Strength:
Great power, comfort and style. Ergonomicly comfortable. Except for forward drink holder. GMC will support you (while in warranty).
Weakness:
Technicians (I say technicians, NOT mechanics) must rely on the computers to tell them the problem. If it runs slugish and the computer reads no problem, then the techs are CLUELESS! And then they just hand the vehicle back over to you. Great ride with style to match. Comfortable but not enough to put you to sleep. Definitly not an off road vehicle. One major problem though, Both head lights have burned out the wiring harness, not once, BUT TWICE! GMC did not have clue as to why. WHY? Look at the gauge of wire used in the head light housing. They paid more attention to the speaker wire than the lighting wire. GMC repaired it promptly and gave me a loaner car for the day, both times. Similar Products Used: GMC Yukon |

Very comfortable, smooth, quiet ride. Styling is unmatched, size is perfect for small families, powerful and responsive engine.
Weakness:
GAS!! Cup holder is in the way of the shifter, 4wd needs rethought, entrance to the back seat is tough for adults. I bought my 02 Envoy 6 months ago as a dealer used vehicle. After having the vehicle for about 2 months I noticed that it would go from 2wd to 4wd every time I drove it in the rain, then after it happened about 5 times, it suddenly quit. Just the other day after 6 months and 32,000 miles the service 4wd light came on, the amber light by the 4wd switch that tells you which 4wd you are in went out, the green light that tells you that your headlights and fog lights are on went out, and the reverse lights quit working. I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer tomorrow to get these problems fixed. It is a shame that such a great vehicle is having these minor inconvenience problems that I have to take time out of my life to get repaired. Similar Products Used: GMC Sonoma |

Envoy EL SLT...Loaded UP!
Strength:
Onstar is awesome, Bose sound system is the bomb. Heated leather seats, dual climate control, very powerful engine, all the bells and whistles are nice too.
Weakness:
A/c could be a little better. This vehicle is like any other SUV a big gas hog, could have a bigger gas tank. Wind noise should be simple to solve. Nothing else but personal preferences. I totally love this vehicle. Just bought this Envoy 2 weeks ago and so far everything is great. I read all of the comments on this site before my purchase. After a couple of test drives and alot of comparison with other SUV's I fell in love with this vehicle. I have noted a few things that are a little bothersome. First is that the vehicle has a little wind noise driving at about 65 mph. Second is the AC is not as powerful as my wife's Ford Windstar, but it does a good job especially having rear air. Third is the vehicle sometimes rev's up high when starting and takes about a minute or two to come back down to normal. I bought this vehicle with all the options available and I really love this vehicle. The air ride that the vehicle has is like driving on air. The bose sound system is out of this world. I hope that all of the problems that some of the other Envoy owners had on earlier models were fixed before I purchased mine. One other thing I might add is that when I purchased my new Envoy I got the dealership to put a Denali grill in my vehicle and it is very sharp. Vehicle is a definate head turner. For now no major problems with the vehicle, but if I start to have any I will sure post them here. Similar Products Used: 93 Toyota pick-up, 95 Chevy Blazer, 99 Ford Windstar. |

Very comfortable ride. Quiet engine, with lots of power. Averaging 19 mpg in city driving. Solid
Weakness:
Occasionally when vehicle is cold, the engine revs extremely high. When I start driving it, it continues to rev high, and it doesn't seem to want to accelerate. Has been back to the dealer once for the problem, but it is continuing to do it. Overall excellent vehicle. Luxury features you might expect to find on a more expensive SUV. Eye catcher |

Fast Car. Nice Style. Nice Leather Seats & Power Equitment. Nice Back Seat Controls For Air & Radio.
Weakness:
Expensive to fix. Dented Bumper $700.00. Expensive to oil change. Only 15 mpg. And like only 18 gallons tank. Step gets in the way if your tall. I have a SLT and it has power controls(including mirrors) which needs to fixed. Overall its good. This car has a lot of POWER. 270 housepower & it is quick. Nice style outside and in. Its nice because it is not square inside like the other GM cars. Priced paid $33,000 & 0.0%. I might have a lemon because I brought this car twice to the dealership for mirror problems and it is still not fixed correcty. After the third time I get a NEW CAR. Sticker Price $37,200. Overall; Not Bad. Questions? email me: flynstyle@aol.com |

