Strength:
Off the line response. Stereo good. LOoks great
Weakness:
Air conitioner is inept. Sie vents put out less than 20% CFM of center ones. Condenser does not cool sufficently. A wonderful car for in town driving. Good for kids. Is very responsive. Downshifts a lot when towing on highway. Cruise control can not maintin speed in wind or towing and varies up to 10 MPH. Air conditioner is poor. Similar Products Used: Ford explorer |

Weakness:
gas milage, repair bills, breaks, limited vision (I'm tall) We bought this car used (rental fleet). Worked fine for about 1.5 yrs. Then the repairs started. Breaks fixed twice. Some kind of oil deal (three times). Cooling system once. A/C fixed once. Now they say we need to replace upper control bushings. When will it stop! We paid this thing off in under 3 years, but our repair bills average out to the orginal monthly payment. Anyone want a Durango at a "good" price? When it works, it works good, but it seems like Indy,...you got to pit every so many laps. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Just-right size. Pulling power.
Weakness:
Poor driving visability due to large front windshield posts. Bought new.SLT package that has smaller v-8. Tow boats, drive on soft sand beaches filled to the roof with gear. Plenty of power. 4 wheel drive works great. Minor squeaking coming from drive train. sounds like a bearing. Sound gos away sometimes (always at dealership), but always comes back. ABS/Brake warning lights comes on often since third year of ownership but no braking problems. Was just told by Dealer that Ball joints are worn-out now that my warranty has expired. I will be calling customer service on this.Overall it has been good, but I'm afraid problems I've been reading about are about to start appearing since it just hit 22K miles. Love the roominess
Weakness:
Gas Consumption We have the Magnum V8 1999 Durango The engine will suddenly stop operating while being driven, thus necessitating pulling over to the side of the road without power steering or power brakes. There does not appear to be any problem with the electrical system, there is plenty of battery power to turn the engine over, It seems to correct itself if the vehicle sits long enough (several minutes to ½ hour). Could this have something to do with the security system? Similar Products Used: Jeep Cherokee |

transmission-$1450,rear bearings-$500,gas mileage13-14mpg-$$$$ I bought my Durango with 53000 miles and being second owner. Love the looks of the truck but transmission just went out @ 75000 miles. I asked the transmission shop where the repair is being done, Why are there so many Dodge Trucks in the lot for repair? I guess we all know now. Very comfortable to drive and handles will on the road.
Weakness:
Problem with oil pump I have really enjoyed driving my Durango. Soon after I bought it, the motor to back windows stopped working. Had no other problems. I had an extended warranty for 100,000 miles. At 103,000 miles the motor went out because the oil pump failed. One year later, the oil pump has gone out again. I am wondering if anyone else has had problems with the oil pump Similar Products Used: Jeep Wagoneer |

Strength:
A/C WORKS GREAT. RIDE IS AS TO BE EXPECTED FOR A SUV ON A TRUCK FRAME. HANDLING IS GREAT
Weakness:
GAS MILEAGE, WIND NOISE ABSOLUTELY THE BEST VEH WE HAVE EVER PURCHASED. WE PURCHASED USED WITH 70K ON IT. ALL WARRANTIES HAD EXPIRED. BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP US. WE BOUGHT IT FROM THE ORIGINAL SELLING DEALER, WHO TOOK IT IN ON TRADE. MY WIFE IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER. SHE TOOK THE D TO OHIO AND NIAGRA FALLS SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING WITHOUT A SINGLE PROBLEM. FROM THERE SHE WENT TO SOUTH CAROLINA, AGAIN WITHOUT A SINGLE PROBLEM. I, WE HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE HAPPY WITH A VEH. I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE D. Strength:
Size and power and 3rd row seats. Good handling
Weakness:
Gas milage, but that is a trade off for the size and room you get. First problem encounted 1000 miles into ownership, I hope it not a sign of what is to come. Great price on the 2002 as they were clearing them out! Needed to get a new auto fairly fast to replace a older car. Wanted to get something with power and size and not get a second "car". The Darango test drove wonderful and had everything I was looking for including a smoot car like ride that for a larger SUV. Overall so far, while only being under a month, it has driven great, but I will reserve judgement overall as a clicking sound has cropped up under the car at low speeds. Shop says it is the suspension pads and they are replacing in a week. Similar Products Used: Test drove: Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford Explorer. |

The extra room, the way it looks and what you can do with it.
Weakness:
Brakes, air conditioning, and maintenance on it. My wife and I purchased our Durango in June of 2002. We love the way it looks and rides, not to mention the extra room. Soon after we got it we noticed problems. Example, brakes, transmission, gas milage, air condition/heat. We recently had an estamate and it will cost us nearly $1700.00 to get fixed. Our warranty is over and don't want to give it up. But overall we love it. In fact my wife drives it more than I do! |
