Strength:
Performed great in the snow this winter.
Weakness:
Brakes wear out freuqently. My wife bought new in Feb, 2001, have had the driver's seat tracks replaced (seat rocked back and forth in turns), center console armrest had to be replaced (developed large wrinkles in it). At 19,000 miles the brakes had to be replaced (along with new rotors, all covered under warranty). Car developed a thumping noise coming from the front end during starts and turns on hills, (turns out both front struts were bad - car only has 39,000 miles) Brakes need replacing again and the dealer says he "always" turns the rotors, if he doesn't then the car develops brake problems. Never heard that one before. The brakes have never made any screeching noise and I asked the dealer if the car didn't have this audible warning when the brakes needed to be replaced, he said they did but couldn't tell me why there was no noise but brakes are bad. Going elsewhere to have the brakes done. Overall the car has been great but I am going nuts over some of these things. Engine also knocks at times but has never had less than 93 octane gas. |

MDX Touring
Strength:
Space, luxury, accelleration, gas mileage, all wheel drive
Weakness:
US dealers selling above MSRP and Blue Book. Plus Honda made the Pilot ugly and cheap feeling in order to keep the gap between the two cars. Great SUV! I just came out of a lease of a 2001 Pathfinder which I loved except a little cramped and gas mileage. I am 6'3", 250 and MDX has plenty of driver room with ample passenger and trunk space. The drive in more car-like. I can actually feet the car "pull" as it accelates vs. the "push of the rear wheel Pathfinder. One reason I bought it was an article I read on how Canadians are flooding US market with these cars b/c they are made up there, thus same car (same for Honda Odyssey). Since US dealers are selling at and above MSRP or Blue Book, plenty of room for Canucks to sell and US buyer to save. One problem: Acura USA will not warrant, so Canadian sellers buy warranties for them. I bought uses 2002 Touring with $2K in accessories for $5K under Blue Book AFTER shipping. Checl out eBay for a deal. Similar Products Used: 2001 Nissan Pathfinder |

Strength:
Plenty of room inside 3rd row of seats Tight steering and brakes Sleek - not "boxy" looking
Weakness:
Rotten egg smell from exhaust Slightly uncomfortable steering wheel design Only 1 of the rear seats rolls forward With baby seat in rear, can't get into the 3rd row seats Far better than our previous Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited! Plenty of room inside for the kids or hauling things, without the need for a big "boxy" exterior. Everything is nice and tight, it handles well, and rides a little smoother than the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Only problem so far is a "rotten egg" smell. ? Strength:
smooth ride good ground clearance rearview camera
Weakness:
Occasional starting problem Some rattling not as responsive in D5 Very nice suv, rides like a car, but has fair off-road capabilities. Occasional starting problems seem to be very common in the reviews I've seen, I've experienced only once since buying 4 weeks ago. The engines just keeps ticking away but does not start. Turn off ignition, start again works. Similar Products Used: BMW X5 3.0 Volvo XC90 |

Strength:
Ride & handling Looks (subjective, of course) Overall quality Plenty of power Fun features - rear camera, NAV, Rear DVD 3rd row seats Interior spaciousness and visibility
Weakness:
Stereo quality (speakers are lousy, even with upgrade) Plastic wood trim Great vehicle - superb ride, handling, power. Have had 6 months with ZERO problems. Tremendous value, even at MSRP. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Compared to Volvo XC90, Lexus GX470 - just a better value. Similar Products Used: Volvo XC90 |

Strength:
Great ride, nice on the inside and the options are equal to the other SUVs.
Weakness:
I am having a big problem with this sulfur smell and "sometimes" starting issue. I did not spend this kind of money to smell "rotten eggs" for 4 years. I'm very disappointed at this point and am fighting a battle with my dealer. The wipers turn on when a bug hits the window which can be scary. The windows should all be on auto. If I have the baby on the back passenger seat, with her seat, getting in the back row is impossible!!! I also must climb through the back to pop up the back row. This car rides nice, I had the Lexus RX300 and I loved that car. This seems similar except for the extra row of seats. |

Strength:
Everything seems great so far. The voice Navigation system is awesome. The seats are extremely comfortable, and the seating arrangements are the best I've seen in a SUV. I've never paid close to sticker in my life, but I did on this one--it's just a great value, and Acura knows it.
Weakness:
Exterior styling isn't very exciting. Ride can be a bit stiff (and noisy) on rough roads. We got the MDX with Touring Pkg, NAV, and Entertainment (DVD). The kids love the entertainment center. The nav is very easy to operate, and the display shows what's behind you when backing up. This is a great feature. Well engineered vehicle, seems to have everything a family needs. We had a Lexus LX470 which was a softer ride, and a bit better in fit and finish, but so far, I've found the MDX to be more fun to drive, more economical, and the rear seats are far more comfortable and easier to use than the Lexus. Strength:
Not bad looking
Weakness:
See above Highly over rated auto. It has way too many little annoyances to be considered a top rated vehicle. The brakes are loud, the suspension is loud, the front seat "clunks" on turns, the driver side window rattles when not completely up, the gas tank sloshes, the computer is never really in sync-all of these things are described by the dealer as "characteristic of the vehicle." etc. |

Strength:
It is nice to have the 3rd seat fold so easy, and effortlessly.
Weakness:
Not as strong as claimed(260 horse power?) It is a little bit over-rated. This model has been out for 3 years and the salepeople are still think they have the hottest car in the world. How can they ask for $4000 over MSRP?(even they claimed they will give extra options to compensate!) I have to walk away and buy a Mercedes M class for $2000 off MSRP. The dirty part: all acura dealers called up each other to ask for $1000 over MSRP in the bay area(the salesperson told me about it during the Auto show in November 2002). This is really bad.
