Strength:
looks, sound, and the look of someones face after they get smoked by a V6 stang.
Weakness:
Dealer ship Future ford sucks, downtown ford is way better. Great car alot of power for a v6, sounds great with aftermarket exhaust. Don't buy from future ford they suck. There like the a mafia all they do is try to rip you off. The service there sucks and i had a few engine problems when i bought it. Similar Products Used: none |

Mustang V6
Strength:
Good power for the price. Mach 1000 Sound system rocks for the price. Comfortable for a reasonable priced sports car. All the looks you get while passing people.
Weakness:
Have to keep lubricating the windows so they don't squeak when I roll them up. I love my mustang, I get looks everywhere I go. I got the premimum package with the sound system and the stripe down the sides and it just adds to the fun of the car. I recommend getting a 2002 b/c I rode in a 2001 and it was uncomfortable after about an hour of driving. I can drive for hours in mine without any problems. Similar Products Used: none |

/Mustang 6cyl premium package
Strength:
Lots of extras (standard package, delux package and premium package), great factory sound system. Awesome look (compared to the pointy, sharp-edged camaro)
Weakness:
standard sports car weakness of small trunk and cramped back seat (if you are looking for room, try a continental, not a sports car) almost completely useless in the snow (once again, if you want traction or all wheel drive, buy an explorer, not a sports car) Although i''m biased as a true Mustang lover, i don''t believe you can buy a better sports car for your money. The cost to horse-power comparison between the mustang, camaro and firebird i think shows why. Not only that, but there are just more options for the mustang now too (cobra, rousch, bullit, GT...) so you can get whatever fits your budget insurance wise also. Another factor in purchasing the mustang is its reliability. after owning an ''88 that was in great shape (no thanks to the owner also) i know from experience that they last. I think it is no wonder why the mustang outsells the camaro and firebird together 4 to 1. One thing to remember when looking at any sports cars, they all have the same major weaknesses, don''t buy a sports car with unreal expectations. If you are looking at a mustang, i recommend the Mach 460 sound system, it won''t destroy your hearing like the Mach 1000. I also suggest getting it with a manual transmission, if you don''t know how to drive stick, learn, it is definately worth it when driving a sports car. Ford Mustang GT
Strength:
Low cost for lots of performance. 260 HP, 305 ft/lbs TQ (if I remember correctly) stock. I am pushing an est. 285 HP and 315 TQ, with only Borla cat-back and intake kit (intake is similar to K&N filter.) Sound is BEAUTIFUL, especially w/ Borla, sometimes I turn down my system just to hear it rumble and pop. As for numbers, I ran a 14.2 @ 99MPH 1/4 mi. on a hot, slippery day at Kansas City International Raceway (a notably slow drag strip) with 200 lbs. of sound system and cabinet installed in the trunk. My friend who has a 2000 stock except 3.73 gears ran 13.7 @ 100MPH. Not too shabby Rear wheel Drive! The Celica was the first and hopefully the last FWD car I will own. You just can''t drift and power-slide with FWD. My old Supra was proof of good RWD design, as is the Mustang. Subjectively good looks; classic but not cheesy Sufficient handling for daily hustle. Car manages to slip by police cars at more than legal speeds (must be because it''s Silver :) Because its fun to say "Lets Race!" to a fellow import owner and have them look a little sad. Warning: modified ie. NOS or supercharged/turbocharged import rides NOT included in this joke, you are to be commended in your effort
Weakness:
Poor rear axle control and soft suspension bushings leads to a floating, precarious feeling when drifting or driving hard. This is fixable with aftermarket panhard rods and proper suspension components. Fuel goes fast. A 6 speed would help, I think. Somewhat low quality of fit and finish, wit the little details like body panels being lined up poorly. Luckily, these things can be fixed w/ a little work. Notchy, long throw shifter, and poor clutch pedal engagement position (again fixable with some aftermarket goodies.) 