Strength:

4.3L Vortec a good, solid engine. Handling/steering is good. Ride is comfortable. I like the body style of the 94''s before they changed it in 95.

Weakness:

ABS warning light stays on all the time. I have received a recall notice on a "chip" of some sort, will take it in soon. Air compressor gave out at 101,000 miles, trouble with the EGR valve a year ago, plus some fuel injection problems.

One of the best investments that I have ever made. I bought this used Blazer in 1998, with 82,000 miles on it and it''s going strong at 105,000 miles. The vehicle''s exterior/interior are in good shape, plus the 4-wheel drive is fantastic in the snow. The engine is powerful and gas mileage is ok (most SUV''s will not obtain the kind of gas mileage that a little 4-cyclinder Honda may get!) The interior is comfortable and so far, all the buttons and switches still work. I''m planning on keeping this Chevy for a while, nice not to have a payment.

Strength:

Good in the snow

Weakness:

Poor quality, workmanship. Gas guzzler for a V6, electrical problems, mechanical problems, suspension is crap, warranty is non existent, etc. etc.

BIGGEST PIECE OF CRAP I''VE EVER OWNED! I bought the thing new in February 2000 and have had nothing but trouble since. I had to replace the entire exhaust at 30,000 kilometres, the wheel bearing at 50k, the rear brake lights keep fogging up because of condesation, (the dealership offered to drill a hole in the light to let the water out instead of offering to replace it with a new unit and the truck was still under "warranty"!, the oil lines have been replaced at 100k, the suspension feels like you''re on a roller coaster when you go over the smallest bump, I think there is a hole in the gas tank because the fuel economy is disgusting! The seat recliner handles both broke because they''re so cheap, the "check engine" light keeps coming on all the time, when I put the turn signal on I get a chime like the door is open, etc. etc. etc. etc!!!!!! Don''t buy one of these pieces of crap unless you want to spend thousands of dollars on repairs!

Strength:

Go anywhere ability, lusty 4.3 engine, with the ability to out drag some so called hot hatches.

Weakness:

Rear wash pipe running through passenger compartment, the wash tank leaked into the passenger side, it wasn''t until I refilled it that I found where the water was going. The ABS unit was only held on with one bolt from the factory! The drive line can be a little clunky to say the least.

Being new to 4x4 and having just got into the car sales game after 22 years in the Navy I came accross a Blazer at the Vauxhall dealers I went to work for. Although it hasn''t been without faults I have enjoyed oning it so far.

Strength:

Great power, very reliable, drives great.

Weakness:

Oil lines and the spark plugs are hell getting to.

I love this SUV! I bought it with over 130,000 miles on it. The interior and exterior are flawless (until my wife was backing up and knocked off the power side view mirror) I change the fluids very regularly and put gas in it.....that''s it. It rides great, absolutely no squeaks. The steering is as tight as it probably was in ''95 and the ABS works great (Thank God). This thing has every option and they all work great. I have noticed recently that oil is leaking a little where the oil lines are from the oil filter pad to the radiator so I''m going to replace those..........oh yeah and I had to replace the factory water pump..but hell it lasted over 130,000 miles!! I''ll buy another...I''m just a die hard Chevy fan.

Strength:

Nice styling, high profile is nice. Four wheel drive has been reliable.

Weakness:

Electrical system. Brakes. Transmission. Front suspension. Maintenance costs.

The Blazer is notorious for mechanical problems. While taking dilivery of my Blazer, I wandered into the shop and happened to find a mechanic on brake. I asked him about the Blazer and he stated.."If it weren''t for the Blazer I''d be out of a job." I asked him to elaborate on this and he basically said that he repairs more Blazers than any other GM vehicle. I told him I was just taking delivery of my 96 and he said with a grin..."I''m sorry, good luck." From that point on I basically knew I was in trouble. Unfortunately, like some people I but more vehicle than I could really afford, so with the high payments I was really worried about repairs. It had problems from the onset. Noises from the front end, electrical problems in the interior lighting which would kill the battery. The ABS light and Check Engine light were on frequently. I would like to know how to kill these "Dealership" lights. I call them that because when they come on the Dealership takes my money. It''s a poor investment overall and I''m dissapointed I purchased the vehicle. I have 93,450 miles on it now and wish it had some resale value. My 90 Toyota Corrola is so much better mechanically. Although its unfair to compare the two types of vehicles, for the money, the Toyota was a far better investment.

...in every square inch. The Flintstones had better quality transportation than I do.

JUNK ON WHEELS...or should I say, junk falling off wheels. The repair costs for this sorry-excuse-of-a-vehicle are astronomical. I am facing over $3,000 in repairs THIS MONTH. I''m only at 82,000 miles right now. Look for the following: * fuel pump replacement * complete replacement of front brakes * front-end overhaul (ties, rods, etc.) * 4WD doesn''t engage * no heat * windshield wiper motor replacement * fuel gauge broken I''m sure I''m missing something. It''s hard to keep track. It''s unbelievable. I filed a report at Chevrolet (waste of time). STAY CLEAR OF THESE VEHICLES.

This vehicle has a lot of engine and transmission problems. The brakes give out all the time, which makes it a "thrilling" ride if you''re into that.

I will NEVER buy another Chevy Blazer again.

Strength:

Smoother ride than the 1980''s models.

Weakness:

With leather interior, a large amount of rubbing-squeeking-poor design. The bracket system has already worked itself loose from the luggage rack and fell off. The transmission went bad at 38,000 miles. The weather stripping on the windows had fallen off.

No research was performed prior to purchasing this vehicle-the purchase was based on a previous ownership when I had a 1981 Blazer and it had outdone itself. This time around, it has been very dissappointing. Purchased at 31,000 miles - used - after driving 7,000 miles the transmission crapped out and all the dealer could say for an explanation was, "good thing you bought an extended warranty". Already having "nickel & dime" things to replace. The highest dissappointment is what I had read from someone else earlier, the manufacturer/dealer is not willing to stand behind its product.
