Strength:
The room in the front seat area is much better than an Expedition.
Weakness:
Same as above Since the day we drove the Tahoe off the lot we have had a "road noise" type of sound. This occurs between 40-55 miles an hour. When you shift out of overdrive into 3rd - the noise stops. We have had it in the shop several times for this problem. They have replaced the tires, done something to the exhaust system, down loaded some type of bulletin from GM that was suppose to fix the problem. Nothing they have tried has made this noise stop. Now we are approaching the expiration of the warranty and we are afraid the trans. is the problem and are afraid with our luck everything will dye at 361000 miles. |

Z-71
Strength:
Chevy is the king of small blocks, and it shows here. Suspension is good to go, really shines off road. It hasn't morphed into a mini van!
Weakness:
None. Really! This vehicle replaced a Ford Explorer. There is no comparison in terms of performance. The Z-71 is a true truck (SUV). It outperforms the Ford in everyway. After 18,000 miles, I have had zero problems, and I have zero complaints! If you want something to lug the kids around in, look at the others. If you want a beast, check out the Z-71. Tahoe LT
Strength:
So much power and strength. I test drove several SUV''s on the market, and this was by far more powerful and a better ride than any other mid-sizers.
Weakness:
Well, the rattles, which I am disgusted to admit I already have a few. :( The molding on the driver''s side from the dash up to the roof interior by the windshield makes a little noise. I wish I knew why it started. I am currently asking my dealer if it is fixable, as I have only had it 4 months! Love, love, LOVE my truck! It is fabulous. The engine power is amazing, the ride is smooth and luxurious. I went around to many many dealerships to find EXACTLY the one I wanted, and I am sooo glad I did! I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. I come from a LONG line of Chevy buyers, my brother has a 2000 Silverado Z-71 LT, my father has a 1996 Siverado, not to mention all of the ones we have had before these. Chevy produces good quality trucks, and I would absolutely buy this again! God, I love those heated leather seats! :) Similar Products Used: Used to have a ''91 S-10 4 x 4 Blazer, which I loved and drove into the ground. Awesome truck, and am enjoying the Tahoe just as much! |

Strength:
VORTEC 350 POWER, 4 WHEEL DRIVE, COMFORT AND SAFETY. RESALE VALUE!!! GREAT LOOKING VEHICLE THAT RECEIVES COMPLIMENTS EVERYWHERE IT GOES.
Weakness:
PERSISTANT "CLUNK" IN DRIVE-TRAIN (DEALER HAS PUT GREASE INTO DRIVE-SHAFT AT TRANSMISSION) BUT SEEMS TO COME BACK WITH-IN A FEW THOUSAND MILES. FUEL ECONOMY IS A BIT LOW BUT WE CONSIDER THAT A TRADE OFF FOR THE SAFETY OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND "EQUALIZER" SIZE. OUR TAHOE (CHOO CHOO CUSTOM VERSION) CAME WITH EVERY CONCEIVABLE OPTION (INCLUDING VIBRO-MASSAGE AND HEATED LEATHER SEATS, HEATED AND COOLED CUP HOLDERS, BUILT IN COOLER, T.V.-VCR COMBO, CUSTOM WHEELS AND PAINT SCHEME) IT WAS A VERY GOOD BUY CONSIDERING IT WAS A NEW 1999 MODEL WE PURCHASED IN DECEMBER OF 2000. WE HAVE ONLY PUT 10,000 MILES ON IT SINCE PURCHASED AND HOPE TO ADD MANY MORE. Similar Products Used: 1997 GMC 4X4 JIMMY. BUT HAVE OWNED 13 NEW VEHICLES IN AS MANY YEARS FROM ACURA TO FORD. |

Perfect size for family. Safe Looks great
Weakness:
Interior rattles and falling apart. Breaks squeek after 10,000 miles. Gas mileage Sunroof rattle like crazy My 2001 LT Tahoe is beautiful inside and out. It is comfortable and has plenty of room. This is a great car for a family of five. For the price I paid I expect better quality of interior. Before it was a year old. There were rattles (sunroof, door panels & center consel) my headliner plugs continue to fall out after various trips to nearest dealer. Z71
Strength:
Excellent performance with fair handling for a 5000# vehicle. Gas mileage is as expected. Good 4x4 system and ride off-road. Killer A/C when on the move. Buy a white one as they are often mistaken for police vehicles and it calms some of the lunatics.
Weakness:
Not the most stable in crosswinds. 33 psi in front tyres helps, but Car and Driver have noted it on all Tahoes and Yukons. Mechanically driven engine fan (I hate them) gives insufficient flow for A/C at idle. Will be replaced by Flexalite electric item when it comes to market. Leather in a specialised off-road vehicle. Cheap plastic trim in $39k vehicle. Stupid third row in other Tahoe models. That goes for most SUVs. You want three rows, buy a minivan. After much research and many test drives over the previous year, I finally bought this beast. It''s way more SUV than I set out to buy, but none of the medium size SUVs cut it when it came to off-road fittings as standard. Could have kitted out a Grand Cherokee for off-road and paid nearly as much for Chrysler reliability. Very pleased so far. Similar Products Used: Owned 89 S-10 Blazer and 95 Rodeo, both 4x4 During my research I tested the following: Expedition. Test truck underpowered and unstable. Very nasty to drive. F150 Supercrew. Roe
Strength:
It''s comfortable, quite, and very plush. It only requires 87 octane, that is 40 cents less than 93. Which means it actually cost the same to drive as cars that require 93+. Great turning radius.
Weakness:
Ummm........lets see........still thinking.......none I was actually a Ford fan, but if there is a $38,000 "BANG FOR THE BUCK" this is it. Heated leather, top notch suspention, front/rear heating and AC, huge sun-roof, ect.... The Tahoe was the only choice. I absolutly love it. A best buy. I even told my parent to buy one.
