mustang gt premium interior/sound
Strength:
Excellent power. Great engine sound. Good handling on smooth surfaces. Good limited slip (so far). Good finish, great color. Good brakes (although I would have liked 13" Brembo package as an option). Wonderful sound system (6 CD in dash). Chassis stiffness seems fine w/o any aftermarket stuff.
Weakness:
Transmission/shifter are just plain bad. The T-5 won't shift easily for the first 15 minutes in warm weather/let alone cold! In a car nearing the end of the line, design flaws are inexcuseable. Seats interfere with door arm rests and squeak. Seat belts hang up on seat guides. Engine holds RPM when you back off the accelerator. Sway bar bushings squeak when you brake hard. Water pools on bumper under trunk lid so you have to open trunk when you wash/dry the car. Some components look really cheap. Fender liners are vacuum pressed and include wrinkles! Liners and splash guards around engine compartment flap in the breeze. Gas tank guard rattles. They did a wonderful powertrain and solid (if cheap) suspension and forgot to finish the design of the rest of the car. Back seat isn't usable. Interior compared to Saab is small, and on the cheap side. Water on the roof pours in the windows if you open them. Low roof line makes getting in and out a challenge for me (6'). My head rubs headliner when seat is upright. The '88 LX convert. has much more interior room and headroom! (strange). For all the negative, I'd buy the car again. It represents the best performance value for $$. This car (bright yellow)glows in the dark! It handles well, although harsh over broken pavement. It is always fun to drive, and with Magnaflow exhaust, the sound alone is exciting. Performance compared to my '87 GT (stock)and '88 LX convert. with 351 is much better than expected. Rear end ratio is unreasonably low, making in-town driving annoying. A 3.55 would be perfect. General finish of the car is good. I'd rate this a 4.5 of 5 on the fun factor scale. First drive on stock tires in a small autocross finished ahead of most of the Covettes. Good highway driver, getting 28 mpg on trips. Best performance value for the $$ with perhaps the exception of the Neon SRT. Some additional design refinement would have been nice and wouldn't have cost Ford anything but time. STANG GT PREMIUM COUPE
Strength:
Power from all speeds superior handling "fartcan" spanker Ladies just flop theirselves in your passenger seat. rock solid gearbox
Weakness:
backseat too small during certain times. front seats won't lay back far enough. nothing mechanically weak about this powerhouse. I grew up watching the street races and listening for "THAT MUSTANG SOUND". I absolutely loved that rumble of a stang, but knew I would never get one. Guess I was wrong, I have had this stang for about 6 months and what can I say, I love it. There are no weaknesses, and its the most affordable V8 American Muscle car ever. Insurance sucks, but I knew that from the start. I hear people say its weak off the line! For those, I say go learn to drive a stick correctly, and if you don't have a stick, theres your problem. 0-60 in 5.5 stock is smoking, especially since the engine doing those stats is a 281ci 16v. There is no weakness to those numbers. Back to the review, I have had no problems with anything serious, only those defects that come along with the purchase of any new car. Isn't it wierd that camaro stopped production the first year mustang cobra could spank it??? Hmm. So, not sure what those middle class chevy lovers are going to gossip about now because only the vette still stands, and its outta reach in price by a long shot. I do have to say to those "SI" "type R" and all those other wacked out letter lovers that if you see a 1999 GT and up, might as well hand over the title, or go trade in your import fartcan muffler car for some american muscle. Thanks for reading, now go and buy a Gt and get busy helping the rest of us clear the gossip. Similar Products Used: 2003 mits eclipse gt-s Spyder-- I have to say that this car is a piece of crap. The clutch in non-forgiving and very difficult to launch smoothly. It handles horrible, always seems to drag the inside |

