Strength:

Speed. This things is quick, especially once the turbos spool, hehe. Handling. AWD & AWS are an excellent combo, especially with the wide tires. Looks. One word, sexy.

Weakness:

Expensive to maintain. A few small factory defects that are fixed in the later models, nothing major.

Wel, first thing is first, you guys's discription is wrong, this car is available with a SOHC with 161HP, DOHC with 220HP, and DOHC Turbo with 322HP. Anyways, this car handles like a dream. You have to try *hard* to break loose the tires. It loves to grip, sucks up the twisties with its low, wide stance, and AWD/AWS. As far as power goes, it has good torque and great power. The torque peaks right before the turbo's spool fully, so you get a smooth delivery into the crazy acceleration above 2500rpm. With only a few small mods this car will eat vettes, another nice plus. As far as looks go, it is quite an eye catcher. Mine is bright red, and heads always turn when I'm rolling down the street. Kids wave, women smile, hehe. The only big drawback is the money it takes to repair it, but that is expected with any sports car of this class anyways. This car is for the true sports car enthusiast, not the weak of heart. Ricers need not apply, racers only.

Strength:

Beautiful, powerful, excellent handling. It's seriously an awesome car even now. From 1991, but still able to beat some of the new 1997-1999 cars...

Weakness:

A little tooo heavy. Expensive as hell to modify. The arc of turn is a lil too wide.

My only regret after I bought this was a Honda NSX Type-R. Now THAT'S one mean machine. But the GTO is pretty damn impressive as well. The AWD helps the car all the way thru the drive, which I've never brought to its top speed yet. Probably the only Mitsubishi I like other than the Eclipse Spyder. The much-liked Supra isn't even close to the aggresive looks of the GTO, and that's the same for performance. But the Skyline gives one helluva fight, and usually emerges victorious. Even the R-33 is some good $#iT, haven't seen the R-34 yet. Wouldn't dare to go near it anyway.

This car definetly turns heads. From the school parking lot, to the Long Beach Grand Prix, people notice this car.

Weakness:

Sluggish... afraid to race the new age hondas and RX-7's

This car is bad aZZ,,, for a seventeen yr. old, this car will definetly have people scratching there heads as you burn out of hte parking lot. the only thing is is that this car definetly needs more power... at 220 HP, it begs for more... i'm thinking about *reincarnating* this beast into a twin turbo maniac... until then... i only get looks from people who just don't understand

Strength:

Pretty damn quick after 3000rpm, great looks, great smiles from girls, very reliable when taken care of, good handling, great and large amounts of options.

Weakness:

The leather seats are cracking, but that happens to all cars after a while.

I am completly happy with this car. I plan on buying a 99 in the future, but this one is still great. Ive never seen a better looking car (under 100,000) or ever rode in a car thats so "in tune" with the drivers wants and needs.

great acceleration, great looks.

Weakness:

I've driven a Honda Prelude, Toyoya Corolla, Mazda Miata, and even a Mazda RX-7 and now own a 1994 3000gt vr4... and honestly... i'm so sick of these front wheel drive and all wheel drive cars. Sure they have better grip and transfer more "raw power" to the road but it is nowhere near as fun to drive as rear-wheel. I owned a 1989 Iroc-Z Camaro and it was about 2 seconds slower than this car. But the fun-factor in driving this car, and the spinning of the rear tires makes the Camaro much more of a blast to drive. This 3000gt has great pick up and acceleration, but the AWD makes for a stiff ride and rough handling as swirving at high acceleration becomes a problem.

