Strength:

Comfortable ride.

Weakness:

Transmission, wipers, electrical. Had to have the control panel for the air conditioning/rear wiper replaced before I took it off the lot. Soon after, at 35M miles had to have the transmission replaced at my cost since the 3 year period had past. Regional service director was a true $#"!!, would not buge on a 50/50 split of the repair, in fact he threatened to withdraw that offer completely! Also seems now that I have a thud in the transmission at 49M miles when a accelerate from a stop. Great.. Not to mention the costly replacement of the wiper motor to address the ghostly operation of the wipers on their own. I will never buy another product from this manufacturer again, they know they have a problem, yet act untouchable to get it resolved.

Lousy excuse for a reliable van, better off with the train.

Strength:

It's roomy, the heat and AC work fairly well, and it has pretty good pick-up for a 4 cyl. Gas mileage isn't too bad for a van. Once they replaced the stereo, the new one has worked very well.

Weakness:

Well, besides the head, the water pump, the door lock, the wipers, and the driver's side sunvisor that I've had to replace more than once because the way it is designed, moving it quickly is darn near impossible. The only think I can think of is that the air filter is really hard to get to. Also I thought Gary Mathews' service department was a pain to deal with.

It began the day we bought the van - the tape player ate the first tape we put in. Since then, we've had it five years and the only reason I didn't run it off into a lake was because I owed so dang much money on it. Well, it's paid off now and it won't die - it just slowly bleeds my wallet dry. My problems have been like those of most others I've seen on here, the head had to be rebuilt at 74K miles (after warranty ran out), water pump had to be replaced at 29K (warranty covered that), one of the sliding door locks jammed and had to be replaced after warranty, and I can't remember how many sets of brakes I've put on it. The wipers sometimes work when the engine is cut off (this is a really scary thing, I think it's what ran down my battery). It has been a money drain since the beginning.

Strength:

2nd sliding door ('96 was 1st to offer this) Comfortable seating for 4 adults and 3 small children. Seats easier to remove for hauling stuff than previous model. Middle & rear seats interchangeable. We leave the 3 seat bench and pull the 2 seat bench out for long trips. Also like the leg room afforded by the 2nd position for the middle seat, but then no one can ride in the 3rd seat except kids under about 5 yrs.

Weakness:

REPAIRS!!!! Rear seat leg room suited for kids (small ones) only. Cargo space behind rear seat very limited.

What a mistake buying this van. In '96 it was the only van available with the 2nd sliding door, which was a big plus, but I had no idea how much this thing would end up costing to maintain. REPAIRS have been a major problem, mostly out of waranty. 1st year (luckily in waranty) we had wiper problems. They came on for no reason and other times would not shut off. It took 4 tries to fix. Turned out that replacing the wiper motor fixed the problem. I guess this is a problem others have experienced, but I was treated, a few times, like I was crazy. Serpentine belt failed (under waranty) but took 2 days to get car back. Transmission rebuilt @ 54,000 miles. Gears & bearings appeared to simply have worn out. Belt squeaks and a/c compressor screeches crop up every summer. What a loud racket. At 80k relay for fan quit. Its placement under the battery seems to be a known contributor to failure. Also, fuel pump failure at 85k. Fitting failed causing pressure side gas leak under the vehicle. I guess that the expensive, cumbersome fuel filter may have saved me a fire because my mechanic noticed the problem when replacing the filter. Valve cover gaskets also replaced at 85k. Seeping badly. All in all, I'd never go near another Chrysler.

roomy, comfortable, and car like handling

Weakness:

transmission and engine. their is no type of acceleration on an incline

This is the worse vehicle I have ever owned. I have been back to the dealership every other month since 6 months after purchasing. I have had to have the steering column replaced, the engine light stayed on , the air bag light, and now the transmission is acting up. I would not recommend this vehicle to the taliban or any other people I happen to dislike.

Strength:

Very comfortable, like the 2 sliding doors, and the lack of repairs. Great for loonngggg trips!!

Weakness:

Fuel smell, belt slips on AC occassionally which is embarrassing at times - usually I just laugh about it.

Overall we've been quite satisfied with our van. Bought it at 35K miles over 5 years ago, now it has over 130K. The only big problems I've had is the tranmission had to be replaced at 80K miles, but luckily we had an extended warranty and didn't have to worry about costs. Just replaced the original battery at 120K miles. Had to replace one belt about a year ago. No big cost. It does have a nasty fuel smell at times, it's worse in the winter with the heater on. Have tried to have it fixed, but the dealer's service department never found the problem. Now that it's starting to get some age on it, weird things happen occassionally - wipers like to come on for no apparent reason, and the drivers side window dosen't always work. Overall, I plan to keep it until it won't go another mile. With the way it's running, I expect to get at least 200,000+ miles out of it. However, I am adament about having it regularly serviced and maintained.