4X4 body lift look when stock (Bullit is better w/ this.) Mild drop springs and camber plates will solve this. Stock sound system not all that. For me, it took just over a month before I ripped out the entire system and installed quality aftermarket MB-Quart speakers, MTX amps, JL Audio subs, and a Kenwood head unit. Incidentally, I have a Mach 460 system for sale :) Leather isn''t very good quality Steering wheel sits crooked to the left in relation to the dashboard (this is a mustang tradition, sadly) probably to fit the steering shaft in the engine compartment in the right spot. Could be done better. Traction Control button annoying to defeat every time you No more trash talk between imports and domestics! I''ve owned only import cars until now, and I have to say that some statements are true and some are not. My girlfriend led me to the switch; she''s owned a ''95, ''98, and now a Yellow ''02. She even has a tattoo of the running pony on her left shoulder. Her car felt powerful for "only" a V6; better than my 2000 Celica GT-S I had at the time. Looked better too. I test drove a GT and a Cobra, but couldn''t afford the latter, and ended up with a barely used 2000 silver GT. Truth is, my Celi handled better, felt safer, and had a better ride at first, until I swapped stock tires for new 245/45-17 BFG KDWS''s. They should come stock instead of Goodyear slippers. The car became drivable and tossable, like I desired. Traction Control? A joke. I push the button after I start the car, like a ritual. Mileage? Um,..Next question please! Power? Yes, lots. Pick a gear and go...quickly. Actually picking a gear is sometimes hard; the T-45 tranny isn''t great. Also, clutch pedal engagement position is way too high. Handling? It has more sheer grip because of the tire''s width and and compound. However, actual control is low, mainly because of poor rear axle motion control, and very soft rubber bushings all over the car. This is what gives the car it''s signiture "floatiness" in the corners. Remember the "new" mustangs still share a rear suspension design with the old ''79 models. Interior? With leather in all the right places, it gives a distraction from all the plastic. Lately, however, all cars have been using more plastic, my Celica was worse. Overall, the interior feels mustang-ish; classic without being outdated. The seats suck, however. The Celica had the best seats ever (Recaro, I think) and I am going to figure out a way to install them in a Mustang. Also, has anyone else noticed the steering wheel is crooked to the left?!?! In summary, the car is strong where it needs to be, and weak where I can modify it. When I''m done, it will have a Maximum Motorsports suspension (gets rid of the axle control issue), H&R 1.5" drop Race springs, Bilstein dampers, 18x10 w/285/35-18''s rear, 18x9 w/265/35-18 front, T-56 6speed (from Cobra-R; bolts on), and an ATI Procharger w/ 10 psi boost, 42# injectors, 255lph fuel pump, and Autometer gauges (they have the whole replacement instrument cluster now) Similar Products Used: 1986 Mazda RX-7 1989 Toyota Supra targa (R.I.P.) 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S 6speed (slow!) |

FORD HAS AN EXCELLENT WARRANTY PROGRAM AND STANDS BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT 100 PERCENT. I AM ADDING A SUPERCHIP AND COLD AIR SYSTEM TO MY CAR SO I WILL EXCEED 200HP. TECHNOLOGY IS PROGRESSING BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS THE THE NEW 3.8 V6 CAN RUN ALONG WITH THE OLDER GT''S WITH A FEW CUSTOM PARTS. I AM PROUD TO BE THE OWNER OF AN IMPORT FIGHTER. / Mustang Premium Convertable
Strength:
Classic styling, everyone who sees it, loves it. Good pick up for a V-6 automatic trans.
Weakness:
Rear seat and head room, not a family car. No trunk space in convertable. Great car. I have owned over 40 cars in 20 years of driving and I intend to keep this one. This is the 6 cyl. model. Test drove V-8 and 6. Did''nt feel V-8 power worth $4000.00 extra. V-6 is a little noisey when you gun it, but hey, it''s a sports car. Ride is good, but it''s not a Lexus, see above, it''s a sports car! I love convertables, have owed 5 in the past. Still have my 1973 MG Midget. Mustang GT conv with Roush Upgrades
Strength:
Price including upgrades $48k (Compared to a viper $72k) With a few upgrades: Vortech supercharger, and intercooler, mac exhaust, and roush structural upgrades this car has 400 HP, and 400 ft/lbs of torque. Its 0-60 is 4.2 seconds (in the viper''s range), and a top speed well above the 2003 viper''s governed limit of 155 mph. This car can peel rubber like anything. #1 advantage? Fewer tickets/Less attention #2 advantage? Gas milage is reasonable outside the powerband #3 The look on the face of a viper driver when you leave them in the dust This car can overcome quite a bit of adversity, I''ve been forced to drive it in the snow. After adjusting to the fishtailing it got me home in over 4 inches of snow. (show me a viper that can do that!)
