Strength:

Styling, handling, brakes, sound system, build quality and more looks than a Ferarri.

Weakness:

The 180 hp base engine is a little underpowered. Nothing tht can't be fixed by a chip, filter, and exhaust.

Jealous stares from guys in hondas, mustangs, BMWs, and Hyundais.

Get it now if you are in the market or get left behind literally.

Similar Products Used:

Similar to Porsche Boxster anf Z 2.8 in engine and performance comparisons.

Similar to non in styling or panache. Onle a restored Porsche 356 Convertible would command more stares.

Strength:

Definitely a POWERFUL car. After a 14 yr outstanding driving record, I got my first speeding ticket in less than a week. My Aunt died in Burbank and I had to go to the funeral. I was driving on highway 5 with the top down and not noticing that I was going 110 until I saw the cop on the other side of the freeway. I was clocked at 93. The cop says to me "Did you know you were driving fast?" I said "I know I was going fast, but I didn't think I was going that fast....

Weakness:

If you are over 6' tall I think it would be difficult to get in and out of the driver's seat. I have a few guy friends that are over 6' and that is one complaint.

I am a 29 yrs old QA Engineer who works in Silicon Valley with all the dying dot.coms. I enjoy driving my roadster and all the attention I get with it. I have the Silver with black interior. I got all the packages but the phone. The phone sucks. I wanted the baseball stitch but they didn't have it available at the time and I didn't want to wait. I would pay 50k for a car like that. I know I will receive a lot of hate mail for this but sorry GUYS, I think that the TT is a girl car. Most of the guys that I've seen in a TT are grey haired men. That is why I bought one now because I don't want to wait til I am old to enjoy a car so fun.

Strength:

Without a doubt, looks, feel, quality. There is something Bauhaus about the body, or even Bugatti-esque about the wheels, which sets it apart from everything else on the road. Definately harks back to the silver arrows era. When you think of Audi, you think Quattro, so why anyone would buy the fwd car I have no idea - it isn't even marketed here.

With 180bhp, I think it is plenty powerful. Considering it is some 500cc less than the old Coupe Quattro of rallying fame, and not much less bhp, it's a technical marvel, and in a country where car tax is dictated by engine size, there is no competition. 5 valves per cylinder, only 14 years behind the motorycle, but who's counting !!

Reasonable fuel economy, good paint finish - and no, mine isn't silver, mean my denim blue one stands out. Good roadholding, but understeers a bit, but that's just me, ask me in 6 months and I might have the technique nailed down a bit. TT forte? 2nd/3rd acceleration down country roads with prodigous grip.

Actually will suit those with small children (as a second car).
Has anyone info on a child seat for the rear, that works?

Weakness:

The tilting mechanism for access to the rear seats is very antiquated. Other cars tilt & slide forward, and then resume the original position. Now, it this car had a tiptronic gearbox, a la Boxster, it'd be perfect !!

Fabulous car, unique styling, fabulous interior. No qualms recommending it to anyone.

Similar Products Used:

Boxster 3.2S has a poorer interior, a badly designed hood ( I mean, folding the rear window !! -even a Miata doesn't do that), and takes almost twice the engine size for the same low down fun. No Contest, the TT wins here.

Looks, Interior, Handling and a complete Classic. Great Engine!

Weakness:

Small Engine. Great and Small? Yes... Don't think you're going to be able to be corvettes but you'll have a very thrilling ride and if you choose to modify then the sky is the limit.

I love this car. She's a great friend.

Strength:

Looks fantastic. Drives fantastic. Interior has fantastic little details, pedals, buttons, lights,... all are in the same style and have the same excellent quality. Very different from the cheap plastic buttons you find in many American and Japanese cars.
Great Bose soundsystem. Very good (Xenon) lights. Beatiful leather interior.

Weakness:

Does not like to drive slow. Speeding tickets.

I love my TT. I find myself looking for excuses to drive around. It is excellent as a second car if you have a family with kids. I use it to drive to the office. My wife has a Durango, similar Horsepower (235 HP) but very different package. Ideal combination, a SUV and a TT. Do not buy a TT as a family car, unless you are single or a couple without kids.
If I didn't have two little kids I might have opted for the TT Roadster, equally beatiful.

