Strength:

Sluggish start, but when you get past 3,000 RPM you should feel the DOHC pull you ahead. You'll wish you had the turbo model to feel it even more, but the NA is worth it, you'll love the handling, the late rpm pull since it makes you so anxious as well. Considering the price of a used one these days, it's well worth it. It turns heads, and you get a compliment daily if you keep it nice and shiny. Sound system makes people think you have a 12" sub in the back.

Weakness:

Too heavy, sluggish at starts, Blind spots are bad, fugly stock rims, and the attention gets annoying..=)

My mother bought it brand new in 1995 for 25k or so. It was handed down to me recently with 18k miles. I guess you can say she doesn't drive much. It's one heck of a car, and I can take turns with ease. The stiff suspension might not feel great on your everyday pavement, but once you get on a track you'll love it. The NA pulls you towards the end of the shift. If you remove the Resonator bottle (Mainly there to quiet your car) then you should have a slight rumble as you accelerate. I love it. Too bad I'm going to miss it soon...=( Anyone lookin for an NA GT?? FaRTaLOTTT@aol.com (contact me!)

The car will set you back in your seat to say the least. I am 17 and my father bought me the car for my 16th birthday and I absolutely fell in love with it. I have yet to be overmatched on the road in it. I have raced mustang gt's camero's firebirds firehawks you name it and I have dusted their windshield. The car has great power and i wouldnt give it up for 10 mustangs.

Weakness:

The only trouble that I have had is i like to go a little bit too fast in the car. The red color seems to attract cops, especially when you are going 165 mph in a 55 mph zone.

As far as i know my father paid $35,000 for the car but it only had 9,000 miles on it when we got it so it was pretty much new, it even had the new car smell.
Yes i would recommend this car to anyone who wants to get away from the competition. If you are a middle of the pack person stay with you little mustang gt cause you wont catch the 3000 GT.

Strength:

Looks, power, stability, comfortable cruising, high-G cornering capability, AWD, AWS. Tremendous brakes and balance. Killer stereo. Versatile - Once carried a 9 foot ladder in the thing with the doors and windows shut! No-one will want to ride in the joke of a rear seat but it's possible in a pinch. Reliable - with minor exceptions over last 6 years and 45,000 miles. Great traction in snow (Alaska) for 3 winters. Awesome paint (yellow pearl still looks like glass - I haven't seen one better. Very rigid/solid (also heavy) secure feeling car. Very predictable handling can get some people in trouble because they start to drive beyond their limits. Can push into 4 wheel drifts (in the dry) but tendency to (safe) understeer. Will generate difficult-to-correct (because of weight) throttle-lift oversteer in extremes. Impossible to spin the wheels unless you're burning your clutch. Very easy to generate ridiculous amounts of power very cheaply with minor modifications. Women love it - almost as good as a puppy to start conversations.

Weakness:

Heavy heavy heavy but has the power to offset. A world class GT but not a sports car in the lightweight & nimble tradition. A/C controls difficult to see in bright sunlight. Other controls are very intuitive. Failures have been - idle air controller (probably the issue with the guy whose car stalled at idle) and turbo boost controller failure. Numerous batteries (Texas heat). Subtle but annoying driveline vibration 55-65 that no-one can figure out. Expensive repair parts. No room under the hood for easy repairs but exquisite engineering. Warped front brake discs tend to be a problem - consider having new ones thermally cycled (cryogenically). Can be difficult to launch fast without excessive clutch slip - motor will bog if revs are too low - clutch will burn if revs are too high and no wheelspin is possible with decent tyres. Everyone wants to race - sometimes very amusing. Have to be in right gear (lots to choose from) if you want max performance - no big, lazy V-8 generating torque. Difficult to insure unless you stick with current carrier. Chrome wheels starting to corrode, but not bad for 6 years. Depreciation is high - I've never figured this out!

Bought new and fully loaded in 94 for $41K. If you want to really enjoy tossing a car around don't get this - buy a Miata and put a Turbo in it. If you want excellent all-round performance, solid construction, distinction and comfort go with the Mitsu.

