Strength:
Engine, space, ergonomics, power third-row and overall ride--It rides better than some bimmers that I have been in.
Weakness:
Gas, fit and finish! Very strong motor(5.4L) with lots of torgue. My wife absolutly loves the beast and I think that it is the second best purchase that we have made aside from our house. The fit and finsh is descent--I work for BMW so I am judging it unfairly! There are a couple of things that I want repaired at the dealership. Other than those little tid-bits, I like it more than the Surburban or Tahoe, or is that Tah-who? Similar Products Used: Surburban, Tahoe, X5 |

Engine 4X4 Rear Hatch Dealership
Weakness:
GAS MILEAGE We purchased our Expedition about a year and have put 15,000 miles on it and it's still going strong! We love the versatility of the rear hatch, and the 4 wheel drive is so convenient. The power seat makes driving it so much fun. Similar Products Used: 1995 Chevy conversion van |

Eddie Bauer 4x4
Strength:
Wife: 1. power 3rd row seats 2. power adjustable peddles 3. DVD entertainment for kids 4. Feels safer to drive than minivan 5. Reverse sensing is a must for a vehicle this size. 6. Interior quality/fit and finish Me (husband): 1. 5.4L engine is perfect. 2. 4x4 easy to operate (on the go)
Weakness:
gas mileage (but not much different than our Ford Windstar). Traded in my minivan for a SUV. Feel safer driving this vehicle. Kids don't like the bouncy feel on the road (too spoiled by the minivan feel) Power rear seats are nice. Nice quality! I think Ford did good by making this product. Similar Products Used: Chevy Suburban (less 3rd seat leg room, she also thought the interior was cheap) Ford Excursion (wife too scared to drive on city roads) |

Strength:
Excellent ride, plenty of power and lots of room. Supurb sound system. I had a 2003 XLT Premium for 3 mos. and it really helps me appreciate the automatic climate control and the sound system.
Weakness:
Steering could use a touch more assist at speed. I know the rack and pinion system is more responsive than the recirculating ball system in the '02, but after long trips, your hands are shot. Traded 2002 Expy 2wd 5.4 for 2003 Expy 2wd 5.4. After 2 days I thought I had made a big mistake!!! The car had a bad water leak above the head liner in the back. It was from welds that had burned through. Further examination revealed major rust under the carpets. (on lot for 4 months). After going through arbitration with FoMoCo I was awarded a replacement vehicle. We ordered an Eddie Bauer 2wd w/5.4 and love it. To make things better, Ford refinanced us from 3.9% to 0.0% and our payments dropped $45/mo. Overall it is a great vehicle, just need a little more knee room for the driver's left knee, mine always hits the door while driving. Similar Products Used: Chevy Tahoe / Suburban |

Strength:
Suspension, handling and power. Also like the fact I don't have to take out the third row seats when not in use.
Weakness:
It does not look as nice as our older Expedition (like the other guy said here, from "the side" look). Also, my older Expedition had a higher seat. What a nice vehicle! Like most here, my wife and I checked out the Suburban and Tahoe but we opted for loyalty since we have already owned an Expedition for 5 years (88 XLT). It is a vast improvement over the previous Expeditions, particularly in the suspension and handling. We had almost decided on a Suburban until at our last trip to the local Ford dealer where the salesman offerred us a deal we could not refuse. It included the $3000 factory rebate, $1000 lease loyalty rebate and even a $750 rebate direct from Ford in the form of a coupon mailed to me. WE just came back from a 2500 mile trip to california and it was nice. Similar Products Used: Checked out the Suburban and Tahoe. |

Ford Expedition (Eddie Bauer)
Strength:
Size, comfort, options (CD, Sun roof, etc). Well equipped.
Weakness:
Not very reliable vehicle. Ford Dealer Service Shop not very good. The truck was purchased used in Oct 2000 (17k miles). There has been major problems with it since the expiration of the OEM warranty (GLAD I PURCHASED PREMIUM Extended Service Plan). These are the repairs that have been done and covered by the ESP: Windows/Locks paned on D/S door, P/S door opening mechanism, Head Gasket @ 48k miles (waited a month to get truck back), ABS system sensor and replace rotor that was frozen to hub (during ABS repair). This is my worst experience with any vehicle. I'd owned 3 Broncos and never had major problems. This could be the last Ford truck I ever buy. Without the ESP, I would have paid well over $3,000 for various repairs. Similar Products Used: Ford Bronco, Chevy Suburban and Tahoe, |