Weakness:
Traction Control is horrible! (TURN IT OFF!!!) It lowers power at the wheels, and lowers gas milage when you try to compensate for the power loss. Gas consumption, if you go over 3000 rpm''s (when the supercharger kicks in) be prepared to refill the gas tank. Stats: 400 Hp, 400 ft/lbs of torque An overall awesome car, it wont let you down, and with a few upgrades it can compete with any car out there, yes even the viper. Note: The traction control is horrible, turn it off and your horse power seems to double. Take it for a test drive, with the traction control off. Strength:
Good looks. Not as bulky or heavy handling as a Camaro. Engine sounds great with an aftermarket exhaust. Good pickup.
Weakness:
Felt slower than a Z28. Seating position is awful!- You sit way too high. Feels like your sitting on the car and not in it. mpg will be bad of course being a V-8. kinda pricey new. Test drive. Car was OK but Z28 felt faster for sure but Mustang was less bulky. Either way, didn''t feel like this car was worth the $$$. Strength:
scary fast. very powerful easy and affordable to work on. Wont need to take out a 2nd to buy brake roters and pads
Weakness:
Suspension./. will do 155mph but hard to keep on the ground. At that speed, you only have enough tome to say Oh !!! and hello Jesus I am just turning 51 years old this year. I have a 11 year old daughter. I''m a late bloomer. Her best friends'' mother asked me the first day I picked her up at school in my new Very Cool and Clean White/ Tan Cobra with the top down, "And What are you compensating for?" I said, "My childhood". Lost in the 60''s as it was, I could never justify a the cost convertible sports car just for myself. My car! Not the high millage- work transportation- school bus -famaly van. I didn''t pay much attention to the movie" The Fast And The Furious" but the first time I drove A Cobra, was at a dealership. The car had just come in for resale and it Hadn''t been detailed. It was dirty, Black/Black and had been run HARD for the 40K on the speedo. I wanted to see what everybody was talking about. I loved the feel of power. Raw affordable power, Rebuildable and Improvable power. A great car stock as almost 90% of the cobras are stock so "they" say. I have owned BMW 3,5 and 7 series cars new (rented) along with an older Mercedes coupe. Great driving machines all to be sure until you need repairs. Oh MY God!!! Not cars, in my opinion, to own more than 3 or 4 years during the lease (rental) then, thrown away unless you have developed some spiritual attachment that supersedes your sense of value. If you can still get insurance, you can Lease another. I purchased my Cobra cash and W/300+ hp and for $500 to $2000, I can, and have easily bolted on another 75 to 200 hp. Almost Scary fast, Almost. The 2002 Cobras come stock with a stock Supercharged and factory warenteed 400 HP. Thay can easly be bumped to 475 hp What is the Lease company going to think of Joe Ultimate-driver for adding NOS to his spiffy new family sedan as he probably can''t afford performance engin work to be done? It would be cheeper to fly Hans out from Munich ,for a few weeks to do the work than go to the local hop shop He could be forking over that 30K he was "saving" when he decided on a lease. My Tail lights are affordable, replaceable, upgradeable and paid for as I wave Good-By to Joe !!and I can afford the bump to my good driver status for my tickets forthcomeing. Conspicuous spending will always be for the inexperianced car owner as thay need to be seen in that Euro styled cars that I also love. If you want to kick ass on the street, Buy American and stick with something you can realy afford and duplic Similar Products Used: bmw 3 5 and 7 series. Mercedies 330 c all great cars but not to own and repair. Yes, thay need repair often as all hard driven autos do |