Similar Products Used:

Much more comfortable than any car with similar performance. New Vette would be competitive. Other GM's and Fords are rattle-traps by comparison. Supra, RX-7's and Nissan's are excellent cars but lack 4WD, space and technological wizzardry. Other exotics can compare but not in price.

I had to replace the idler module and the power antenna. Thank goodness I purchased the extended warranty. Saved me $800+. Still have 20K left on warranty, and will probably sell when expired. $ Risk is too great.

I love the car! But will part with it in a year or so just to avoid risk. No other problems otherwise. Definetely snaps heads!

MY CAR IS OUTSTANDING I LOVE THE FACT THAT YOU ARE DRIVING A 4 DOOR BUT IF YOU NEED THE POWER JUST TOUCH THE ACELERATOR A LITTLE AND INSTANTLY IT COMES OUT FLYING LIKE A ROCKET. THIS IS THE PERFECT CAR FOR A 27 YEAR OLD.

Weakness:

IT USES GAS A LITTLE MORE THAN MOST CARS BUT IT IS WORTH IT, COUSE ITS A 4 DOOR AND A HEAVY CAR.

ITHE THING IS THAT I LOVE MY 1994 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SSEi SUPER CHARGED
ITS THE BOMB , AND IT HAS EVERY THING FROM THE DEALER , SOUND,SPEED,AND LOOKS.

IF YOU CAN SPEND 10000 DOLLARS ON A CAR I DEFENETLY SUGEST THIS BABY.

This car will rip the road up. It is faster than any car in the valley (well stock ones at least) My car has had one problem after the 20,000 miles i have put on it, the interior is kinda comeing apart, with the sterio i had installed and the 300 + horsepower i take all cars in this valley except for the 1 viper here and i put a close match with it because it is the V8 viper. But this car is well worth all money dropped into it and it looks great.

Weakness:

uuummmmmm gas is gettin up there right now so my 20 miles a gallon on the free way ain't that good.

i paid 9,500 for mine for a friend so i got a pretty good deal. But these cars are worth whatever price they want 4 it. The ride is smooth and quick enough to give u whip lash if ur not careful. Gas mileage is reasonable when u consider its a sports car.

Similar Products Used:

i raced a twin turbo rx-7 about a week ago and dusted it. I was maxed up to 180 when the rx-7 was hittin about 120 so i wailed on it pretty hard. When i took it up the track the only car that beat me in my class was another mitsu 3000 wich had twin turbo but ran NAS and had more stuff on engine.

Strength:

Great Car!!!! The VR-4 should be changed to "Try to catch me"!!! 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds with a quarter mile around 13 seconds!!! With a few mods. you could easily boost around 400 horses (really easy to do)!!! With this car you could beat almost any car in it's class (300ZX-really easy, RX-7-easy, Supra-Good match but the VR-4 wins, and the NSX-really really easy)!!! If your thinking about getting a VETT...don't trust me, the VR-4 is a much better car, with a much better look!!!!! GET IT!!

Weakness:

GAS GAS GAS GAS GAS GAS GAS.....this think drinks gas like water, but onething to realize is the fact all SPORTS CARS do this!!! So, it's really not a problem. Also, I've heard this car brakes down a lot.....mine has not(knock on wood), with just regular checks she purrs like a kitten.

Great Car, trust me it's worth the price! Drive it.....even the base and SL's...and you'll know what I'm talking about. All three models are great and excellent for doing "everyday things"!

Similar Products Used:

300ZX- Can't generate it's 300 horses.
NSX - Good for twisty roads, but not for racing!!
RX-7 - Probably the only car I would get after the VR-4, only problem is the clutch for these cars needs some minor detailing!

Nothing, im not impressed with this vehicle at all. This thing is slooowww! It looks faster than what it really is. Probably cuz of all the power you loose from the auto. Mine is the 222hp non turbo. My dad couldnt afford the turbo model.

