Strength:

Handling is superb especially in corners. Mechanically this now 10 year old car runs like a charm. Only major repairs in 10 years has been the on-board computer was replaced at 80,000 mi and replaced the exhaust system because a chrome exhaust tip bracket corroded.

Weakness:

The Morrocan Red paint job has proven to be susceptible to chips so I had to have the front end of the car was re-painted at 85,000 mi.

It's a 4 seater, but anyone who buys it for carrying more than 1 passenger shouldn't be buying this car. It has very precise handling which I love. The car goes immediately in the direction its pointed towards. That means you shouldn't be chatting on the cell phone while eating fast food and driving on the expressway or you will be in the next lane or worse before you know it.

Speed Racer... Very Fast. You can fix these up, so that it can go super duper fast. Handling is great. Interior is nice.

Weakness:

Eats up a little too much gas.

It is such a great car. I recommend you add modifications to it, like i did, so that you can be getting total power out of it. Its a great car to roll in.

Comfortable, reliable, sporty, and sexy!!!! Bought the car from an insurance pool (salvaged) with 700 miles on it and fixed the damage. The fix was fairly easy and the car hasn't had any problems since. This car really moves even without the twin turbo.

Weakness:

I got the model that doesn't have a sunroof. What was I thinking?

The car has been my favorite of any so far. I would only trade it for a black on tan 1999 VR-4.

Don't buy this car if you can't afford premium gas.

Strength:

Awsome car, reliable. I have heard the rumors about expensive parts, and I have no clue what they are talking about. The parts are comparable to that of a Honda or any other Japanese car, but not as expensive as people say(not euro pricing). Has never broken down, has 130,000 and still runs like new. Just keep up on regular maintinence. Only semi-seriour problem I have had has been the idle control, which was a cheap fix.

Weakness:

Too heavy, lags down acceleration. Spent money on performace parts to corret problem.

Great Car

Model Reviewed: 3000 gt vr-4 & 92 Stealth RT

Strength:

The vr-4 is in a class of its own. I have also owned a stealth rt. The turbos are worth the extra cost by far. Easy to up grade hp, super fast, has lots of cargo space with back seats down. Best all around car.Great looks.

Weakness:

Same problems in both my 3000 gt and my stealth. Antena (easy fix), cracked air vents on front dash, engine tick, Leather seats cracked, Leather steering wheel a little worn. Sport and tour mode light blinking. Vibration on acceleration. Have been fixing all these problems and in my opinon this car is well worth it. They have not been bothering me since.

Highly recommend it! Price is great for a used one. You get the same problems in these cars that can be fixed and enhanced. Over all one fast machine, fun to drive every day! Recommend this sight to check out: www.3si.org/vbb/index.php

Also this car has a more exotic look compared to the others in its class. My next car that I am buying is the Acura NSX, drove one loved it am buying it but still keeping my VR4 toy!

Strength:

Pleasing to the eye,Very fast very powerful (inspite of it's weight) Instant acceleration. Fairly comfortable for touring 6hrs+. Wonderful for those curvey mountain roads. Handels very well in the snow and rain. Simply a pleasure to drive.

Weakness:

some minor interior noises. lets a little to much road noise in. My biggest complaint is with the mechanical problems I have had. there has been an issue with engine surging at idle. It got so bad for a while the car would not accelerate once it started to surge, leaving me stranded more than once. In addition to a related problem that occured when I made sharp right turns the car would stall. Turned out to be the idle controll. for both problems Has run fine since replacement of idle controll.

Paid $30,000 used have had much more fun and enjoyment than fustration at various problems I've had. I highly recommend this car to any one that can afford the up keep and maintainence.

Great styling, awesome power,a real pleasure to drive. The brakes are fantastic, strong stable 6 speed gearbox,it just glues it self to the road.I have run absolutely everything that has pulled next to me.

Weakness:

The only weakness it has is its weight (Over 1750kg)

I paid $31000 back in 1996.It has a 3.0 litre twin turbocharged V6 with 340hp.I would recommend it to any one who wants style, great handling, power, and the need for speed.

Model Reviewed: base 300GT

Strength:

I bought the car new 6 years ago and currently have 156,000 miles on it. Other than the routine replacement of the timing belt (three times), this car has never been in the shop for major work. Styling, comfort, and handling are its major strengths, keeping in context that this car was designed as a grand touring vehicle and not in the genre of a V-8 muscle car. It will never beat a Corvette or the V-8 Camaros/Firebirds off the line. However it has no problem keeping up and/or outrunning these cars on a narrow twisting back road, especially in bad weather. Handles exceptionally well on snow and ice and in heavy rain. The car has great styling. It still turns heads on the highway and attracts people at car shows. Its quickness is only revealed once higher rpms are attained. Downshifting is very smooth compared to other cars i have driven. As i am 6`2" in height, the exceptional leg room for the driver and single passenger is a major advantage. Finally, i have never received anything less than great service from the various Mitsubishi dealerships that I have dealt with.

Weakness:

The major weakness involves the fit and trim. The outside black panels behind the doors peeled away after a couple years. In addition, all the leather (steering wheel, shifter knob and boot) cracked and wore away. The interior door lining had developed air bubbles about one year ago but has since been repaired (myself). The car has been in the shop for trim repairs that include a broken rear-wiper switch (twice), the leather components mentioned above, and the lever that adjusts the back of the driver's side non-power seat.

In terms of performance, the car is quite heavy and sluggish in acceleration from the stop. The front brake discs are now just starting to warp slightly and will need turning in the future. The creaking of the suspension (urethane?) can get annoying.

Paid 25 K new. Too bad they do not make this care any more. I would recommend a used one for individuals who want a top of the line grand touring vehicle. If you are looking solely for a car with blazing speed off the line, then this vehicle is not for you. I have every intention on keeping this every day driver for its combination of speed, handling, reliability, and comfort.

Similar Products Used:

I have driven numerous times but never owned:
1986 corvette => great car but tricky handling in bad weather. cockpit a bit more cramped.
1994 RX-7 => quicker acceleration but very cramped in terms of leg and head room
1969 lotus elan => wonderful car to drive but hard to start (typical british)
My 3000-GT compares (in feel) most closely with the lotus elan in terms of handling, leg-room (its true), and acceleration.