People talk of the slowly diminishing RWD cars and ever-growing popularity of AWD/FWD? The brand spanking new Mazda RX-8 is RWD, as is the 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse, 2002 Toyota Celica, and 2001 Lamborghini Diablo. Even Europeans are getting smart enough to realize that RWD is sportier and just all out more fun to drive. When Chevrolet tested a non-production AWD version of their Corvette against a traditional RWD version, the AWD version beat it by only .012 seconds! In the traction control test, they both came out exactly the same! RWD is making a comeback! Recent technology is making these RWD cars a new force to be reckoned with. Americans have always known it and Europeans are now catching on.
Too late for this 3000gt though... don't waste money on it..

incredible acceleration to top speed
great traction

powerslides are fun

Weakness:

VERY HEAVY
expensive to modify
no burnouts :(
...d*mn thats bout it

i bought the car the day before my sixteenth bday from a rich doctor who had bought the car new. it was VERY well taken car of and cleanly kept. it took me a good month to really figure out how to launch and handle all that power but now its easy to shoot off great launches consistently. i raced a mustang gt and it wasn't even competition and then i raced a highly modified 3rd gen trans am and it was left by at least 5 car lengths. i don't advise too many powerslides to start with cause they're hell on the clutch. all i got to say is that its a d*mned fine car thats ungodly fast and pampers the occupants with all kinds of luzuries and its tough to beat that kinda combination. i wouldn't let my 16 year old son drive it but hey i'm glad my dad didn't mind me gettin it

Strength:

good looks...

Weakness:

I know there's alot of kids here thinking this "sports" car is really the greatest thing since sliced bread. First of all, I have read literally dozens of professional reviews such as Motor Trend magazine and talked to a few people who owned a Dodge Viper and have never once, not once, heard about anyone "laughing" at the Dodge Viper. The rest of the world literally fears the Dodge Viper and to say "that's why the rest of the world laughs at the Dodge Viper" is a desperate attempt to raise this car up on a high platform that it doesn't deserve. I have had the opportunity of being able to drive a 1999 Dodge Viper RT/10 and own (unfortunately) a 1998 Mitsubishi 3000gt VR4. Let me tell all of you.... I'll admit, the 3000gt has a smooth shifter and a comfortable "feel" all around, but compared to the Viper I drove, this 3000gt is a slow, rough, and nasty looking slug. I've owned it for about a year now and have already had to buy a brand new engine. The radiator hose constantly keeps melting even after purchasing new ones, the paint is already peeling away both in the exterior and interior. All of the inside materials are cheaply made as they are ripping and breaking apart (the seats are already ripping apart). Unless you had a role as a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz you definetly wouldn't want to sit in the backseats. I can't stress enough the painstaking effort that must be put in to these downright worthless and carelessly made (not to mention ugly looking) pop up lights.

I don't think I've ever been more dissapointed with a vehicle, especially a sports vehicle, in my entire life. If you want a real sports car (not considering the high price) don't listen to those Japanese enthusiasts who take pride in nothing but useless AWD/FWD cars, get a Dodge Viper RT/10. The speed, comfort, quality, and "bad a_s" look to it is literally breathtaking. If you want that extra .01 seconds of AWD grip that import fanatics take pride in.... then.... yeah.... go with the 3000gt...

This car has a BHP of 218 DOHC since its the newer model. I have been able to kick that over 240 easily with small mods like getting an FIPK ect. Very nice interior.. best looking car under 75 grand... handles very well!

Weakness:

No room in the back.. well its a midsize sports car.. no one said it was for a family of 4.

I believe that this car will become much harder to find over the next two years... Never had any problem with it and it actually has decent gas milage. Its a good car to tool around in for the summer months. If your into racing... with small mods.. the SL can whoop a Mustang GT without any problems. Its a mid engine sports car.. its not meant to do hard core racing with. When you hit second gear.. you will be thrown back in your seat!

Strength:

Dependable. Fast. Nimble. Able to seat four (short trips only). Good paint job. Great styling.

Weakness:

Able to seat 2 comfortably. Small cargo space. Heavy.

We bought this car in 1992, and the car has been performing flawlessly ever since. It has been extremely reliable, and a pleasure to drive. The only problem I've had so far is that the sport and touring suspension light keeps flashing on and off. But besides that no problems. I am very happy with the paint and finish because a 92 Civic, which we bought at the same time, the paint is much worse. The interior space is small, but if you put the rear seat down, you actually have more room than you'd think. Overall a great car, and I am planning to put >200K on it.