Weakness:

No Power. Took it to the track 16.6 in the quarter. WTF? I get beaten by Hondas, Toyotas, and even Silverados!

I paid 12,000 canadian with only 100,000 km on it. Whicj is about the right price range around here. Ive had many problems with my transmission and engine making wierd noises. The 222hp engine doesnt even sound like a sports car. Sounds like a Dodge Dynasty.

Strength:

You American guys are funny. It's taken a while to convince you all but some of you are seeing the light finally.
The greatest strength of this car is, without a doubt, the handling.
The 'point and go' system of controlled power is the reason the rest of the world laughs at cars like the Dodge Viper.
You can have all the speed in the world, but unless it's power you can harness, what's it worth ?
The lessons learned in producing the 3000 have been taken straight onto the world rally circuit in the shape of the Evo series.
It's easy to up your Bhp with practically any car, but it's a pain in the arse trying to get handling that even comes close to the GTO.

Weakness:

Stop bemoaning the fuel economy, no-one ever chooses a sports car based on sound finiancial proposition. If you can't afford to run it, don't even think about it.
My only real gripe with this car is the hopeless turning circle.
Yeah, it corners on rails, but those rails take a longer route than I'd like.

Already been playing with my GTO a little too much.
Lowered by 40 mm ( crazy handling fun ). Makes the car look even better.
Replaced 3.0 plant with 2.5 ltr V6 twin turbo EvoVI engine transplant.
Car is lighter and more responsive.
Then set to work on maxxing out the 2.5 ltr lump.
Re-mapped ECU ( chip )
Sintered uprated clutch.
Ugrade turbo
Uprated cylinder head.
Uprated injectors.
Dump ( blow off ) valve
Turbo timer
4.5 inch custom built exhaust system. (Heat resist stainless). You do NOT want to know how much that cost.
For those that give a s*#t it even does less MPG than it did.
Once you start modifying these things, it's kinda hard to stop.
I've already spent twice as much as it cost to buy the car itself seeing how far it can go.
And one of these days it WILL beat that damned Skyline.
Incidentally, blew out a Ducatti the other day. That was the BEST fun I've had in years.
You can't beat the feeling you get when you take on a superbike from a standing start and a mile and few seconds later you're waving the finger at him in the rear view mirror.
Never buy the Automatic, too slow.
NEVER buy anything other than the TWIN turbo, you're missing out on a LOAD of fun, and all wheel steering.

Last Dyno run rated the car over 560 Bhp
Track tested 0-100 in 8.35 seconds

Beg, borrow, steal, blackmail, get the cash, get the car, get the speeding fines. Smile knowingly to the guy in the Ferrari next to you at the stop light, 'cos he'll only see the back of your head from then on.

Similar Products Used:

Nissan 300ZX : Had one for a few months previous to buying the GTO. Nice, but didn't get the same smug feeling as I got in the GTO.

Nissan Skyline GT-R : Can't really make an objective comparison on this one. The Skyline I played with was pushing out over 800 Bhp ( tuned by an F1 engineer ), so when you do 0-100 in a little over 6 seconds you kinda lose all sense of perspective.

Strength:

I absolutely love my car. Even though it's only packing 220 horses, its a rocket. If you can drive a manual, you should have no problem getting a good fast boost from her. She hugs the road like nothing else. As far as people saying they brake down, I have 55,000 miles on mine, and she's only had a few minor problems. The bucket seats are extremely comfortable. She makes a nice nois in all gears. The throw on the stick is easy and short, making shifting fun and easy. I love the cokpit like interior. The sound system in mine is awesome

Weakness:

Gas is expensive and she takes the highest grade. Fortunetly its matched with a 19 gallon tank. She does guzzle it though, the way I drive I average about 16 city MPG. The back seats shold have been done away with, and their just for show.

I paid about $12,000 for mine, and it was worth avery penny, and then some. I wouldn't trade her in for the world. Unfortunetly they didn't sell to hot, and their value depreciates. Personally I think that the Stealth/3000gt is far above the other cars in their class (300zx, RX-7, Supra), all of which cost much more.
