Ford Mustang (2010 and older) Sports

DESCRIPTION

The Mustang has been redesigned for 2010. Fresh new sheet metal wraps around an updated interior, giving the icon a more modern look and feel.

The Mustang is available either as a coupe or convertible. Each is available with a V6 or a V8. The 210-hp 4.0L V6 carries over unchanged. The 4.6L V8 receives an increase in power - producing 315-hp for 2010. A five-speed manual transmission is standard; a five-speed automatic is optional. All Mustangs are equipped with standard electronic stability control and LED sequential tail lamps for enhanced safety.

Strength:

It says "MUSTANG" on the rear bumper so other cars know what just passed them. It's a very attractive car with American heritage. The insurance is very much cheaper than the 281 mustangs and the gas mileage is better as well. Also if you buy the procharger kit for the V6 you get to dust the V8 guys who always dog on the V6 mustang.

Weakness:

2 words. HEAD GASKETS!!! at 93 k my head gaskets were found to have given in. After extensive research I found that the 94-95 mustangs had a defect in the water flow through the engine which caused the water to cavitate in the back of the block, causing heat to build up and eventually blowing the head gaskets. They got a recall. The 96-98 V6's had a remapped water flow, but yield to the same problem. But to my suprise No recall. So if they blow your stuck repairing them your self. Also you get allot of harassment from the v8 guys.

Mustang, the word says it all. It embodies American performance, styling, and innovation. I was lucky enough to receive my mustang (Christine) last December (2002). With the 232 3.8 V6 she isn't as stout as the 281 V8 guy's rides but she pulls her own. The car is great looking, affordable, and leaves the V6 Camaro in the dust. Bumper to bumper the car’s styling looks aggressive and unique; there isn’t any other car that resembles a mustang. The interior is comfortable and well laid out, with all controls well within the reach of the driver. The instrument panel though kind of bland in flat black displays everything the average driver could want, Oil pressure, gas level, coolant temperature, and battery charge, and of course a tach and spedo. The steering wheel is comfortable with the cruise control buttons located conveniently in reach of your thumbs. The seats are extremely comfortable, especially on long drives. Leg and head room are adequate even for tall guys. (I’m 6’2” barefoot and I fit just fine). Rear seat is a joke, while you could fit a car seat there it wouldn’t be to comfortable for adults, or even children. There is plenty of trunk space for just about anything, groceries, subwoofers, or bodies. The engine is extremely stout for a six cylinder. Pushing out 150 hp stock isn’t to bad, and with the mustangs gear set up they pack quite the punch. It sports the 7.5” rear end, sharing it with other fords with 3.55 gears. The passenger side wheel is the only one that turns with engine power and actually pushes the car. If you want the power of a V8 with the insurance of a V6. Procharger offers an 11LB supercharger kit for the v6 that boost the mustang from 150hp to 280 RWHP. That’s considerably more than a stock 281. It cost about 2,000 Bucks.

LOOKS!!!

Weakness:

*Cup Holder *Good Year's Tire (Eagle) that came with the car. (I have already got rid of them though.) *Trunk Space *Seating confort

I fell in love with the looking. I am not a car mania or anything and don't drive too crazy. I used to drive, Nissan Sentra, Toyota Camry, and Ford Escort Station Wagon (all very old). This was a big upgrade for me and it was difficult to handle first time but when I got used to it, it was a fun car to drive. People say it sucks in snow and it really does though I got snow tire from Vredestein(Snowtrac) and now have no problems in snow so far. When I had a problems in snow I had Good Year's Eagle tires. I think THAT was the problem. I thought about trade in to better car in the snow but I decided to keep it because Mustang is too cute to trade in to other cars. With my German snow tires, I am enjoying driving mustang in the snow day.

Strength:

Very nice looking car. Engine is quiet like I like it. Surprisingly confortable. Mach Stereo system is nice sound. Have yet to have any engine problems so far. I keep maintenance up on it.

Weakness:

They should have made the engine at least 205 HP. Not the 193 HP that gave us. The engines stalls sometimes when going up and incline. The V6 should've been made a little stronger in the engine. Also, the shocks and suspension should be a little better. It rides rough sometimes where you can feel every bump or peeble in the road. Ride needs to be smoother.

All around very good car. Aesthetically pleasing inside and out.

Strength:

Good looks thus good chick magnet, awesome feel in the street especially in the highway, reliable if you drive it as a car and not as a 4X4 like me, decent trunk space for a sports car, well placed instrumentation, well equipped for base price, super breaks.

Weakness:

Gas guzzler (you better have a good job to maintain the tank full)

I bought my car in October 2000 and I never experienced any problems with it until November 21, 2002 after more than 44,000 miles. The transmission went bad. But I must emphasize that I have driven the car very fast and very hard under severe conditions since day 1. Despite that, I love my car. It’s comfortable (if you’re sitting in the front), It has all the gizmo’s and gadgets I need without paying extra, and of course: good looks and good power for a V6 engine. As a matter of fact, it’s faster than many other sports cars including V8-based cars without modifying my engine! This car can stop on a dime! If I ever had to say anything bad about this vehicle it would be that it consumes a lot of gas for a V6 and because of the rode conditions in Puerto Rico, there’s a bolt or something that came loose. I can hear a noise from the suspension or engine compartment that tells me something needs tightening but the dealer couldn’t find the cause.

V8 POWER and torque Orgasmic sounding exhaust...at least to me relatively light good handling (w/subframe connectors) looks great comfy seats aftermarket parts galore-bolt on power

Weakness:

gas mileage (it's a V8 after all) harsh ride-doesn't bother me no cupholders no tilt wheel-b/c of the airbag stock shifter sucks-but there's affordable aftermarket ones

Bought a '92 in 2002 with 20k original miles. 1 owner who just kept it stored. It needed a tune-up and new brakes when I got it but other than that it was almost like new inside and out. These cars aren't for everyone but if you like rumbling V8 performance, they're hard to beat. Much more nimble than a bulky Z28....especially the 87-93 models. I've added 255/17" rims, 3.55 gears, custom H-pipe/cat-back, and subframe connectors to mine. www.howielux.com/stangpage.htm

Weakness:

Handling

I have had the car for about 4 years now. I consider it a part of my family. There is no other feeling then hearing the exhuast note of a Ford V8. I have had my share of probelms mainly with the electrical system. But over all it is great. It's fast and loud and boy can you piss off a cop quick. I would recommend that everyone own a mustang V6 or V8 sometime in there life. Its handling is something to be desired. Espacially in the rain or snow.
