Strength:
5.9 motor seems really strong, posi rear works well, size of suv.Well set up package
Weakness:
None so far, maybe wind noise, but we have added vent shades, so the noise might be from them I was here looking at the reviews before i bought the suv,i'm a diehard ford man ,but they didnt make anything that i like right now,and wife really wanted this Durango,so far we love it .It's got 16,700 miles on it when we got it,has factory warrenty left on it,and we plan to get more.We got the 5.9 motor, trailering package, posi rear,we haul a small boat, and have no problems doing that. As far as gas milage, we expected what we get 10 mpg around town , but on the highway it seems to do great, probably closer to 15-18. Will stop back in a few months and let another review. Strength:
Good SUV for towing as we go to Florida towing a 16ft boat with no porblems. Easy to park, handling great, it is a truck so ride at times is bumpy.
Weakness:
Quality and maintenance --you buy a new vehicle to avoid these repair costs not to inherit problems. Love the looks, fun to drive however the gas mileage is terrible. Great to tow small boat no compliants there. Now maintenane is another issue---brakes bad-had to replace the calpher-froze on the road. Transmission gone at 77K -- out of warranty only 2 years old---cost of rebuild $2150.00. Take a long time to cool A/C not adaquate. Similar Products Used: 1994 Dakota pick up |

Price, Great looks, Awesome Power, Solid Truck! Gas mileage is good. Easy to park.
Weakness:
Everyone keeps looking at you driving this beautiful truck! Paid $42000 Canadian. This truck rocks! Looks, sounds, runs Great! Lots of room but not the MONSTER full size SUV. Truck is absolutly loaded and everthing works great. 5.9L engine has LOADS of power. No troubles in the first 2 months I've owned it. 7 year warrentee leaves me worry free. Price compare with any other full-load SUV and you will be coming back to Dodge. Similar Products Used: Ford, Nissan, and Toyota |

I wont say it....... It's not a Honda! Notinh like it on the road! I have always ownwed GM but the Envoy is a car compared to this beast! I deal with a 5 Star dealer and we also own a 2001 Sebring LXi which has been great so far! Added some Altera lights (front and Back) and some other toys. Weakness:
Everything Never again. An extended warranty would not even help this poorly engineered piece of work. Judging from many of the other reviews, I am not alone with the suspension, steering, brakes and engine problems. Probably the most frustrating thing is dodge cannot identify a 'check engine' light problem with their own vehicle. Secondly, their customer service is worthless, absolutely bottom of the bucket garbage. Next step is to go back with GM - really sorry now I gave any merit to Dodge ads or marketing effort. |

Looks good.
Weakness:
Terrible suspension problems, BAD gas mileage, local service not worthy. Dodge/Chrysler customer service is a revolving door of one telling me to deal with the local service shop, the local dealer telling me to call the 1-800 line, then being told to go back to my dealer. I will never buy another Dodge/Chrysler product. Bought the Durango new in 1999, within weeks the front end started clicking and popping. The dealer had to re-torque the control arms. A month later, again. Now 3 years later it is a standard routine, sometimes driving off the lot after having it re-torqued I turn around and head back for them to do it again. The tires wear out after 25,000 miles due to the front end instability. The gas mileage is putrid, currently averaging 13.5-14 mpg, which I believe is due to the front end constantly being out of alignment. So far the water pump has also cracked, the transmission has leaked, one speaker quit working on the Infinity sound system, the power windows go out intermittently, battery has been replaced 3 times so far. Local service is truly appalling. I had to tell them the correct way to put the truck on the lift to diagnose the control arms being worn out. Which they were, and were replaced. The last time I was in for the front end banging during a turn, they took my car around back for about 15 minutes, then brought it back to me and defied me to get it to make a noise. I don't own 2. Bought my D new on 7/2000. I just turned 72,000 miles. I love this truck and will buy another. I have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS with this vehicle. It only goes to the shop for regular maintanance. This is a great vehicle. More reliable than my previous vehicles. I have the 4.7 and it is fantastic for reliability. Roomy, big and strong.
Weakness:
Gas, handles like a truck, too many problems with the A/C and the service dept stinks. At first I was impressed with the strength and power but it wore thin real fast. After three months the A/C went, it needed a new compressor. Four months later the wiring melted at the fuse junction box, not covered $650, had to get the whole thing redone. The following summer guess what the A/C didn't work again, this time they had to recalibrate the wires?? Not covered another $200. I have a annoying squeeking noise coming from the back wheel, the dealer said it was brake dust, it's not. The dealer didn't know what they were doing, I was appalled at thier service people they are never around to help you. |

Power, looks and space....I dig the 3rd row seating!
Weakness:
none so far....may be too soon to tell! We have had our Durango for about 3 months and have no complaints or concerns as yet. We shopped around and chose this vehicle for its power, size, ruggedness and curb appeal. My wife and I have a newborn and 2 large dogs. When we head out in the "RIG" we are never without the space we need to accomodate all and our gear. We kive very close to the Rocky Mountains...I can't wait to get it out on those snowy mountain roads! Similar Products Used: Jeep Grand Cherokee The older Jeep Grand Wagoneer |
