Strength:
Massive power (335 horsies stock out of the 390 4v)
Weakness:
Cost me $15,000 to restore to NOS specs I have invested nearly $35,000 in my #5 car. That sounds pretty nutty to most people, but I have had offers from people in the know exceeding $45,000. I have told them all to summarily f### themselves (nicely of course). There were only 5 GT 390 Mustang HCS cars ever made, which makes this a particularly difficult model to encounter. I have driven the also-rare 428 version, and it is even more astounding. The car handles like shiznet on suicide curves, but is stable enough up to about 140 mph, when its front fenders start to float a bit. Mine is pretty well built, but even before i went wild with the motor, i wasted new corvettes, camaros, and mustangs. There is simply no comparison to the beauty of Shelby styling. I personally find stock 64-69 mustangs rather drab without side scoops, a rear spoiler, and the blackout grill. But to each his own, ciao. Similar Products Used: 76, 77, 79 Trans Ams. They handle very well, but even the 455 is not as fast as the Mustang 390. |

Strength:
Ride is very smooth, even at 70mph feels like you're just crawling through town at 25mph. Acceleration and top speed both are plenty if you live anywhere in the United States.
Weakness:
gas hog I paid about 15,000 dollars for my '97 w/ only 35,000 miles on it. It's run great so far. I change the oil every 3000 miles and tune it up every year. This costs a little more, but the performance will last me until 2010 this way. I would have liked to get the convertible, but the hardtop gets better gas mileage and has less drag...and the bottom line about a mustang is only one thing....SPEED!!! I would reccommend this car to anyone who doesn't mind paying a little more on gas for a LOT more on power. strong v6
Weakness:
interior room limited to people under 6 foot I think my car is hidious looking after having it for over 5 months. It looks like a "hat" but in a car version. Ford goofed up by making this ugly machine because I think the previous model was much more attractive looking. I think the grand am gt 2000 is much better looking and has more rev power than the v6 mustang. I recommend for those v6 enthusiasts to buy the new grand am gt and experience excitement Similar Products Used: grand am gt 2000 |

Mustang LX 5.0L Convertible
Strength:
Engine runs great, son put new clutch and plate in. 5L is a great motor my has 132000 miles bought at 105000. Runs strong and solid. Having a few electrical problems. Power door lock switch, but all in all a great fun car. Needs new top, this one is the original and it is shot. 5 speed is the only way to go with this car.
Weakness:
The top is hard to take down and put up, if that was easier it would be great. The clear coat on the paint is coming off in spots, and I broke a motor mount. Other then that I haven't had any trouble with the car. I just wanted an inexpensive play convertible and this is it. Paid 5000 and gotten almost 5 years of summer playing out of it. Sporty and fun to drive. Has plenty of power and plenty of after market stuff if I wanted to do anything to it. Similar Products Used: Camaro, nice but not a mustang |

Head gasket blew at 82,000. Engine is piece of she-it! Ford now has a recall for this. They will pay for your repairs ( If you have proof) Or give you a $4,000 voucher on a new ford. I will put the voucher on a lease and then never buy a ford ever again. I will spend the rest of my life keeping othres from buying FORD!!!! Stay away from ford and their dealerships. I have been in hell since the day I walked on their lot. I was screwed buy the dealer and the company. Their cars and trucks should be banned! Similar Products Used: None |

/Ford Mustang GT
Strength:
Acceleration, engine. Although a lot of magazines have complained about the Mach 460 system and the tiny buttons on the tuner, it's still one of the best stock systems I've ever heard.
Weakness:
Body roll, shifter, pedal arrangement - no heel/toe on the track, due to the inset of the accelerator pedal. Plastic, non-functional scoops on the hood and quarter panels. The car has too much body roll. Yes, it's sticks better than the 1995, but it feels like it's going to spin out long before it actually does. As for the shifter, Ford needs to come up with a better solution here. It feels like you're driving an old split axle dump truck. Saleen and others make affordable aftermarket shifters; one of which I'll be buying soon. I was able to get what I consider a decent price - considerably less than the 23,000 the other reviewers are throwing around. I would recommend the car. As far as bang for the buck is concerned, it can't be beat. The car is a definite stop-light bully. Similar Products Used: 1989 Ford Mustang GT, 1995 Ford Mustang GT. The 2000 is a far better car. Unlike the others, this car doesn't have any squeaks or rattles, and the high revving engine is just more fun to play with. The Traction control was an overdue addition. |

Strength:
The looks, the roar of the engine, the inside of the car. Has good get up and acceleration. A nice car to go to the beach and have the girls look at you as you roll on by.
Weakness:
Low horsepower for a 5.0 V8(215 Hp)Gas guzzler, but what do you expect? If you wanna play, you've gotta pay. Tires are expensive as well. The braking is kinda rough and starting in 1st gear makes a wierd noise now. Well, i paid $10,000 for it and i would do it all over again in a heart beat. except maybe i would probably get the convertible though. Living in Southern California, that is a must. Its not too expensive to make the 5.0 put out more HP, and i would take a 5.0 over a 4.6 anyday. Similar Products Used: 1988 Honda Prelude Si 4WS, 1995 Mustang Cobra |

260 Hp and 302 ft-lbs of torque, blew the doors of any car that tried to mess with me when I drove it. Cool interior, good support from the seats, excellent stock stereo ( 460 watts ) rides nice, quiet at freeway, looks great.
Weakness:
If you don't hold a fulltime steady job, I wouldn't buy a Mustang. Gas is about 170 dollars a month with a 92 octane, insurance is expensive and did I mention payments? ( this is my friends car that I drove, he's paying everything ) its great, but expensive. This is Kooper's car, a good friend of mine. Similar Products Used: Way faster than the OHV 5.0, this is a Single Overhead Cam ( congradulations ford finally learned something about building engines ) revs good and more power. Drove a 94 Firebird Trans Am, what a joke. |
