Blazer LS 4 door
Strength:
I loved the interior/exterior of this truck. Loved the trunk space when the seats flipped down. The truck seems to handle well on the highway and has decent pick-up. Smooth ride. No blind spots I noticed. Quiet engine. Good on gas.
Weakness:
The heating system. It seems to always blow hot air on your feet regardless if the heat is off and the AC is on. So far so good. For the money spent, I got a great looking truck that rides nicely. I love my Chevy Blazer. I would refer a Chevy Blazer to anyone who wants an affordable SUV that performs well. Maybe people haven't been happy with this truck but you get what you pay for. A new 4-Runner or Nissan is more costly than the Blazer. For $20,000 more I'm sure I could get a truck that DOES perform better than this but I'm in no position to spend that kind of money for an SUV. This truck works for me! Similar Products Used: Nissan Pathfinder. My Pathfinder was a 1991 and had 160,000 miles before I turned it in. I put no money into it until the end and never had any big problems. I would surely buy another. Maybe even a Tahoe. |

Blazer 4x4 full sized
Strength:
Had the potential for four wheel drive capability. Some people like the styling.
Weakness:
Dependability, ride, handling, transfer case, engine, flywheel, axles, mileage, it was a Blazer. At least once a week the Blazer required serious repairs. The 4x4 drive train didn't work worth a darn, the fuel system and flywheel had serious problems that could never seem to be fixed, it handled horribly (extremely unsafe), the ride was uncomfortable, it was noisey, the interior was cheaply designed, and I found absolutely nothing good about the truck. (The wife wanted one was the only reason we bought it.) I honestly cannot think of any good reason for a person to choose a Blazer. Similar Products Used: Nothing I've owned was anywhere as bad as the Blazer. Four Rangers, a Silverado, a 1970 GMC pickup, and a Bronco all stand heads above the Blazer. |

-Rattles in dash and glovebox This is my first and last GM purchase. I bought this Blazer for the summer to get me to work and school until I could shop for a newer SUV. Overheated two seperate times within a week of owning it. Has overheated a total of 5 times in the past 4 months. Not to mention countless repairs of brake rotors, egr valve(which is still bad), wiper switch, fan clutch, thermostat, the list goes on. It's spent more time in the shop than at my house. Now the catalytic converter is going bad. I previously owned a '94 Jeep Cherokee and never had a single problem with it in over 6 years of use. After the holidays I will be selling this piece of crap and purchasing something more reliable. This car is a death trap, once it cutoff while driving 25-30 mph because of the exhaust problem. I've heard the newer models aren't much better. Even with all of the problems, it has no pickup at all. I can floor it and still get passed by and old man in a Geo Metro. If you ever get the speed up to 45 or over, you might as well pull the emergency brake to stop. All in all, it's the worst car I've ever driven. Similar Products Used: 1994 Jeep Cherokee |

none I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED The Blazer very reliable Engine has 170,000 runs like a champ. I,am not gentle with it either I beat the hell out of it. Trans in EXELLENT CONDITION, never once did and warning lights come on. Startes on a dime even in chicago winters, had it over a year only needed a tune up did it my self brakes works great. A/C and heat work excellent. handles like a truck like it should, came fully loaded every option still works like new. nice torgh good acceleration even when loaded up, only a v6 2.8 TBI but it will get up and go. Two of my friends had Blazers and recommended it to me very satisfided, my first Truck. From experience I will be a GM owner for life. Similar Products Used: Ford Bronco 2 (unreliable) |

Hmmm where do I begin. On my way home from the dealership I noticed that the bottom corner of my door was bent in a bit and that the top part of the dashboard by the windsheild had a bubble. So I returned it back to them. It took them 5 business days to correct problems. On the way back from the dealership I noticed that the dashboard was rattling by the glove box, so when I got home I took apart the glove box only to notice that the glove box light didn't work and that the had left out 6 screws in that area alone. They also scratched a couple on interior parts and cut the wire to the antenna for my remote starter in the process of rplacing the dash. So I returned it and they re-mounted the dashboard. It still rattles but I gave up on that. Then both door panels began to rattle. They replace both of the door panels, but the driver side still rattles. Then I noticed a weird noise coming from under the hood. Of course the first two times I brought it their attention no one heard it. Finally I took the manager out for a test drive and they found that the accelerator cable was vibrating against something. Its not fixed completely but its better. To top it all off this week we finally got some snow and thats when I noticed a fluid leak coming from the front drivers side corner of the truck. I tried to locate the leak. I couldn't find it. And this is where I stand. I have to bring it back to the dealer again. I counted all of the days that the dealer has had my truck, and its exactly 12 business days. The kicker is that I only have 2014 miles on it. What a mistake it was buying this truck. I HAVE A 92 HYUNDAI EXCEL WITH 135,000 MILES ON IT THAT HAS LESS RATTLES, LEAKS LESS FLUID THAN A 2001 BLAZER WITH 2014 MILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Shakes at highway speeds even after complete tire balance. Does NOT do a good job of dampening out road harshness. -I should have listened to the warnings. American cars truly are inferior products. Weakness:
Not much of an off roader! Poor quality. Interior failing apart! Radio over heats. Side panels are lose and fall off. Power window on drivers side making bad noise. Trany cooling line brust on first long road trip. Exhuast feel apart at 10K. Driving lights vibrate. Love the Blazer, hate the problems. Wish that GM would put better quality in there effort. Dealership couldn't find a problem if you point it out to them. They had it for two days and couldn't find the problem with the exhaust or the radio. Took the service manager for a ride and pointed out the problem for him. Still could diagnose. Had to shotgun the exhuast system to correct it. Radio still over heating! - mushy sterring I definately do not recommend this vehicle! I am borderline on recommending against anything that Cheverolet makes, but my only experience is with this Blazer. Similar Products Used: I'm driving a Nissan Xterra now. I hav'nt been driving it for more than a month so it's hard to judge, but it definately handles better. It feels more stable, more roomy, and my experience with Nissan dealership is far superior. |
