BMW X5 (2010 and older) SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The X5 represents BMW's first foray into the popular sport-utility-vehicle marketplace. Billed as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" by its maker, the X5 is designed to handle like a true BMW. The redesigned X5 is longer than its predecessor and features a third-row seat that is best for kids only. The ride is still stiff and choppy, but handling is capable and secure. Both the six- and eight-cylinder engines are powerful. The shift lever and iDrive driver-interaction system are both needlessly complicated.

Strength:

Both have an amazing acceleration (especially the 4.6), Beautifully desinged and very comfotable interior, Rides like a sedan (4.6's ride quality is just as nice as my 2000 MB S430)

Weakness:

Yes they both do have a not so great mpg statistics. And I thought the 4.6 was just a little overpriced. Problematic with all the options available when I purchased but both vechiles come very nicely equiped just standard.

Well all I have to say is that the X5 is an amazing machine. I also own the 3.0 as well as the 4.6. I personally enjoy the 4.6 more than the 3.0 but they are both outstanding. Neither of them have an amazing mpg standing but then again if you are in the market for an SUV that really cant be your top priority. And if you are looking for a rugged SUV luxury cars such as the X5 should not be on the list because after all BMW was going for more the luxury look and design rather than the Wrangler type of car.

I used to own the ML320, which was a nice car but now after the X5 has lost its status in my mind.

BMW mystique that aggravates 'Jap-crap' owners. "Ultimate 5600 pound Driving Machine" on big wheels. Best safety rating available. 20MPG, Fantastic brakes and great handling. Design and shape that appeals to mature adults.

Weakness:

None if you know what you are looking for and are willing to pay for it.

Excellent choice for those wanting safety for their loved ones and who can afford one without the complaints of those who can't. Typical BMW quality...excellent. Fantastic Dealer Support and service. Perfect size.

Goes very fast I liked the equipment.

Weakness:

Not very good of road. I didn't like it in the end it was overpriced and is just a bigger version of the 5 series estate.

The X5 looked like a faboulas car but the price too high and it burnt too much petrol. My family didn't like it they said it looked like van.

Strength:

Strong engine (4.4L), gas pedal very senstive. Handling is so far the best compare with the other SUV I drove (MB, Grand Cherookee... Etc), and for sure, the appearance is great, it is a great designe.

Weakness:

Something I don't like about are: unconfortable with sport packages... But acceptable. Very bad Services.... I don't know about others, but the BMW dealer I go is really bad... I ask for an appoitment, and the guy told me "no more appoitment, next year maybe, bye"... You can see the image... Always has problems with the sensors... And I read there are so many people complain about the BMW 's services, so, it is not just me.

Honesty, this car has its advantages and disadvantages. But I don't see the point why Acura dealers keep blame on the competitors in here.... If you do have enough confidence with the cars you sell, you won't need to blame on other's cars. The X5 is not a perfect machine, but it gets it's balls.

Strength:

Very solid. Corners like a sports car. Luxury interior. Nearly twice the gas mileage as a couple of my other SUV's (I really don't understand all of the gas economy knocks. Go drive an Escalade or Denali, then complain)..

Weakness:

Haven't found one yet.

So far, this is the finest car I've owned (and I've owned Lincolns, Mercedes, Jeep, Cadillac Escalades, Denalis, etc. It handles like a car, has room like an SUV, and lines like a sports sedan. What more could you ask for?

Strength:

Good sport performance for an SUV in town. Comfortable to ride in. BMW styling.

Weakness:

Expensive for what you get. #1 Problem: Tailgate is a pain when loading heavy objects. Minor Problems: Latch on tailgate repaired 2 times so far. Coffee cups holders are a waste of space for a decent size cup - nor are the rear ones rugged enough! Not great winter performance (but adequate). Doors are HEAVY. Thr back of your pants get ready messed up when exiting the car in bad conditions. Luggage cover mechanism is really tricky to install/remove so ours is never installed now. GAS! ..and more GAS!

O/k. We had lived with a Jeep Grand Cheroke for 6 years before this. The Jeep seemed to handle much better in the snow and is more user friendly for rough conditions and hard use. The X5 is a much better town car though (if pricy). We use the X5 to get to our cottage in the winter 3 hours north of Toronto and w/o winter tires it was pretty bad.
