4D2W Auto
Strength:
Spacious for four adults. Good cargo space with rear seats folded. Low maintenance requirements. Excellent performance in-city traffic. Easy to maneuver amd park. Good CD/tuner system
Weakness:
Wind pushes it around some - even that from a passing 18-wheeler. Feels like it might take flight easily at speeds over 65. Brought it new with all options except the 4w drive - which I would never use anyway. The Tracker is my principle transportation - low mileage commute to work and around town mostly. Have had two problems - the ignition switch wear causing the key to stick but warranty covered replacement; and a strange crunchy - gravel on metal sound coming intermittently from the right front area. The sound is very worrisome. But no performance problems. I consider the Tracker a little unstable in wind and above 65 mph - its high center of gravity perhaps. Overall I like it and think it has been an excellent vehicle for the price I paid. Similar Products Used: Ford Courier pickup |

Chevy Tracker, 2Door, Soft Top
Strength:
Lightweight> Good fuel mileage plus the bonus of bouncing around like a football when it''s windy (other drivers avoid you, even drunks.) Storage> Fold down rear seat. Soft Top> Removable (sort of) Good heater> 4 tires> brakes> headlights>
Weakness:
Lightweight> Control problems in windy conditions. Just stay focused, white knuckle the steering wheel, and avoid being stuck in the middle lane with semi''s on both sides. You''ll have to steer into the wind, but watch out for hills and valleys which act as a wind break or you could end up shooting across several lanes without warning. Removal and installation of Soft Top> You''ll need the owners manual to do both procedures (at least during the first attempt.) Follow the manual step by step or you''ll end up kicking yourself (trust me.) Allow plenty of time before it starts to rain and before nightfall to install the convertible top. Somehow, the engineers found a way to incorporate buttons, clasps, slide ins, zippers and velcro, into an otherwise simple concept. Better yet, leave it on and use the sunroof. Limited cargo or passenger space> This is a Catch 22 situation. You can take 2 passengers (okay 3, if 2 of them are equal in size to small children) and leave your luggage in the driveway or take your luggage (+ 1 passenger) and leave the other passenger in the driveway. Sunvisors the size of your hand> Yes, they''re the same size in most cars, but they still suck. Noisey This is a good choice of transportation for the problem solver. Each strength is also a weakness, so it''s up to the owner to tip the scale the right way. Don''t try to compare it to a Jeep (or a golf cart) and don''t look for any frills (you won''t find them.) What you see is what you get (for the price.) Similar Products Used: None |

Tracker
Strength:
Appearance, ride, performance, comfort.
Weakness:
Could use wider tires, and the center armrest. Due to folding seats, space is a little more restricted for long items than the older models with removable seats. After 16000 miles we still love the little guy. What a step up from our 1990 Tracker. We were totally surprised by the good ride, low noise level (as long as the roof rack cross bars are off), good sound system, quiet engine, and seating comfort (leather option). We have the top line loaded version. Solid 22 mpg, mostly highway commute. Great drivability in heavy snow. Always surprised by what we can carry with the rear seats folded. And contrary to the road tests, this thing runs real good with the V6. Also, did you know it has a replaceable cabin air filter? Similar Products Used: Explorer, Blazer (yuck). |

Tracker 4 door
Strength:
Great gas mileage, very reasonable to insure, a breeze to park, good bang for the buck
Weakness:
Could use better speakers..they do not handle much bass from the stereo. No center armrest...bummer. I am ordering one from Suzuki to resolve that problem. I purchased my new Tracker a week ago with the special 2.9% GMAC financing and it was truly a great deal. I "downgraded" from a Monte Carlo SS, but I have had a blast driving this little UTE! The 2.0 4 cylinder seems very peppy, although it struggles a bit going up hills (engine is still tight with less than 500 miles), so perhaps that will get better. The seats are comfortable and legroom is good for a 6-4" person like myself. It seems great on gas so far, and with the rear seats down, cargo room is sufficient. Rear legroom is almost non-existent with the front seats all the way back, so plan on sitting sideways if you''re a rear seat passenger. Visibility is great and the vehicle seems to be solidly built. Shift on the fly 4WD. Great stereo system. Easy and Fun
Weakness:
Back headrest block some of the view. Definatley missing a center console with an armrest. I could even live without the console, but I no place for my right arm. My first SUV and quite the choice. A real off-roader not like the CRV and a hell of a lot cheaper than it and the RAV4. Incredibly comfortable with Leather. Myself the wife and kid have plenty of room. I drive 80 miles a day so I need to be comfortable. If your looking for quality and comfort at a heck of a price, you''ve gotta try this cutie. Strength:
Automatic, ride, handling, looks, comfort, fit and finish.
Weakness:
None really. I wish privacy glass was an option (I''m getting the windows tinted) as well as a sunroof (they offer it on the Suzuki Vitara, oh well! Maybe I''ll get one of those installed as well) Excellent truck! I have the Tracker 4dr Base with the 1SB package (PW,PL,alloys, cruise, etc.) as well as the automatic, roof rack and CD and it''s great. Great ride, quiet inside, great a/c and good power (even for a four cyl). I took the truck to Vegas right after the purchase and it was great on the road. The truck offers excellent visibility all around (although the rear headrests do block some rearward view) and is very comfortable (I''m 6''2" and fit just fine). The truck came w/Goodyear tires which ride fine with very little noise and no squeal. Chevy was offering a $2500 rebate and after some dealing I got the truck for 14,600 before tx and lic!!! $16,100 out the door!!! Try getting that with Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, etc.! 2door soft top
Strength:
Cute, user friendly, convertible, 4x4, Blue, height and drives like a truck
Weakness:
Electrical System, Service Department, GM/Chevrolet Service Department, low resale value After our son wrecked the station wagon, we decided that we would get something small and sporty for me to drive. We wanted a convertible and 4x4. Our sales guy Ralph was good. He helped us custom order our paint, interior, everything. It was a dream come true... EVERYTHING we wanted. Like all good things, it came to an abrupt end. After about a month my nightmare began. First it was the squealing belts, 4 times in before the shop finally checked Chevrolet and found out there was a recall on the tensioner. This was 4 times over about 6 months. During this six month period bad went to worse and continues. The newest thing is the annoying and DANGEROUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS I''M HAVING. There is a constant clicking sound in the ignition area. The headlights flicker on and off intermittently, dashboard lights are intermittent and now... an awful plastic burning smell accompanies the unwelcome clicking. So to the dealer it has gone, today makes 8 times it''s been there in 15 months. For the month of September 2001, we have had our Tracker a total of 13 days (todays date is 9/27/01). The repair people cannot duplicate the problem, so they don''t fix it. But they did place a piece over the sensor they''ve replaced on a couple of occasions. It didn''t do any good, because withing 3 days of picking it up from the shop it was ready to go back. I love my Tracker but I hate the problems. Strength:
More powerful than my 99 CRV. Hugh rebates. Real SUV with 4x4 low-range gear. Seat high. Good-looking alloy wheels. Chevy dealerships everywhere.
Weakness:
Small for some (no prob for me because there are only two of us. Similarly noisy to my 99 CRV. Small rear doors. I added leather seats and ABS to my Tracker LT and I loved my car! Great vehicle for the price. Quite powerful V6 after you get used to it. Brakes and 4WD are fine. I averaged over 20 miles per gallon with in-town driving. Similar Products Used: 99 CRV |
