Strength:

Comfort

Weakness:

Expedtion jerks when slowing. Problem has yet to be duplicated @ Duval Ford, therefore, no furhter research or fix. I am afraid it is transmission and somthing will happen after the warranty is over.

Love that Expedition

Strength:

ride and handling are great, the rear lift gate is so light when opening. Love the automatic folding seats.

Weakness:

The interior is nice in some areas, but my 2000 expedition had 2 cup holders that pulled out from the console and I miss that, plus the radio dials are kind of hard to reach. plus they deleted the pockets that were on the side of the middle console, I miss that also. But other than that I love it!

Wow I love this vehicle, Ford hit the nail on the head when they built this one. It rides like I'm driving on glass, the suspension is unbelievable. I looked at other SUV's and they can't touch this one. I loved my 2000 expedition, but I really love this one. I don't think it looks quite at pretty as the older models from the side anyway... But it rides, drives and handles like a dream!

Strength:

I loved the room, and comfort. We taaake long trips for camping so need cargo room plus comfort. The Expedition has it all.

Weakness:

No Brainer..... Gas Mileage, but what SUV does not have that problem. For the 99 the rear windshield wiper was the only problem I had.

This was my first SUV. We had 2 Ford F150 trucks in the past so love Ford! I leased my Expedition, and just turned it in. I regret ever turning it in. The only problem I ever had was the rear windshield wiper, which I understand they fixed in the 2003 model. I just turned in my lease but miss it very much.

Lots of Space and power Good Sound System Love the heated seats Excellent Reliability Intertior is very comfortable Smooth Ride love the sunroof option Good lookin vehicle

Weakness:

Gas mileage (but if ur lookin into an SUV most people know theres no getting around it) Excessive Break replacement Thats pretty much it !!

We bought our Expedtion in the summer of 2000 . We decided to go with the 36 month red carpet lease option and almost 3 years later never regreted it .There are great people at ford credit and they work with their customers very profesionally . Our Expedtion is by far the best car we've ever owned . We traded up from our 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee and found the Expedtion to be luxurious , classy , roomy and very comfortable . We decided on a Toreador Red 2x4 Eddie Bauer and got the 5.4 V8 (get the 5.4 , its a massive difference from the 4.6). This Suv is an outstanding vehicle , we have 64,000 miles and counting. 8 Trips back and forth from Texas to Ohio in complete comfort. No major problems whatsoever except tire , excessive break pad and rotor replacement (most likely due to the traveling). The soundsystem is clear and crisp , the only thing I've heard better is a Bose factory system in a 99 Mercedes S 500. I highly recomend this vehicle to anyone interested in purchaseing one . If you are planning on traveling I suggest getting the optional entertainment system (great for the kids). Unfortunetly for us it wasnt offered in 2000 so we had one installed. Worth the $$ believe me , with 4 kids I know. I recomend this vehicle to anyone looking for a big vehicle with lots of space , comfort and durability.

The truck was purchased new in April 1999. There has been major problems with it since the expiration of the OEM warranty. Instrumentation cluster - $900, Radio - $450, Middle fold down seat _ $850, and at 50k miles the head gasket - $1600. This is the last American vehicle that I will ever purchase.

Strength:

Power, Towing, Room, Looks, Handling

Weakness:

Gas mileage is about 13 in the city right now.Of course if your looking for great gas mileage in an SUV you need to wait till about 2020 for Fuel Cells.. Ford needs to offer a diesel option with the expedition!

I love it! I was orginally looking at the Excursion however the average 6 mpg steered us away. (That and the huge size) The Suburban, while a better all around vehicle, wouldn't even come close in price. We researched the heck out of the expedition, got many quotes and finally got the best darn deal I ever got buying a new vehicle. Total time in the salesmens office.. 30 minutes!!

We also own a windstar which seems to have much more room inside but I wouldn't discount the expedition. We love it!

Strength:

5.4L has plenty of power. (We test drove the 4.6L - I thought it was sluggish when I stepped on the gas pedal) Very smooth ride and the car's turning radius is very good. Loads of features. Too numerous to name. Was skeptical about the power fold down seats; however, my wife loves them. They seem to work well.

Weakness:

Front wheel brake dust. The front wheels turn black very quickly. We are considering replacing the 5 spoke wheels with solid rims to avoid this. While the stereo system is nice, it doesn't come close to the sound of my Maxima's Bose system. The speakers are on the doors - maybe placement on the dash would have been better. Would also like to see a up and down search button for the steering wheel controls. Room behind the third row is minimal with the third row upright. Aside from the front seat compartments, I would have liked to see one more cubby hole or means to cover the rear cargo area to hide valuables ie. like my briefcase/laptop bag. Paint job on one of the doors was not up to par. The dealer did fix right away. While we rarely open, one of the plastic housings to open the rear most window vents pops off, leaves the window loose and spins around when you try to close it. Next pit stop at the dealer, I will have fixed.

First SUV. Bought for room with three kids in car seats across the second row, we needed a bigger vehicle. I also wanted a third row for eventual carpooling and to avoid taking two cars with the in-laws. I also wanted to avoid having to remove the third row seats especially ones that are in a single section when I need the cargo room. After researching Suburban, Tahoe, Explorer and the Expedition, we settled on the Expedition as it seemed a better overall value. I think Ford overestimated what the competition was going to have in 2003.

Strength:

Great in snow and mud. Brakes are great and obviously built for the weight. Hardly notice an attached trailer whether braking or accelerating. 5.4 liter has good power.

Weakness:

Gas mileage (what else would you expect)

This is my second Expedition. My '97 had a few annoying electrical problems but did not scare me away from my 2000. I beat on this thing a lot and regualarly use 2 sets of chains on the tires to go camping. The rear clutch had to be rebuilt once but have not had any other trouble. It now has 45,000 miles. It seems to appreciate better than 87 octane gas.

5.4 liter V-8 Triton Lots of Room Looks Good

Weakness:

Transmission Transmission Transmission Transmission

Overall a good vechicle... OF COURSE, after the factory 36,000 warranty expires... TRANSMISSION goes out. I had an extended warranty through SERVICE GUARD... they denied the claim due to dirt, what they called mud on truck, saying it "appeared to have been stuck in mud" I live in Houston, Texas... we had concrete, not mud. So, needless to say I am the proud owner of a new transmission out of my pocket of $2,485.00 @ 37,241 miles. Also, have had problems with the 4x4 Low Gear... gets stuck. Probably due to transmission. Other than the transmission, its been a pleasureable vechicle.
