Weakness:
GM repair & salesmen.. the truck has 62,000 miles on it so i dont mind a couple of things wrong, but I wish I had more space to write down everything. day 3 of owning the veh. the battery went dead. at first the dealership acted like it wasnt there problem (DONT EVER BUY FROM THEM). after many days of wrong conclusions they found out it was the power seat. The driver door is a 50/50 shot of opening from the inside & it still hasnt been fixed. also the airbag was broke & it took forever for them to fix & pay for it, it was a battle for them to take responsiblity for everything that has been going on.. there is alot more but i dont have enough space to write in.. I called GM & they couldnt care.. Im sure most of the trucks chevy made were great, but not mine..hmm, i cant figure out why anyone traded this truck back in? Appears to have many small elements go wrong. I am concerned about all the radiator and transmission problems listed on this site. I have only heard negative things regarding the Trail Blazer while waiting for my Blazer to be fixed. Even the place that changes my oil, a local repair station, sees far to many problems with Blazers. I really wanted an SUV. I am active and own a boat, although I do not tow it. The vehicle has 75k on it. I still love the ride and the look of the vehicle. It has needed new seat covers, speakers, windshield wiper motor,Power steering hose, at 45000 it got all new hoses, Upper ball joints, rear wiper motor, tie rods etc on left side, and the driver door is loosening( I have been told it will need all new bushings soon). All but the door loosening and hoses were covered by a warranty or recall. It has spent a fair amount of time in the shop, but the dealer has been real good to me. I follow the GM service guide to the "T". I would like to buy another in 2 more years when I have 100k on it, but I have had better luck with my past 3 Hondas going 160k without any problems at all. I will continue to read the reviews and make up my mind then. Similar Products Used: Jeep Cherokee sport, Jeep Wrangler |

Strength:
great in snow, ride,looks
Weakness:
leaker Bought my blazer new. It has been great to this point w/ 55k miles. It has been a leaker which is my ONLY complaint. torque converter was bad causing leak from day 1 which was promptly fixed by the dealer with a loaner. power steering pump leaks and oil cooler line leaks which is all minor leaks but annoyance. Besides that highly recommended. Similar Products Used: astro 88 with 122k and minor problems |

Strength:
4.3L Vortec V-6, tows well, cruise control has been durable and reliable. love the space and tailgate with window that pops open by button. have carried a couch with no problem in back of it.
Weakness:
Transmission not a good by design. Doesn't corner well I bought this Blazer with 95,000 miles. A few days later my wife called and was stranded on the road with it. The air conditioner had locked up and had thrown a belt. I have had it 3 years. I have 175,000 miles on it now and have replaced/repaired/rebuilt: the transmission, alternator twice, muffler, starter, ball joint (drivers) , blower motor and window lift motor on drivers side. The antilock breaking system has not been all it was cracked up to be, sometimes problematic. But all in all. And it was the last year of the old body style. The engine isn't burning as much oil as the gaskets are leaking. A couple of spark plugs have fouled out due to being oil drenched, but all in all, I'd have to say I have gotten my moneys worth out it. I'd rate it an 8 of 10. Strength:
roomy, lots of cargo space, 4x4
Weakness:
gas mileage I've had my Blazer for over a year and i love it. It goes great in the snow, never had a problem with 4x4, and i've never had to replace anything yet. The only problem we've had is the recall on the taillights and hazard lights, but GM covers the cost on that. Similar Products Used: none |

gas mileage but i'm not whining it was my choice to buy a SUV and not a economy car. Transmission can be trouble some. I have had the car it's whole life. It has had it's fair share of problems the Alternator, Transmission, Oil lines, Radiator, Starter, U-joints, and more. But most of it is from normal wear and tear. None of the problems occured before 165,000 miles it now has 191,000 and is still running strong not a hint of anything wrong with the engine. What can i say a typical Chevy Truck i had a Chevy 1500 that had 215,000 when i sold it and it is still running strong. Great power, super reliable, very comfortable ride. Not a problem in the 17,000 miles I have put on it. Recommend to anyone.
Weakness:
Gas mileage. Bought this 97 blazer from my brother in law a year ago, not ONE single problem with it yet, had 78,000 on it when i got it, has 95,000 now. He bought it with 38,000 on it and replaced the heater core and starter and thats it. Leather is very comfortable, good power, gas mileage is horrible, but i knew that when i bought it.