Similar Products Used:

Compared to the Honda S2000, TT has more style, TT does not need 8000 rpm to get some torque. Compared to Porsche Boxter. I like the Porsche but the TT has a much better value proposition. A Boxster with the same level of amenities would add a lot of extra Dollars to the final price. Compared to a BMW 3xxCI. BMW is good, but TT is a lot more fun.
Siebring, Camaro, Cougar,... Nice try, but not comparable.

Strength:

Looks, midrange acceleration is excellent and the handling is unbelievable.

Weakness:

Some turbo lag but not as bad as the 180hp version

I love this car. I have never driven a car that begs to be driven hard. The cornering is remarkable due to the quattro drive. I get lots of looks and being a convertible make this car that much rarer. With the top down the TT is one of the best looking roadsters on the market. And the performace matches the great looks. The standard equipment on the TT makes it a much better value than the other roadsters. Many other cars don't even offer as an option many of the standard things found on the TT. BMW drivers eat your hearts out - you should have bought the TT!

Awesome styling, interior is best, period.
Handling, and power are amazing! Very practical, lots of cargo space.

Weakness:

Heavy for a sports car, stock shocks are inferior.

This has been by far the best car I have ever owned. Style, performance, and QUATTRO! Every time I get in I feel like it's gonna be a special time, and it is. Driving in the rain with quattro is just unbelievable, had lots of fun. Have taken the TT on a couple of long drives, and it's the perfect GT car, fast, comfortable, and rock solid. Oh, and I should mention that TT owners are some of the best people, and usually they're car enthusiasts.
There are faster cars, better handling cars, better braking... but for the money, the TT is by faaaarrrrr, the best!

Porsche Boxster, nice handling but not even close as far as overall performance.

Strength:

Styling, inside and out; mid-engine power; comfort

Weakness:

Low-end power and turbo lag

This is a wonderful car. I was looking for a unique and sporty car, but in addition I required a car with a modicum of practicality since it was to be my only vehicle. I wanted a car that was fun to drive and could carry a couple of golf bags or my hockey gear.

The TT delivers. The current Porsches couldn't do it. None of the roadsters could do it, either. Many of the sedans and coupes were practical enough, but were either lacking in performance or personality, or both.

My car is a green 225hp coupe with all options but the phone. I am very pleased with its outward appearance, and judging by the looks it gets when I am behind the wheel, so do a lot of other people. The interior is wonderful. The seats are comfortable (once adjusted), the dash looks great, the smell of leather is rich and luxurious, and the pedals (including the enormous dead pedal) are in their ideal places.

Mechanically, the mid-range power is terrific. At any engine speed above about 2000 rpm the car is very responsive. Unfortunately, any speed short of this is underwhelming and at the threshold is a rather pronounced turbo lag. So, whatever speed you'll sacrifice at a green light you'll recover with interest on the highway or on any backroad.

Also, the handling is terrific. Low center of gravity and a short wheelbase make for very nimble turns; and quattro and grippy tires add confidence. My driving skills are no match for this car's capabilities.

Inside, the shifter, though a bit notchy, is precise and the steering is, too. Driving pleasure is very high.

As for comfort, the climate system works very well and is simple to use. Same for the navigation system (although I have noticed that the CD-Rom is sometimes outdated). The search options for the nav. system are intuitive, clever and comprehensive: search by address if you have it handy; if not, search by category such as restaurant, hotel, sports facility, gas station etc. The schematic video screen fits in with look of the rest of the interior and, coupled with the voice prompt (which automatically reduces the volume of the audio system), provides as much information as I'll ever need and gives nothing away to the scale video screen diagrams I've seen on other systems. The audio system provides wonderful sound, even in the low frequency range, and even in the car's small cabin the sound is spacious and clear. Still, I can't seem to get the speed sensitive volume control to function (any tips would be appreciated), and the track selection buttons are too far away from the steering wheel for my liking (controls on the steering wheel would be warmly received).

Build quality throughout is exemplary. Attention to detail is unsurpassed by any other car I've seen.

In sum, if you're looking for a sporty car that can serve as your daily driver, give the coupe a test drive. It really is a wonderful car.

Strength:

great handling, unbelievable looks inside & out

Weakness:

had a few small problems with the car initially particulary the gauge cluster

Have you noticed that almost every new car that comes out now imitates the TT's design in some way? That's because it's such a great car. I was one of the first people in the state to buy one and people used to stare at me constantly in gas stations. My only regret is that I didn't wait to get the 225 hp version, but I'm glad mine came out before they started putting those stupid spoilers on.
