Strength:

Engine, handling as far as an SUV goes, looks, quiet ride. The touring suspension is a little rough but handles better than the standard suspension.

Weakness:

Gas mileage, turning radius, drivers seat has a sharp object that eventually poked a hole in the rear side material. A little uncomfortable on extended trips. I blame it on the seat and my 6'3" frame. So I would say the seats aren't the best.

Bought the vehicle new and have not had a single problem with it. It currently has 47,500 miles on it and have been very pleased with it. The reviews I have read are pretty scarey. I figure I'll install a tranny cooler in the hopes I do not end up with some of the problems posted here. I do all my own maintenance since I found that the dealers do an inadequate job. (Silicone spray keeps the serpentine belt from squeaking and the CV boots from cracking)

Versital, Easy to Maintain, Fun to Upgrade, A Go Anywhere Do ANYTHING Fun SUV!

Weakness:

GAS IS A *@#%$!

What a Joy this SUV has been for me! Not only does it get me from A to B and back, but in anykind of weather, rough terrain, or distance it puts up to my test! I bought it used, but I'm currently remolding the whole inside and outside of the vehicle to give it a newer fresher look! As far as the engine (which is a 6 cylinder VTech) it needed nothing but simple check ups, within the 10 Years it as been on market!! You can do SOOOOOO much with this car, easy to upgrade, (recently put in those NEW EURO TAILS, and I'm telling ya I looks GOOD!)if your planning to have a kick ass stereo system in it, you got ALOT of room to work with! The ONLY set back that I've had with this car is that, IT IS GAS HUNGRY!! But minor set back for me, since I hardly ever go too far anyways, the Island isn't really THAT BIG!

Strength:

I like the way the car looks!

Weakness:

Runs rough, expensive to maintain. Transmission started going out at 50,000 miles.

My 1997 Chevy Blazer has been one of the top 5 worst mistakes I've ever made. I had it in the shop the first week I owned it because SES light was on. Since then I've replaced the water pump, windshield wiper motor and then best of all, the transmsission started going out around the time I put 50,000 miles on it. Last month I replaced ball joints on left and right side. The car only has 70,000 miles on it. I can't wait until I fork out the dough to replace the transmsission! (I can't afford to do it now because I'm still making car payments!) I'm sure there are other repairs I've forgotten about.

Strength:

Looks good on the outside as well as the inside. Rides good in snow.

Weakness:

Crappy gas mileage. Transmission replacement! Engine light comes on alot.

I bought this SUV about a year ago...and now I am putting a new transmission into it! It's 5 yrs old and only has 54,000 miles on it! It is a great SUV, don't get me wrong, but the costs to fix it are outrageous. I've had to replace the motor for my windshield wipers and have had some repairs done to my radiator. The service engine light seems to come on every 3-4 months, even though this vehicle is well maintained. I probably should have brought my car to the dealership everytime the light came on, they may have been able to give me an early warning about my transmission. The mechanic I was going to never saw the leakage of transmission fluid or radiator fluid! My first thoughts were to trade it in, but I can't now. After the "transmission specialist" looked at it, it was too late. He was surprised that I was able to drive it there. After reading a few reviews, I've noticed that transmission problems are commom in this type of vehicle. I wish I knew before it was too late.

Good looks, Lots of power, good 4wd

Weakness:

So-so gas mileage, some of interior problems(tearing and cracking) back spare rattles a bit

There is nothing wrong with this vehicle. I got it used with 50,000 miles on it and it has no major problems. The blazer has plenty of power and the 4wd works great off-road.

Strength:

Very powelful engine and always starts on the first shot

Weakness:

cooling system, and after so many miles on the engine it starts to lose power.

very good truck. worth the money it has the 4.3 vortec and highway suspension on it. Its major problem is it doesnt like the cooling system. I have blown at least 15 performance waterpump gaskets. replaced 3 differnt thermostats a new water pump. and a new fan clutch which stopped the blowing of the gaskets. It was well maintained vehicle before i owned it do to the fact it was a highway patrol vehicle. So you know it was well maintained. Like all other chevys it burns through the gas very well and knocks when i dont put in the premium gas. The only other thing i have trouble with is the anti lock brakes. which do not work.

shakes, breaks down too much - GAS HOG!!!

My Blazer worked well for the 2st 6 months then the fuel pump went out and still my service engine soon light some on now - intermittently, it also jolts on the freeway. Shakes at high speeds - it is very odd. We have a 94 S-10 and it works wonders....

Strength:

Tough, usually reliable, good offroad performance (not for soccer moms!) huge cargo capacity, good looking :)

Weakness:

It''ll nickel-and-dime you death - get a GMPP warranty if you''re buying it used, and sell it before the warranty dies.

Man...I wish I could say I loved my Blazer, but it''s been pretty rocky. We owned a 1984 S-10 Blazer before this one, and I wish we still had it - it was solid as a rock. We currently own the 1995 2-door as well as a 1997 and 2001 4-door. The 1995 has had the worst problems - three EGR replacements, four fuel pump replacements (dealer service is not up to par, would be my guess) a new rear end, front idle arm replacement, and minor recall stuff. Most notably, all three trucks have had oil-filter hose work done on them - after six years, Chevy hasn''t figured out how to make a reliable remote oil filter. When it''s running, the ''95 is a tough, reliable truck, but when the engine cuts out on you at highway speeds, it makes you kind of nervous. :)