Strength:
Great handling-can hold ONE G in a corner turn!!
Weakness:
the Insurance sucks I love mustangs like no other. I got the saleen when i was 16 and it has speed like you wouldn't believe. All the chics like it and I just love the styling bar that comes stock with it. The exhast makes your hair all over your body stand up! Who needs Viagra, get a saleen! Although the cobras keep up with my car, the saleen is sssoooo much better looking. I raced a Porsche once and i smoked it like there was no tommorow. best value for the money
Weakness:
mine doesn't have any power options My '97 4.6L Mustang has over 142,000 and it's still going stong. Other than regular maintenance I have made no repairs at all to the car. The car runs just as good today as it did when I bought it 6 years ago. It does not have any rattles, leaks, squeaks or any of the other defects that usually come along with a car with this many miles. Yes, it is slower than a Z28 or a TransAm, but it handles better, and doesn't feel as clunky either. If all you want is speed, please stick with the GM cars. If you want a total package for you money, the mustang can't be beat. There is a reason they don't make camaro's and firebirds anymore. Similar Products Used: 92 5.0L Mustang (The drag racing car) |

very fast on the high end great handling aggressive design blows gm awaY
Weakness:
slow off the line hi i am john, htis is my second stang and the first one i totalled when I was 17 because I was showing a camaro lover how mush better it handled. i totally love the new stang the power you feel at 4000-5200 rpms with the 4.6 is unreal. Like I read in another guys review who needs 0-60. I raced my buddy the other day in a z-28 you know the "bad ass lt1", well he did not win even off the line he was two busy destroying a 200 dollar set of tires. he did catch up but when he got off his low end it was all over. That is what I love about the mustang just enough low end torque to tease and then make them believe with 400 ft lbs on the high end. All you stang enthusiasts enjoy and definetly get the shaker Similar Products Used: 2001 ford lightning |

Strength:
Great styling great power for dollar excellent torque all around great driver
Weakness:
would like a bit louder exhaust tone just a bit more seat extension for taller drivers This is my second, had a 95. I got the upgraded interior with this one, well worth the money, got the mach 460 well worth the money if I were going to keep it stock, sound is decent for a factory system but I like a high end high power system so it will either be enhanced or removed and replaced. power is much better than I was expecting and handling is good. I got a great price on this since I just bought end of year. Similar Products Used: 95 mustang 99 ranger |

Strength:
reasonably fast. can beat little rice burners on the street. the inside of the car is great. convertibles are the best.
Weakness:
slowest of the mustangs. it can be brought up to mustang gt, but with all spent, might as well have bought one to fix that one up. I used to be into the import craze til I found out that its pretty much just that, a "craze". American muscle is so much better. I have like the slowest mustang available but it pushes almost 215hp stock. It still needs alot of work but other than that there isn't even half as much to do as a honda or acura. Well worth its price. Similar Products Used: Mitsubishi Mirage, Acura type R, and Chevy Blazer. |

Doesn't start off as fast as my bro's car. But who's keepin track of that. Great car. Can't say anything about how fast it goes. Kinda hard to drive fast when you only have a permit and your parents sittin there watchin everything you do. Other than that it drives wonderfully. Handles nicely. |

Has great Power, Trunk space compared to the TA or SS, interior leaugues ahead of cheap TA or SS, it's a GT
Weakness:
Gas is gone at 150MPH. Hello, my name is AL and I had the pleasure most Americans suffer. To drive a selection of very fast cars in Europe. You know what you buy before you get it. The Mustang GT is a beautiful car, inside and out. Great visibility, unlike the Pontiac or Chevy. The Camaro's interior is like sitting in a cave and BOSE should be ashamed to associate themselves with that. Anyway who cares about 0-60 what pleasure do you get out of 4-5 seconds, your girlfriends most definitely know. I am talking about racing at 120-150MPH for 20 Miles on the Autobahn. I own the Mustang and three other soldiers stationed with me had a SS, Trans AM, and the M5. Of course the M5 was better in all possible aspects of a machine, the Germans are just light years ahead of the US. Understandable with the cost as well. But we with the American cars had some Mods on ours. The Mustang is the best ALL AROUND of the AMERICAN MUSCLE CARS. The 2002 CAMARO SS is wobbly at 150 MPH and does not take bumps well, but gets there fast as hell. The TA is faster than the STANG too but interior is cheap and is wobbly at a 150MPH. My Mustang's handling was smooth and was barely barely 0-150 beaten by the SS and TA. No rice burner compares to a V-8. The M5 was hooked up to with mad upgrades. It smoked all 3 cars, handled better, sitting in it is like riding in a Caddy, stereo much better and better on gas. I would hope so for 90,000. I still had a good time with the STANG. All the European women liked the Mustang better too, because it is Americas car and the interior. And Gentlemen, if you just want a ROCKET with no WINGS get a SS or TA. If you want it all get the GT.
