Strength:

great in snow. It seats a ton of people. back seat folds down. I could go on but there is a 1200 character limit.

Weakness:

Gas Thirsy!

I LOBE my Durango! I got my Durango in the winter of 2000. If you don't remember, that was a bad winter. There was so much snow, it wasn't even funny. I used to have a 13 year old BMW and it didn't have 4-wheel-drive so i was in a lot of trouble that winter. Then I got my Durango and all my problems were solved. I just Lobe my Durango.

Strength:

Awesome 4x4 capability in mud & snow. Rugged, good looking SUV that doesn't get lost in the crowd. Easy to maintain. Reliable, caveat: I'm a very skilled shade-tree mechanic so I probably do a lot of preventive maintenance that keeps us rolling along so well! Plenty of power using the 5.9 and 5.2 liter mills. You can tow ClassIV with the former and easily ClassIII with the latter. 3rd row-seating. Dual A/C units. Excellent all around visibility. A just right-sized SUV. Enough to make those who don't have one envious and small enough to avoid the hassles associated with owning and operating one of the larger beasts roaming the roads.

Weakness:

Fuel consumption. But I was pleased with the 16.5mpg average delivered by our 360 powered Durango. You just have to ensure the spark-plugs are properly gapped and you'll get the most mileage from this or any vehicle.

This, our second Durango, was purchased as a Mother's Day gift for my wife. I've read all the other comments posted here. Many I've heard before, some were new. Fortunately for us, the only issue we've had with each Duragno that is quite common has been limited to upper and lower ball-joints failing at relatively low mileage. Our first Durango we bought used with 58k miles on the clock. She was a beautiful Chili-pepper-red steed motivated by the 5.9liter/360cu-V8. We put 26k miles on her in the year-and-a-half we had her. We didn't have one single problem whatsoever! The truck fired-up every time. We did tow a small 4000lb utility trailer quite frequently both on-road and off-road and the Durango pulled strong as always. I drove this vehicle through two winters, one mild and the other a bit more averaging 26-inches of snow. The Durango cruised through drifts easily on the crappy and balding OEM Goodyear Wrangler RTS tires and performed miracles when the Michelin XCT4's went on. Our second Durango fires up and cruises along nicely. She has 134k miles racked-up on her 5.2liter/318cu mill. The A/C blows ice-ice-cold, both the main and the auxillary rear unit. All power options appear to be in rock solid condition. I'm going to replace the transmission filter, coolant, fuel-filter, wires, etc. as part of my 'new' owner routine summer maintenance. I look forward to driving this wonderful vehicle for years to come. Bottom-line: This has been, by far, the best vehicle I have ever owned! Yes, I've owned imports too - they were crap compared to this thing.

Strength:

Large presence on the road, good handling with addition of BF Goodrich AT tires. Great in snow...

Weakness:

Gas thirsty!!

I LOVE my Durango. In the 10 months I've owned it I've NEVER had any problems with the exception that the engine "whines" up toward the fan-belt assembly (which I'm going to have looked at soon). Other than that it's gotten me through 5 states of travel and NEVER ANY PROBLEMS!! I Love my Durango!!

The look, the size, and the way it drives.

Weakness:

Our Durango is falling apart.

Boy do we ever regret buying our Durango. The transmission went out at 40K miles. Power locks and seat belts broke at 45K. Now at barely 47K the we are leaking oil (not from the filter) from somewhere near the back. Repairman said it would be very expensive to repair. The electric windows are opening very slow.

Lots of space and the 3rd row seat.

Weakness:

Gas, brakes, and air conditioner; is costing me the same price I payed for the truck.

I couldn't live without having a Dodge Durango, what a mistake! Brake were bad from day one. I'm alawys charge extra because of a special pin is need to replace the brake. Air conditioner went out the second year.

Weakness:

Where do you want me to start? :(

Had this truck less than a year and started hearing whining from the rear axle. Rear-end had to be rebuilt:Cost $$$$(don't even ask). A month later, air conditioner went out(IN TEXAS! IN THE SUMMER! Need I say more?). Had to be replaced Cost: $$$ (By now I feel like a total idiot for buying this thing). Air conditioner still doesn't cool very well, and the back vents might as well be non-existent (approx. 5% air flow) 6 months later, less than 1 week after oil change/maintenance, Water pump went out. Took 6 hours of labor just to get to the pump and 4 more to replace it: $$$$. (Just shoot me now!) Has less than 58,000 total miles. What a piece of #!@*. Windshield wipers don't clear windshild off, even after replacement (somethin's obviously screwed up there). Not that we get that much rain here, but when we do, it would be nice to be able to see where you're going. I'm dumping this thing as fast as I can.

Weakness:

Transimission, electrical, Total engine failure at 85,000 miles despite good maintence.

Bought vehicle with about 50,000 miles on it. It has been nothing but problems for us. First the elictrical systems went hay wire. Got constant lights for doors being open when they were closed and even locked. Interior lights then got stuck in on positions. Transmission started acting up at 75,000 miles. Then the piece de resistance ...with 85,000 miles on the vehicle despite good fluid levels and regular maintenance...the motor seized up and we will be junking this vehicle. DO NOT BUY FORD PRODUCTS. Since purchasing this vehicle I have heard dozens of first hand accounts of transmissions failing and other serious problems long before hitting the big 100,000 mile mark.

Strength:

Looks good.

Weakness:

It has taken over my bank account with the neverending repairs that are needed.

Within the first few months of ownership, the a/c quit working. Used Stop Leak to avoid tearing the dash out to fix it. It works now. 60K miles we had to replace the rear speed sensor. 70K miles it began overheating. Replaced water pump, fan clutch, flushed out radiator only to find out it has a cracked head. There goes about $2000.
