Strength:
The Bose Sound System. It does have pep but at a substantial price. Corners well
Weakness:
Bad paint Wheel wells are falling off Cheap interior materials, carpet already looks old also leather seats. Interior doors parts falling off. Electronic driver memory has no memory. Idles poorly and noisey Almost died several times coming to a stop. The brakes fade while depressed. Small space for driver considering overall size. Steering has gotten loose. Just received a recall notice in the mail. Woo is me!!!! Don't waste your time and money. Especially don't purchase from Victor GMC I come from a long line of Chevy and Pontiac drivers. I have always had a great experience with the dealer and the vehicles, until now. Victor GMC is the dealer everybody warns you about. To top it all off this vehicle is falling apart a 2300 miles. I have never been so disappointed. Similar Products Used: Chevy 1500 truck and Tahoe Z71 |

Weakness:
Bumper broek out. Doors not sealed. Running boards lifting. Doors will not shut completely unless SLAMMED. Our passenger rear done did not open at all all the sudden. Had to take it to service dept. After driving our Envoy less than 3 months our bumper began carcking away. We took it into our dealer and they said gravel was getting up under the back bumpers and breaking the bumper away(literally). GMC will do NOTHING to help -no repairs or anything. Now our bumper is about 15% gone. There is a serious design flaw and poor chice or materials. We can not keep driving this vehicle lile this and GM could care less.We are now taking our case further and try to get them to buy it back. Strength:
Awesome power, great styling, super smooth ride.
Weakness:
Horrendous gas mileage. Since we have owned this vehicle for such a short time, I don't yet have any basis for judging the long-term reliability. In the month we have owned it we haven't found any problems at all. Before buying this car, we tried out a number of other vans and SUV's, including: *The Dodge Grand Caravan: Drove great, was smooth and quiet, but has poor resale value and we have past experience with Chrysler not honoring their warranty. *The Kia Sorento: Ran great for about half a mile, then died in the middle of a busy street leaving me stranded. Service techincians came and said "Duh...we don't know WHY it won't run." Definitely NOT an incentive to buy one!!!! *Buick Rendevouz: Solid, powerful and smooth, but uglier than the Aztek. *Dodge Durango: Rough ride, felt cheap, See comment about poor wartranty service on Grand Caravan above. *Isuzu Rodeo: Advertised as having 200hp. Felt more like 100. *Ford Explorer: Rough ride, new styling is ugly and plain looking. *Ford Escape: Fast and cute, but rough and noisey. *Toyota Highlander: Dog slow, harsh and jerky, handled terribly, GROSSLY over- rated vehicle. After driving all the above vehicles, the Envoy was a real breath of fresh air. Dynamite styling, incredible power, very quiet and smooth and an interior in some color besides GRAY!! More gadgets than any of the others we drove and at a comparable price to most of them. So far we have no complaints other than absolutely HORRIBLE gas mileage (16mpg). Strength:
Good ride and plenty of space. Rides like a car.
Weakness:
Engines dies and won't restart and dealer can't find the problem. Small tank - poor gas mileage our Sierra V8 gets better gas mileage Cup holder in akward place Too many small problems that it has to keep going back to dealer for There are several reviews regarding the problems with the Envoy and I have the same ones. However, one individual posted that he hasn't had any problems and he thinks there are jealous sales people writing these bad reviews. Well, let me know how you feel going 65 miles/hour on the interstate and your car just goes dead...and let me know how you feel since that is the third time it has happened...then let me know how you feel when the dealer says it is Rodent damage yet can't prove it and my car is in a new house in the garage every day..then let me know how you feel when you are carrying groceries and trying to shut the hatch and the cheap strap breaks...and how about when the door handle falls off the passenger door..and then when the driver's door handle does the same. We have no grudges to hold and really love GMC products..however you might want to think about the Envoy seeing that the weaknesses listed on this website seem to be consistent. Strength:
Very comfortable ride and great handling. Lots of head and leg room in the third row seat. Plenty of power and a 25 gal gas tank. If you have small kids, be sure to get it with running boards. The factory ones are the best. The dealer has been great with all my many problems, some major, but we are now cannot trust the vehicle to make long trips - this is a big problem!
Weakness:
Here we go. Replaced 1 gas tank, rebuilt the transmission, reprogrammed the computer twice to solve intermittent AC problem. AC is slooow to cool. In shop again for driver seat not moving, Auto rain sensing wipers going crazy, and windshield washer jets clogged. I rate this vehicle as worth the $$, but only if you don't get a lemon like mine. I believe that mine is a problem car and others will be OK. Purchased in July or August of 2002. Love this vehicle, but have little confidence in its reliability. Ride is exceptionally smooth, interior is great and the Bose sound system is fabulous. It tows a 4500 lb travel trailer with ease on flat ground, but labors on hills. I would not even try the mountains. Has the std 6 cyl 275hp? engine. However, please look at the weaknesses below. Similar Products Used: Tahoe/Yukons |

Apparently everything, read the summary This truck has been to the dealer for service over ten times since November of 02, and it has been babied. The front differential has leaked in two seperate spots (never been offraod, two trips) the A/C controller had to be replaced(three trips alone) rear view mirror display went out(two trips) the seat has a tear in it and it has some sort of spring that sticks in my back while driveng. The front bumper has rust on it already(good ol American quality, I guess). The $800 extra radio would stop playing by itself ( took three trips to repair). It took a meeting between me, the owner, and the service manager and the customer relations guy to get this taken care of. That is how my life has been after forking over $30000 to GMC. The dealer on the other hand, well as you can see it usually takes an act of congress to get a problem fixed. The last straw came when I adked the dealership to helop me out and get this truck off of my hands, the insulted me by offering me a very low trade in value and a high price on a new Z71, so I told the owner that he would be talking to my lawyer( about the lemon law) and he exploded onto me withuot being provoke in anyway with this "You're gonna throw that sh#t in my face, get the f^ck out of here". So I left. Similar Products Used: Nissan truck, over 100000 miles and only back at the dealer three times( for stupid stuff like a squicking door) |

This is the worst vahicle I have ever owned! After having the car for 4 months I had to put it in service for major problems. The emergency brake was coming on by itself while driving. Four months later, the power steering, brakes, and gas goes out at 70m mph on a highway. This car is UNSAFE and not to mention that GMC or the dealership (Parker in Morehead City) has provided no help. |
