Acura MDX SUV | Crossover

Acura MDX SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Acura MDX is Acura’s midsize luxury crossover SUV with seating for seven occupants. The MDX has a refined and powerful 300-hp V6. It is more agile and quieter than its predecessor. The third-row seat folds easily into the floor and is a better fit for kids than adults. The dashboard is a sea of tiny, similar-looking buttons. Crash-test results are impressive.

Strength:

Comfort, good power, feature packed, good size (not too big or small).

Weakness:

Like other SUVs the mileage disappoints but is tolerable. Would like a back lid popper (or we haven't found it yet)

The best vehicle we have owned. Just completed a 2,000 mile trip through the mountains and it was flawless. Extremely comfortable, quiet and great handling. Plenty of room for lots of stuff. Love the in-dash CD changer. Really love the Nav system. It eliminates any need to think about where you're going. This means more touring happiness! We drove this car in preference to my other car, a BMW 540i because of the comfort and Nav system. I have not run the car off-road (and probably won't) nor in snow or ice conditions (hey, I'm from Florida), so I don't know performance in that area. We love the car.

Resale value, luxury..

See my summary. See this web site to investigate: http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/

Research this vehicle before you buy. There are some major clunks / thuds you'll hear from the brakes and sloshing of the gas tank like you've never heard before in a vehicle. Acura calls these things "features" and "normal". For the money I call it getting ripped off. You won't start noticing them until you ve put a few 1000 miles on your MDX. Acura is ignoring customers complaints and there is no fix on the horizen for either of the above mentioned "features". Just know this going in and expect it to drive you crazy after a while. That and you'll wonder how you can got ripped off paying so much for such inferior quality...

Strength:

Acceleration, handling, smoothe transmission, interior layout, exterior styling and standard equipment. Good Mpg.

Weakness:

Small capacity fuel tank, Would prefer real wood on interior.

I bought the MDX after looking at the Volvo X90,Nissan Pathfinder and BMW X5. I was not impressed with the Volvo. I liked the exterior looks, but really nothing special about the interior and just about everything is optional, plus it didn't accelerate fast enough for me. The same for the Nissan. The X5 had great handling and power, but I find the styling ugly and certainly not enough room inside for that kind of money. The MDx is an exceptional value, just a great, great vehicle. I got the premium model which gives me a host of standard features, a comparable equipped Volvo would cost me close to 50,000. The ride is exceptionally smoothe and quiet. The brakes are powerful and the 260 hp is certain to make you feel secure when merging onto the highway. The transmission is the smoothest and quietest I have ever experienced. The car practically drives itself. The seats are comfortable and I love the third row that comes standard. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. It's just the best suv out there in that price range.

Model Reviewed: Acura MDX

Strength:

Powerful acceleration and car-like handling. Attractive exterior posture.

Weakness:

Paint/body integrity. Substandard interior quality for the price. Rattles, squeaks and road noise. Audio system could be much improved.

I appreciate the overall vehicle quality for the most part but agree with many of the reviewers -- the vehicle makes undetectable noises/rattles/hums with less than 15k (mostly highway) miles. Door locks rattle and a tin-can vibration eminating from the lower console dash area on acceleration is discouraging given Honda's reputation and, more importantly, the cost of this SUV. Hopefully Acura is taking these reviews to heart and this good vehicle will become a great one.

Strength:

Resale value is in top ten. Mileage is pretty good. Roomy interior. 7 seats is awesome! Although it does remind you of a car grinning, I like the exterior style.

Weakness:

Steering gets a little too sensitive at high speeds. The controls on the panel are a little hard to reach.

I was looking for a family vehicle that was neither station wagon nor minivan; hence, the SUV. Although I almost never use it for off-roading adventures, I do need something capable of traversing these Philly streets. The ride is smooth, the safety is 5 stars. What sold me was the Acura reliability and the "bang for the buck".
