Model Reviewed: Pontiac Firebird 3800 Series II

Strength:

-Ample power for a V6 engine
-Great automatic transmission
-Good looks
-Always a fun car to drive
-Nice value

Weakness:

-Not enough room for tall people (I'm 6' 3")
-Some quality issues with body panel fit and finish
-Visibility
-Large, ungainly doors
-The hatchback (My struts are leaking)

You have to be a certain kind of person to like these cars. You'll have to put up with rattles, wind noise, poor visibility, and higher insurance. However, if your a fan of the Firebird, you put up with these minor things to own this American icon.

My two years with this car have been real fun. No other car that I have ever owned has given me greater pleasure. The V6, while not a pavement ripper, is a great machine. The 4-speed auto transmission is also fantastic, and matched perfectly to the V6 and the 3.42 rear gear.

I recommend this car to all the people out there who are looking for a fun car. If you can afford the price tag of the V8, go for it, but if you cannot swing the V8, the 3800 Series II V6 is a great alternative.

Strength:

For a V6 it has great pick up and go
Sleek body
Back seat folds down for more room

Weakness:

Doors are too long, makes it hard to get in and out
Hard to fit husband in car (he's 6'1")

I have had this car for 18 months and still just love it. Great handling and it moves. For the basic model, I don't think you could get any better and at a great price. There is room inside for traveling, I was fit in there a computer with printer, vaccum cleaner, 4 drawer dresser, 2 bags of laundy and a suitcase. Now fit all of that inside an extened cab pickup.

Model Reviewed: Trans AM

Strength:

Fast and powerful, world class GT interior.

Weakness:

Gas mileage could be better even for a V8. But it is okay, I will gladly pay teh gas price for the fun I am having. More gauges could be better.

For cheap raw horsepower I highly reccomend it. I am alredy planning on adding a 01 Z28SS to my fleet (hint: F bodies may be on the way out). Power being said, it is not as refined as a Porsche. I will be adding a ram air cold air intake kit and later a supercharger. Kids will look longignly at you, Fathers will look at you with envy as they are stuck in there four door car and Mothers will shoo there kids away from the street when you approach. I would buy this car again in a heartbeat.

Strength:

I got the car wrecked and fixed it. The 5.7 runs very strong to be stock and the ws6 handles well. Girl's love it and it's comfortable to sit in (the front anyway)

Weakness:

No wet weather car thats for sure! It has a lot of rattle's No leg room in the rear. The car will not shift into overdrive at speeds above 90 and it could use a place to set you,re pepsi.

I recommend it to anyone who want's a strong AMERICAN sports car without going broke getting one. I would'nt recommend it to anyone who want's a quiet comfortable ride!!!

Model Reviewed: Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Strength:

I love everything about my T/A,especially the big 350 V-8 its awesome. I love the real wheel drive and positive traction.

Weakness:

The gas mileage. I get about 15-18 mpg. But thats average for the 350 V-8.

I would highly recommend anybody especially teenagers to purchase a trans am. They are awesome and girls dig the low, deep, exhaust sounds. I plan to install in the future, edelbrock intake manifolds, and increase the horsepower. I just bought a set of Daytona street legal slicks. I love them, but they are a pretty penny $150-$175 each. But they are well worth the investment. If there is anybody out there with some accessories or parts for sale for my 1987 t/a please e mail me.

Model Reviewed: Multi Port 2.8 v6

Strength:

Awesome car, very sharp, 4 speed automatic, very powerful for a v6, smooth and sporty ride. Original rims. sound effects are mean. Low riding. Never any engine problems, cheap on gas.

Weakness:

Tires for it costs $600. Things break in cold weather, very light in the back end. Worn out tires. Needs new piece for pop up light to work on left light.

I recommend this car to any sport car lover that enjoys the sharp look of the Pontiac Firebirds.

Model Reviewed: /pontiac firebird 3.8

Strength:

a definate head turner, has ground effects and dual exhaust, so everyone thinks it's a v8 anyways. sounds great, looks great, handles great, love the car. it's artic white, with t/a wheels, and 245 16r50's all around. runs like a dream, 3.8 is great on gas too

Weakness:

the price of new slicks sucks (about 145$ for one.) needed new water pump, 2 rotors, and a new belt because the retard that owned it last put it on upside down

not many people have one, especially a v6 with a T/A performance package. beautiful paint, looks mean at night with nothing but but the parking lights onautomatic is smooth as butter, kick ass car!!! anyone that wants to have fun when they drive should own one of these

Model Reviewed: pontiac T/A Recaro

Strength:

In my T/A I like the way the cross-fire gives me lots of low end torque. For all of the Recaro T/A's out their I only know of mine out their and I must say it can spin the treads and still get 15 miles to the gallon.

Weakness:

My power antenna went out the first week I got it and the car doesnt seem to have much power after 4000rpms. Rather than that I get the girls with it and it looks spectacular.

For anyone who has ever dreamed of getting one of these beasts of their time kind of cars,I suggest you do it because their worth every penny.I would recommend this car to teenagers mostly because the guys got to get their egos up. Trust me the girls love the deep exhaust sound and guys always think you got a huge motor. The T/A is a legend get one fast so you know what its like to drive an american legend!
the price I paid for me Trans Am was 3500$ which my T/A blue booked for 6k so im quite happy with my machine.

To a 84 camaro I know of it runs smoother and is more torquey than the camaro. Also the 83 T/A is rarer than the popular camaros.

Model Reviewed: Firebird Trans Am

Strength:

This car was from Missouri, some guy flipped it over in a ditch and totalled it. I bought it, took quite a few parts from a 95 trans and pieced this car back to life. It runs great. Haven't had a problem yet. Loads of power!

Weakness:

Being a salvaged car it rattles alot, but all in all there are no considerable weaknesses

I would highly recomend this car or one of its newer models.

Model Reviewed: Trans Am WS6

Strength:

Fast, fast, fast! As someone else pointed out, there is nothing NOT to like about this car. With the WS6 Ram Air package, you get a car that will smoke 85% of the cars on the road. For less than $2,000 you can make these cars as fast as a Vette.

Weakness:

GM Service Depts. Warranty work on GM cars is usually like pulling teeth. These cars have a documented problem with front brake rotors warping and often leaks around the T-tops.

These cars are absolutely beautiful. The WS6 package comes with a functional Ram Air hood & intake, 17" polished aluminum wheels, 275/40-17 Eagle F1 tires, SLP free-flowing exhaust, plus a beefed up suspension. These cars are rated at 325HP, but that number is purposely understated by GM to seperate the Firebird/Camaro from the Vette. Actual HP is closer to 345!!! The Camaro/Firebird use almost the exact same LS1 engine as the Vette. Gas mileage is decent - 18cty/26hwy - for a modern V8 that will do 0-60 in 5.2 seconds.
Anyone who buys this car has to know ahead of time to expect rattles and creaks, especially after the car is broken in. This is not a Lexus folks! Eventhough it's got a back seat, anyone over 4'8" will feel cramped. This is not a family car, or at least not for my family. :) I also mentioned the problem with the rotors and leaks with T-tops, and for those problems (plus generally bad GM service), I gave the car 4 stars out of 5.
