Ford Escape (2010 and older) SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Ford Escape is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, and lead the small SUV class back when it was first introduced in 2001. Although changes have continued to be made to the Escape over the last ten years, its exterior and interior designs are looking dated compared to the competition.

The XLS FWD is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, I4, 171-horsepower engine that achieves 22-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The Limited Hybrid 4WD is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, I4, 153-horsepower, hybrid engine that achieves 29-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. A variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

The Ford Escape gets good fuel economy with its standard 4-cylinder engine and it offers a long list of high tech features and options such as the Ford SYNC entertainment system, programmable MyKey and active park assist, a system which allows the Escape to parallel park itself with very little driver involvement.

Strength:

Everything about it, wonderful car!

Weakness:

The black gets dirty easy (but what black car doesnt?)

This is the first car I have actually purchased (making payments of course) on my own. I received the A-Plan discount so I got a great deal. To put it plain I love my car. I have installed 2 cerwin vega strokers and 2 4000W mono block amps in the back along with a tv in the dash coming this week. The ride is so smooth and it does better on gas than any car I have ever had. The gloss black paint looks super sharp after I clean it. Rims are coming next and after that I will never want to get out of this car. I have nothing but good things to say about this car!

Strength:

Car looks nice, but's what the point if it's not mechanically soind.

Weakness:

See my review summary.

This car was nice when I got it but it only lasted for about 6 onths before things started to go bad. 1. Catalytic converter collapsed. 2. Intake manifold cracked. 3. Throttle body assembly broke. 4. Bottoms of doors started to rust at the welds. 5. After items 1-3 were "fixed" by Ford, the milage went from 29mpg hwy to 20mpg hwy on a good day. Ford's "Customer Care" was terrible to try and deal with. Each time you call it's like staring over from the beginning. Don't expect "call backs" and never expect follow-thru from them.

Love this truck!! I had a 3rd seat Explorer for 6 years and loved that. This new truck is amazing - handles sooo smooth. Get the audiophile - it is sharp and the sun and satellite package is a must.

it runs so far?????

Weakness:

what isnt a weakness of this ford lemon?
Chevy had it better with the Beretta... remember that hunk o junko?

This is by far the worst vehicle i have ever driven. I drive several hours per day, and my back is in need of alignment after driving this vehicle. Where do i start? The wheel covers look like tin pie plates. the radio looks fancy, but sounds like a tin can... which is how the vehicle rides. Every bump in the road is absorbed by my back through the seats made of rock. I rolled up the window because it was too noisy and it got louder inside (from road noise.) The doors and the hatch are about as thick as a pancake... not too safe. Unless you are 7 feet tall, you cant touch the ceiling while sitting in the manually adjustable seats. Which leads to the sun glaring in your eyes between the non-movable, too short visors above the rearview mirror. If you are driving at night bring a flashlight so you can see, as the lights are not very bright. If you turn the car off and get out to retrieve your child, make sure you unlock the door first or you'll break a nail because it stays locked. The overall appearance , unless you have a sooped up yellow one, is mediocre at best. If the window is down it rattles in the wind. The tilt is a lot of fun to find, as it is under the steering wheel. There is no room on the dash for a file folder. You pretty much can stick your nose on the windshield while driving. Where in the world is the steering column inside lighting? I could go on and on. I used to own a fiero a long time ago (11 years) and that by far was a much better ride. Someone at Ford was incredibly P.O.ed when they designed and built this hunk o poo.

Strength:

DRIVING POSITION, STRONG ENGINE, GOOD LOOKING CAR, GREAT STEREO, VERSATILE

Weakness:

LACK LUSTER DASHBOARD

Purchased new in March. Really enjoy the driving position and the fact that it has a high and wide stance that allows for good visibility and still feels stable on winding roads. The 3.0 litre duratec V-6 is great. Had the same motor in my 2002 Taurus. Gas mileage is suprisingly good. The interior is a little plain, but well laid out. Very happy with the purchase.

Strength:

Strong Air Conditioning system, the whole car can be cooled/heated quickly with the only vents being at the front. Use of plastic skirting makes fender benders a thing of the past (two cars have run into the back of me and both times there has been no damage, not even a scratch). Back seat is roomy with an excellent stereo system.

Weakness:

Can be a little noisy when driving however this only reflects engine power. Stick shift should have been a normal leg side shift stick.

A truly great car, great for a family. Steering and Handling is beautiful, perfect view of everything in front of you (better than a sedan). Haven't used 4WD yet but FWD works great especially around the city. Gear change is very responsive and smooth.

Very roomy, compact and conventional. Good sounding factory radio. Lots of storage! Big hatch area and back seat.

Weakness:

At night even when the dash lights are turned all the way up, I cannot read the shift display (P,R,D,1)etc. The display is not backlit with any lighting and its impossible to see. Also has noisy ride.

Love this vehicle! Have had for 2 days now. Bought with 73,000 miles on it. Absolutely love the 4 wheel drive and handle of the vehicle. Don't think I'll ever go back to a car!
