Blazer Zr2
Strength:
-Higher off the road than most other blazers/other suvs (31X10.5in tires and an extra 3" lift than other blazers) -not many ppl own Zr2s -good power -off-road capable right from the factory (but i havn't taken mine off road yet, still too clean and nice) -nice cargo area, and with the roof-rack its easy to fit a ton of stuff -shift-on-the-fly 4wd -Overall fun to drive!
Weakness:
-loves gas (but don't all suvs?!?!) -fuel pump broke while i was in the middle of the highway--that was pretty scary but $600 dollars later its all set (yah that sucked but i still LOVE this car!) -top speed is 95mph (who races suv's anyway?!) -thanks to the designer for putting the spare tire in front of my back window, and even better that they put a wiper there, now even in the heaviest rain i can always make sure i have a nice view of my spare :). (don't worry though, the rear view mirrows do a fine job of giving a good view of the rear) its not really a weakness, its just something humorus. -Brakes could be a little stronger, but unless you're outta control they won't be a problem -ONCE YOU GET ONE, YOU'LL WANT ANOTHER! Ok, I'm a college student and I just got this car a little less than a year ago. I got it with 50k miles on it. I'm in love with it (i consider it my g/f). It's got great looks, I love the extra lift it has and the 2 doors make it seem beefier. I would NEVER have bought any other blazer unless it was the ZR2!!! though i have listed some weakness, i really would suggest getting the zr2, tis a great car and you'll love it, i do! I have done some mods to my car: stereo upgrade including Kicker KX 500.2 amp and 2 Alpine Type-R 12". Also Hyperwhite headlights, and soon ill put in a K&N Intake and an exhaust. Strength:
Four wheel drive, and strong engine
Weakness:
Idler and Pittman arms I don't know what is up with all the bad reviews. I'v had my Blazer for a while now. It has 174,000 miles on it. Althought I'v had a couple of minor problems with it, I still like it. It has an excellent Vortech motor, which has a lot of power. And the 4-wheel drive in it is great. It always starts up every morning. |

Strength:
Looks, creature comforts, fits in my 1930 size garage, pulling boat & snowmobiles and 4 wheel drive system.
Weakness:
Gas tank should be larger, around 25 gallons I am fairly easy to please. Blazer has every option. Bought new, first time I've had a loaded vehicle. Does everything I expected. There is a recall I haven't taken care of yet, so I haven't been back to dealer and have no opinion about service. Definetly rides like a truck. Similar Products Used: none |

Chevy Blazer S10 Tahoe 4X4
Strength:
Great gas mileage, turns on a dime, smooth comfortable ride This is the second 93 S10 Tahoe I have owned. I totally love it. I get great gas milage for an SUV, at around 25 mpg. IF I drive 55-60 mph. Go faster and it drinks it. My other 93 the tranny started changing hard, took it and had a T-Tech done and never had any problems with it. Had lots of problems no one could fix until it was seen by the right mechanic. So to all you having problems, maybe you need a new mechanic!!! Strength:
Looks and Runs great - No engine work. Good Power 130,000 miles and going strong. I would buy another, but I don't need to.
Weakness:
Ball joints I purchased this Great looking truck with 100,000 miles on it. The previous owner had the oil changesd and kept the interior and exterior looking great. Unfortunately I don't believe the front end was ever greased. It hasn't seemed to have caused any problems yet. I had both the upper and lower ball joints changed on both sides at 120,000 miles. The CV Joint boot was cracked, but I replaced it in time, without damage to the joint for $9.99. At 125,000 the right side upper ball joint rubber boot was separating from the joint and not holding grease; Mechanic that put them on went out of business. Hmm wonder why? Other than that a great truck. Nice looking great four wheel drive. I even took the thing offroading on some pretty nasty trails. Accelerates and Handles well. Gas mileage is good for an SUV. I don't understand what happened to the rest of these people's Blazers. Mine's great. Similar Products Used: 1989 GMC Jimmy - rotted away for no reason. Bubbled out of nowhere. |

Strength:
Looks, good option package, leather, CD, etc. Good 4x4, roomy, comfortable, powerful.
Weakness:
Fuel system faulty. We have had nothing but problems with our Blazer. Although we still love the looks of it, the size, options, etc. the amount we have paid in repairs has been ridiculous. The whole fuel system is obviously faulty, we have replaced the fuel injection system twice, the fuel pump twice, the catalytic converter, the list goes on. I know others who have 94, 95 Blazers that have had the same problems. I would definitely not buy another Blazer! Similar Products Used: 1991 Chevrolet S10 truck, no problems with it. |

Strength:
Good looking, nice ride. Great in collisions, we wrecked ours and airbags worked great to save my life.
Weakness:
anything under the hood or drivetrain. Unfortunately our experience with the chevy blazer is the same as others listed here. We have owned the vehicle almost 4 years and I don't feel comfortable driving it because I'm afraid something could go wrong at any time. We had the tale-tale signs of a bad transmisson at around 40,000 miles and now it idles rough and sometimes stalls. Its probably that spider thingy someone mentioned earlier in the engine. We are gladly trading it in for a honda and peace of mind. Its a comfortable, great looking vehicle though. Too bad Chevy is ripping off the american people who cant afford to drive a new car every year. Buy another SUV! Similar Products Used: Honda Civic!!! |

Haavard Hoiseth
Strength:
Power full, 200HP V6, can pull very eavy trailers. Great 4x4, can get thrue most terrains with 4x4 LOW. Great long trip car.
Weakness:
The gas milage could have been lower. The vehicles front is not very strong against rust, I had to change the front. So now it is like new. I bought this car because I needed a powerfull vehicle and a effective 4x4, because of Norways heavy amounts of snow and ice. And I was impressed with both of the features I asked for. There is no problem getting thru the heavy snow with the 4x4 LOW, the snow is about 40-50cm high. Even towing a trailer up an icy hill is no problem for the Blazer. It has a lot of room inside, and the seats and interior is quite ok, for an 1992 model. The only drawback is that the gasmilage is high because one gallon in Norway cost about 5-6 dollar. Yes its true. But except that the car is perfect for snowy and rough terrains. I have had no problems with it, only the usual service. So run and buy now. Strength:
Okay gas mileage for an SUV, lots of room.
Weakness:
Cheap plastic interior I purchased my Blazer used with 13,000 miles on it about a year and a half ago. In general, I like it and I have not had any significant problems with it -- although one of the plastic thingamajigs on the a/c vent broke and cannot be repaired without replacing the whole vent ($60.00 for the part). Forget it, I'll stick my finger in the vent to move it when I want to change the direction of the air flow! I currently have 66,000 miles on it and I am looking forward to owning it for a long time to come.
