a big pileup of vehicles in the road. It was so close i didn't even have time to think. The only thing i could do was slam on the brakes and try to steer and what a fantastic job it did. I actually steered around about 20 cars but the biggest worry was everyone behind me that could not stop. I managed to get by the other cars by going off road and got far enough ahead and pulled off. We are still here today because i was in this vehicle. I would not dream of having anything else.

Many shop vists. Recalled before we even bought it. Now it's been recalled 4 times..

This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned. I lost all faith in it after it's 2nd recall. It's now on number 4. As we were driving it away from the dealership at 44 miles, the cehck engine light came on. We called OnStar, they diagnosed a transmission problem. That was it's first overnight stay at the shop. (For several days) It seems as though no one stocks parts for this cow. At 23k miles, it's in the shop for a diff leak. It's had coil packs replaced, tranny removed, ect... I would not recommend this vehicle. When a customer buys an Envoy, they should get 2. One to use while the first one is in the shop. As the man from GM arbitration said. That's why we have a warranty... Durwin

Quiet, good pickup (after it warms up for a few minutes), extremely comfortable.

Weakness:

A few months into driving the vehicle we noticed a rattle that happened frequently but not always. The dealership can't find it and we've learned to live with it. About 6 months into driving it, periodically when putting on the left turn signal, the hazard lights come on. Twice a malfunction switch was replaced and still the problem exists. The dealer says if they can't see it they can't fix it. Not bad for a vehicle that cost almost $50,000 !!

Very comfortable ride with all the fun gadgets. We took it to the west coast this summer and were impressed with the handling.

Strength:

Although not as comfortable as our Yukon Denali, this is a great car for getting around town and I love it when I need to deliver plants and gardening materials to our back yard, which is accessible by a dirt road up a steep hill.

Weakness:

Engine revs very high when car is cold, has little power until the revving stops. The trips to the dealership are doing me in, this last time was the only time they offered me a rental car.

My car is back at the dealership(Bay Buick in Torrance) after losing all power when driving on the freeway at 65 mph. They have yet to diagnose the problem and fix it, but this is one of a multitude of electrical problems I have had. It started with 2-3 tows to the dealership when the battery was dead. That was finally diagnosed as a short in the battery and it was replaced. Then the passenger door lock wouldn't open unless manually operated, that was replaced when they detected a short in the mechanism and also replaced the mechanism for the dash lights which weren't operating either. The first problems were inconvenient, this last one is scary!!!