GAS TANK WAY TOO SMALL needs gas every 260 miles Cup holder is blocked by shifter. Lots of blindspots. Air conditioner is WEAK at BEST Only gets 15 miles per gallon even on the highway I never have gotten more I fell in love with this vehicle when I test drove it. I kept running out of gas and needed and had to fight for a new sending unit. The vehicle uses so much gas and has such a small gas tank. I live at the gas station. I had to prove to them that the car was broken since their computer said it was fine. I had to go to the dealership and pick up the mechanic and take him to the gas station with me each time I needed fuel. Then they believed me. The best part is I pulled into my driveway 2 times with 1/2 tank of gas and when I went to start the vehicle again it said low fuel and I was out of gas. I called roadside assistance which comes free for one year with the vehicle. Guess what - they only bring you gas if you run out on the road - not at home. I went through this for over a month. Finally, they put a new sending unit in the car. I picked up the vehicle and before I got home the Service Engine Soon light came on. Apparently they didn't connect something when they dropped the gas tank. So again I take the vehicle in for service. The code is cleared and they find no problem with the vehicle. I pick up the vehicle and within 24 hours the light comes on again. I call and they give me an appointment for a few weeks later. I take the car back and no problem. I pick the car up and the next day same thing again. Now I ask you if this is what you expect after you spend $39,800.00. I certainly did not expect this. Everytime I get gas the attendant hates me because it keeps clicking off and often gets over filled because they dont know when it is full. But, they can't figure out that one either. They say everything is fine. I do love the vehicle but I think I have a lemon. All I want is my money back Similar Products Used: GMC JIMMY |

The rubber on the running boards is coming up after only 2 months. Worse still, rear passanger seat angle causes great discomfort and pain to those in the back seat and may have caused a blood clot in my father's leg. Watch carefully. Don't let anyone sit back there for every long. This could be very dangerous. The car looks good but problems are too many to name. |

Horsepower,Handling. looks great, comfortable smooth ride, leaves everyone standin still at the lite and love those 17 inch tires.
Weakness:
No interior storage, cup holders could be in better area.I average 17.8 per gallon hiway and city driving, wish it did better on the hiway after 200 miles the gas went to 17.9 and I have avg'd 18.2 at 55mph turning 1500-1700 rpms. I love driving my Envoy,it handles very well and really hugs the curves. It has a lot of get-n-go. The looks are close to a much more expensive SUV.The first month I drove it the instrument panel did not work on the way home, after sitting and restarting it has worked without fail. Electrical malfuntion? Only the once. After a few months the door refused to lock or unlock except for manually. Then windows did not work or started to work by themselves up-n down. Pulling in the driveway and shutting off the engine resulted in the radio turning off,it is suppose to play till doors open. As all this happened in a week I got it to the local dealer and though I was without the vehichle for three weeks they did manage to fix all the problems, After I called GMC to complain as I was tired of hearing that they were not making progress. They also got me a shop car to drive at their expence after i paid $327.00 for rental insurance on a toyota Corolla. I am back in the GMC and it seems to be working and driving like a dream machine. The front end does make a sound when turning slow over bumps like something hitting and rubbing otherwise turns are awsome, overall seems to be a good product. Air bags were defective, The problems delt from Recall: The fractured control arm Gas Guzzler All windows made a hissing sound I was intrested in this vehicle as soon as it came out. I agreed to a 3yr lease @ 500$ per month. Three days after having my vehicle I was told I had to bring it back to my dealership that there was a recall. There was a hairline fracture in the control arm. So I was without a vehicle for 30 days. May 9th My 2002 Envoy was involved in a rollover accident. I was the driver of the vehicle when it fipped 4 times off the higway into the median at speeds fifty mph. I don't remember much from the accident Execpt for the problems with my breaks and my Airbags NOT deploying. The vehicles black box is being investigated to determine the problem. I was lifted to University of Michigan and endured 4 major surgerys to my Left Arm, Hand and Elbow. My arm was flung out the drivers window and was crushed. The side seat airbags could of saved my arms destruction. I will not regain 30% use to my fingers and arm. I can no longer |

cup holder location intereferes with shifter Only 260mi per tank of fuel, tank way too small Hatch strap and console latch are "mickey" Transmission revs too high before shifting...with no load I let off gas so it shifts quicker and reduces RPMS Several observations:(6k miles) Engine makes a metallic tapping sound when cold..dealer made note of it on WO Fan locks up when cold making a "wooshing sound" dealer states fan is controlled by computer and cannot change it.He states "they all do it" Most of the fender and door fits vary as much as 3/16"Door seal loose Air conditioner cannot cool properly on a very hot day Lumbar section of drivers seat protrudes outward creating excess pressure on back. Had mine reworked (removed some padding) at an upholster shop. He said this is not the first Envoy that was reworked. Shifts from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive for no reason Similar Products Used: S-10 pickup...The Envoy really disappoints me and I was driving GM products since 1966.
