Acura MDX SUV | Crossover

Acura MDX SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Acura MDX is Acura’s midsize luxury crossover SUV with seating for seven occupants. The MDX has a refined and powerful 300-hp V6. It is more agile and quieter than its predecessor. The third-row seat folds easily into the floor and is a better fit for kids than adults. The dashboard is a sea of tiny, similar-looking buttons. Crash-test results are impressive.

Strength:

Smooth ride, roomy for SUV. Lots of standard equipment. Great SUV.

Weakness:

Brakes started to make clunky noise after initial 3,000 miles. Some cheaper cosmetics (interior). Assembled is not the best. Also a winding noise from the engine upon excelaration.

Overall, the MDX is a very good SUV. It's price is a little to high. But dealers get away with it. Only faults so far are the brakes (makes noise after first initial 3,000 miles). Told this is normal. The assembly of the SUV is not as strong as it should be for an Acura/Honda. Also, the engine makes a winding noise....Not real loud...but enough to be noticed. But then again, every vehicle will have the little noise that bothers someone.

Weakness:

When I bought my MDX there was no noise coming from the brakes. Now that it has a few miles you are trying to tell me that some brake click is normal. Then why was it not making these sound when I test drove this type of vehicle, or when I took delivery of my MDX!!!!!! It started when the vehicle had about 1,700 miles which proves that your design needs to review and resolve this issue.

Strength:

Reasonable gas mileage. Handles pretty well, although some sway on cornering. Pretty good acceleration. Very comfortable for all passengers(four or five)

Weakness:

Under performing transmission, it was replaced at 20K - warranty. Terrible breaks... clunky and downright dangerous downhill in snow. ABS basically locks up! Very poor service overall, but Sunnyside the exception to this... they are good. I took the vehicle to the other dealer in NH, and they were very unprofessional and rude. The weaknesses, unfortunately, counterbalance an otherwise excellent SUV. My assessment is that this is too heavy a vehicle for its systems, i.e. drivetrain and handling systems.

Best SUV I've ever owned. Drives more like a car than a truck. Nicely appointed inside and out. Very comfortable on long drives. Electronic four wheel drive excellent; will climb anything.

Strength:

Quality is great. Power is adequate. Comes well loaded.

Weakness:

Looks and drives like a minivan (just a tad better looking than a minivan). Lacks prestige. Boring to look at and drive. Cheap looking interior materials.

Good value for an SUV, but not for a disguised Honda Odyssey. Third row seat is a joke even for kids.

Strength:

Superb NAV system and entertainment package. Airbags all around (2007 ready) - with automatic shutoff for underweight passengers. Snappy engine. Cruises nice on the freeway

Weakness:

None so far

Excellent SUV - (replaced a Suburban) much quieter, smoother ride, tight steering - very responsive. Interior is very nice, gas mileage much better.

Strength:

Great value and reputation for quality

Weakness:

Doesn't have the same curb appeal as Volvo, BMW, or especially MB

I looked at the BMW X5 (harsh ride), the Volvo XC90 (underpowered and overpriced), the Mercedes ML (dated styling), and the Lexus RX330 (too feminine in its' styling and a limited dealership network), and the Acura came out on top. It possesses one of the best list of standard features amongst the vehicles out there.

Comfortable, great seats, visability, power when needed, feels well made, stability, handles well

I wish I could see the clock with the key off and a power hatch would be nice.

I LOVE MY CAR....Had my last one 12+years, looked for a year before I decided to buy the MDX. I get better mileage (18 in town 23 on HWY)than I did with my 1992 Mazda MPV-V6

Absolutely wonderful vehicle. Compared to the Mercedes ML350. Great NAV system, creature comforts, ride, roominess, quality. It's got it all at a reasonable price.

This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned I have looked at several comparable products like the Lexus rx330 and the bmw x- five which both are fine products but when it comes to value and what you get for the money accept no substitute.

Strength:

It's roomy, it's stylish. Everyone likes it and wants one.

Weakness:

The service behind it. Acura has to workout the bugs in the MDX and find better dealerships.

Basically, I love the MDX. It handles like a car and is very roomy. I'm satisfied with the better than average features and the layout of the dash. But, I've very disappointed with the gas mileage and the fact that the MDX is very sluggish on the highway. Also (for those of you that may not know yet) there is a problem with the front struts (suspension). They are very noisy (clunky) and require replacement. The mechanic at the garage looked into the problem and found that the parts were on back order. It appears it's a manufacturer's prolem that the consumer has to pay for. Also my dealer and the service they offer sucks. They are expensive and not professional. I had to take the MDX to a neighbourhood garage to get the brakes fixed and they told me about the strut problem, not Schaller Acura! Oh and the indash 6 CD changer is giving me problems.

Driven a few SUVs with the exception of the BMW X5 and the Mercedes and found the MDX surpasses others in looks and handling and features.
