electrical locks leg room I rented a Ford Focus at the airport in Richmond,VA. Upon returning the automobile, I exited the vehicle to remove luggage from the truck and return to re-enter the vehicle and the door was locked with engine running. This resulted in missing a schedule flight and a non-acceptable response from Ford. The Ford respresentatives wanted to know "what do you want Ford to do." Ford need to make a better Ford Focus and reassure the general public that they have a quality product. Ford never did say that they will research the issue. Someone else will proably rent the same Ford Focus and the same thing will occur. Similar Products Used: N/A |

Looks, Quality, What can i say everything....
Weakness:
NONE I love this car, I got the car with 80,000 miles on it and its still runs like its brand new. It looks great and the interior is roomy and the fit and finish looks expensive. Most of my friends wonder how i could afford such a nice car. I would recommend this car to anyone and I will probably get another explorer in the future. I have had no problems and have only had to do regular maintenance things. Similar Products Used: 1991 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer |

Breakes are terrible, Gas mileage is unbelievable.......WORD OF ADVICE....NEVER BUY THIS VEHICLE I have had nothing but, bad experiences with this vehicle. I will never purchase another ford in my life!!!! Service is terrible, and noone has been able to explain to me why my engine shuts down when I am at a red light. I am forced to shift to park and restart my engine before I am able to drive forward.......which is a HUGE FRUSTRATION when I am in trafic..... |

great handling roomy smooth ride automatic 4wd Love it!
Weakness:
placement of inside door handle seems awkward. Just recently purchased this vehicle, and I absolutely love it! It is a roomy, solid vehicle. The drive is as smooth as a car. I traded in a 1990 Jeep Cherokee, and the suspension and ride in that vehicle was awful! The jeep was fully loaded with features but none of them worked! I feel very safe in my explorer. First two years was great my favorite vehicle ever, in spite of the sporadic stalling on acceleration and inspite of the numerous recalls---speed control sticking (would not disengage), hood latch would loosen and hood would open at normal driving speed, wiring harness under the driver's seat was a fire hazard---literally caught fire, and of course the dreaded Firestone tires.
Weakness:
There is NO customer service or concern for customer satisfaction. This vehicle has major defects. Worst vehicle I've ever owned. I have complained of stalling on take off since new (in addition to the FOUR recalls I've endured). They said nothing wrong with it, now the problem has escalated into an alarming rattle which will cost at least $2000 to fix. Oh by the way,,, there WAS an extended warranty on this problem but too late for me, I've exceeded the extension. Ford Motor Co. will not help, the dealer has agreed to cut $5.00 off the labor charge (whippee) and give me a slight discount on parts. Still will run near $2000; keep in mind that the problems started when it was new. I do NOT recommend this product, nor any other Ford product and the company is not willing to intercede. |

smooth ride, quiet engine, front and middle seats are roomy, great styling, great value, no problems yet, independent suspension is a plus.
Weakness:
3rd row seat is low, thin & uncomfortable & very little foot space, no aerodynamics, rear benches don't recline or can't be taken off, HP is lacking. Great smooth quiet ride, sophisticated, and great value. I feel confident and safe in this vehicle, unlike my previous vehicle. My family loves the room in the middle seats including the front. This SUV ranks up there with the rest, go FORD! Similar Products Used: Toyota SUV, Dodge Durango |

Ford Explorer XLT
Strength:
The combination of a powerful SUV that can haul the heavy stuff, or stow the luggage, with the handling and comfort of a great car.
Weakness:
I think I typically get 15-16 miles per gallon, which isn't great, but sort of comes with the territory. We absolutely love our Explorer. We liked them before the 2002, but the newer model has a much nicer ride - much smoother like a nice car, rather than the truck that it really is. The XLT has all of the luxuries to make it very comfortable. It handles extremely well, and is genuinely a pleasure to drive. I think it's a good value compared to other SUVs, although I haven't compared to all of them.
