Strength:

Great power, super reliable, very comfortable ride. Not a problem in the 17,000 miles I have put on it. Recommend to anyone.

Weakness:

Gas mileage.

Bought this 97 blazer from my brother in law a year ago, not ONE single problem with it yet, had 78,000 on it when i got it, has 95,000 now. He bought it with 38,000 on it and replaced the heater core and starter and thats it. Leather is very comfortable, good power, gas mileage is horrible, but i knew that when i bought it.

Strength:

Reliable. Powers up hills (I have the 4.3L engine). 4WD is great for snow, gravel roads, etc. Pretty roomy too, and great for hauling stuff when the back seat is down. A smaller SUV that handles almost like a car (good turning radius!).

Weakness:

Not great gas mileage (15 mpg city driving, a little more on the highway). Kind of loud on the highway too. Watch for rust on the older Blazers, especially on the undercarriage. I've also had the same problem as others with getting from 4WD back to 2WD again. I've even had to pull over, put the car in reverse and then back into drive to get it to go back to 2WD. This is the only big problem I have encountered though.

I love this car. For the price I paid, I couldn't ask for a better car to have as a college student. I haven't had any serious problems (car had 126,000 miles on it when I bought it, now has 140,000), just regular maintenance such as brakes, tires, etc. I drive from Seattle to Spokane and back about once a month, and I never worry about my Blazer breaking down on me... even on the mountain passes. I also do a lot of snowboarding in the winter, and the 4WD is a definite plus in the snow.

Weakness:

Repeated bearing pack replacements, transmission went out 3000 miles after the warranty!

To say this vehicle sucks would not be as accurate as needed. We have had the SAME wheel bearings replaced TWICE, and another wheel bearing pack once. The transmission went out YESTERDAY, 3000 miles AFTER the warranty! I was advised it is an inherent problem that they knew about, but because it happens after the warranty, they aren't required to recall it! They didn't even check for it! Had it three years, if I can get rid of it, it's out of here! Don't even bother with this type of product, it's in the shop more than you drive it!

Strength:

interior, 4x4, lift kits are applied.

Weakness:

transmission, lack of backup vision, uncomfy seats, lack of room in tailgate area. no BUMPERS

i love the drive its comfy and has alot of room. I hate the backseat not comfy at all. I love the way it drives and handles on back roads. but is very stiff. on all roads and the back tailgate squeaks and is annoying, however this is because of previous owners lack of a tool bench therefore its unalingned. over all ok vehicle but if you want cushioning you miught want something else.

Strength:

Interior Powertrain Forward visibility

Weakness:

Lack of storage space Rear visibility Gauge cluster

Bought it from my uncle with 165K. Despite the high mileage, it is still in good condition. 4.3L is a strong powertrain. Surprising amount of rear leg room. The leather is of good quality too. Now with a K&N, it is quick and somewhat nimble. The analog gauge cluster is goofy. Rear visibility could be better. As long as you keep the rust away, this could be a very good, dependable, reliable vehicle.

Strength:

Rides well

Weakness:

4x4

The suv is a nice vehicle but I have problems with the 4x4 - when I put in the 4x4 mode it works great teh probelm I have is getting it back to 2W drive - I am not able to. This probelm has occured since day one I dealt with it through the warranty and Chevy said that if there was a problem after the warranty they would take care of it. Yeah right - it ahs not occured - Will see what happens. I am going to have dig into my pocket to solve this problem. If you have money to waste this is a great car for you.

Strength:

Weakness:

Body -- If it wasn't rotting out on me I could've probably got another 5yrs out of this truck!

I love my Blazer! -- At $10,500 (Canadian funds) mine came with the 4.3litre (which was an expensive option in '89!), A/C, tilt, PW, PDL and it seems like every other option there was! (incl side-running boards, grille guard and exterior, rear-mounted spare). It has had a long life and even though it is only at ~250,000km (~150,000mi), the deterioration of the body means its soon for the grave. Nevertheless I have had 8 great years out of a truck that was already 6yrs old when I got it, and I have happily placed my order for a new 2003 Blazer to replace it! It is a shame that 2003 will be the last model year for them!
