Expedition - Eddie Bauer
Strength:
Decent ride, decent looks, roomy
Weakness:
BRAKE DUST! Screeching power windows, battery that keeps dying - Ford cant find reason, temp display that is rarely accurate, power mirrors that move by themselves, need I go on? P.O.S. I have always been a Ford man, but this vehicle has broken me. It looks like crap after about one day due to all the brake dust. I will buy foreign next time. |

Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer
Strength:
Love the room, the interior, the stereo system and especially the folding rear seats. Handles great, turning radius beats the heck out of the Chevy trucks and SUVs. Seats are very comfortable which is great on long drives. They give you great back and leg support. Antilock brakes work awesome - if not a little noisy on wet pavement. On dry pavement you come to a complete stop almost instantly.
Weakness:
Brake dust - Ford really needs to do something about that. I look at other SUVs on the road and the Expedition seems to be the only one with this problem. Road noise can be a little loud. I love a big vehicle and feel safe in it. The Expedition is very roomy and handles very well for its size. The interior feels and looks luxurious. My only complaint is the brake dust and the way the antilock brakes work. The antilock brakes when applied on wet pavement make a loud grinding noise and the left front tire does a vibrating/chattering thing. The dealership said that Ford put a very aggressive braking system in the new Fords (like truck brakes) and they are excellent - last longer than older model braking systems. However, they also sound like truck antilock brakes on wet pavement. The brake dust however looks horrible - I hate it. When you spend so much money on a vehicle and it looks crapy all the time, its discouraging. |

tempeture fluctuation and gas mileage. i miss my honda. no problem with the brake dust, runs great I do have a problem with outside noise ie wind road noise etc. The only problem i have is the tempeture fluctuates a lot. I have taken it numerous times to the dealership. they have changed thermostat, fan cluth, they have flushed the entire system and the problem continues. |

BRAKE DUST!!!!! Every where and all the time, doesn't matter weather they are new brakes or older brakes. Bought this truck back in 2000, I love it. It handles well, never have had any major problems with it. For the size of it, it has great get up and go. Decent gas mileage. Roomy enough even with all the seats filled up. Could do without all the break dust. Getting concerned cause it is getting up there is age and mileage (currently at 92,000) Wonder what the life span is on them? |

Great for families. DVD, Smooth drive (usually), Home stereo system, middle seat is great for car seat.

so far 2 out of 2 make lemonade at 68-74 MPH Everything is great. Except for what has been mentioned by others. Brake Dust, Wiper alarm, and trac vibration. This is my second 2003 EddieB in 3 months. The first was bought from Tuttle Click and was a lemon due to speed wobbles between 68-74 MPH. This second EddieB has the same problem. I have only met one other with the same issue. If you have had this issue, please email me. Similar Products Used: Less expensive than a Tahoe and has more bells and whistles |

Ford Expedition XLT
Strength:
Smooth suspension with little roll around corners, turns very sharp, folding 3rd row seats, interior room, large center console.
Weakness:
A lot of road and wind noise. Loud rattles coming from both sides of the vehicle, brake dust, low washer fluid indicator. I owned a 98' Eddie Bauer which I loved, but this time a down grade to the XLT Premium. I really miss all the options. I really don't know if sticking with Ford was a good decision. First the positives: The price was right copared to the Tahoe, Yukon and Seqoua. Big improvement in the suspension and ride, along with the folding 3rd row seats. What a pain it was pulling the 3rd row seat out of the 98'. Also like the idea of having the canopy air bag system, why is this not manadatory in all vehicles. The middle seat in the 2nd row slides forward which is great with an infant child seat. Larger center console and more leg room than the 98'. I sat in the 3rd row the other day and was amazed at the amount of leg and head room. Now the negatives: What is the deal with the excessive brake dust? My 95' Toyota 4-Runner never has break dust, but the front rims of the Expy will be covered within a day of washing it. A lot of road and wind noise coming from both the tires and the doors. We also hear a loud rattle or road chatter noise especially at higher speeds. I've heard this is a common problem and Ford doesn't have a solution? The inside is dash area is also very plain. Windshield washer light and alert keeps going off but the fluid is 3/4 full? |