Strength:

Stong engine, good mileage, handles like a car, 2 side doors, few repairs.

Weakness:

Little leg room for rear passenger seat, not much room to store things in rear, oil & fuel filter hard to get to, squeeky belts.

This has been a good vehicle for us. Had about 70k on it when we bought, now has about 110K. No problems until recently-thermostat went out and also some fuel filter or pump trouble. Still, little money output beyond purchase. We have driven it on long family trips as well as daily to work. We enjoy the vehicle and would probably be interested in another in the future.

Roomy 7 passanger seating. For a v-6 has very good pick up and rides smoothly.

Weakness:

all the repairs. Vehicles are bought to prevent putting out thousands of dollars in repairs.

I have had so many problems with this mini van. All of which are not covered by the warranty. From brakes every 10,000 miles, to a timing belt, pully etc. that went with the timing belt that I was told I had to have. I was also told that that was normal maintence. Water pump went out, of course all was again not covered. Even with an extended warranty for 5 years or 75,000 miles.Air conditioning unit had to be replaced. Built in child seat belts had to be cut as they would not release and chocked the grand kids. Then there was the time that the van would not start. All that was required was 1 plug wire. But, I was told all the plug wires and the distributor wire needed replaced due to rodent damage. I asked for the old parts. This is the first time the parts were actually given to me. One plug wire was damaged. The most recent was the first year I had to have an emission test done and the check engine light was on. I was told that there was a pinhold in the line that went to the gas tank. Unfortunately the whole gas tank had to be replaced and gee again not covered by warranty. This cost me over $1100.00. Am not at all happy with Chrysler/Plymouth and will not likely purchase another one. Transmission will not hold on a hill and sometimes does not shift, but gee the warranty is over and I am not about to put $2000 into a new transmission. There is $3,000 left on the mini van and can not wait until it is paid off.

Weakness:

That they even made this van and took advantage of families who need reliable transportation.

The Grand Voyager that we bought for our family has been a nightmare!!! The problems and repair bills(it would years to list) have made me very scary to buy a new automobile, any automobile at all. But of course, I need to get rid of the van. Of course, I will never buy another Chrysler Product, ever. Friends who bought similiar vans and within that year time frame have all had numerous problems. We are looking to trade it in and I pray for the family who might buy it off a car lot. I couldn't sell it to anyone knowing what I know about the car. Previous car was a Jeep Cherokee, traded it in on van and the prospective buyer called to asked about the Jeep which had 80,000 miles at that time. Only one problem with that car in four years. She bought the Jeep on my recomendation. I saw her an my old Jeep recently...she reported that-my old- 9 year old car running great!!! Boy was I sick!!! Any suggestions on new cars...we've looked and looked...Ford Exploer, Honda CRV, Chevy Trailblazer...want reliable, safe auto this time????

The brakes have been replaced at 32500 miles. No other problems with the car yet. Air conditioning works great. The this car is a big improvement over the pre '96 models. The V6 gives the van a little extra push. And it is a very comfortable ride overall. The 3rd row backseat is somewhat comfortable, but on road trips it is usually just my family of 4 and no one is cramped for space with 2nd row Captains chairs. Chrysler improved the car's handling. For those who have a family and enjoy driving, the car's low center of gravity allows some amenable maneuverability. It gets from 0-60 in about 11 seconds. The fuel economy is average. 20mpg on the street 28 on the highway. Overall a good buy.

Every thing but the body and style. Electrical, motor, brakes etc. Chrsler needs to hire someone with some motot and electrical know.

OH MY GOD! I have just sat here and read my story time and time again. I bought the van 8 months ago with 48,000 miles on it was so excited. The last 3 months it has been in the shop. I have even had it back to the dealership to look at. There exact words " beats all we ever saw". I have spent right at $2,000.00 in repairs. Lets see, map sensor fuel pump leak detector module distributor water pump body module and on and on. The van still does not run right. After driven when you kill it and then get back in it within the next 45 minutes its like it is vapor locking. You have no go. It cuts and sputters. I was almost hit by an 18 wheeler pulling out on the hiway. Now the gas gauge, temp. gauge, and speeed odometer will not come on and the ABS light stays on. My windshield wipers are possesed too. I guess I'm gonna start from go with a devisat of about $7,000.00. I would not recommend this van to anyone. My mechanic tried to talk me out of buying it. I can see it in hios eyes "Told ya so Tolda ya so Told ya so". I would not own another Chrysler product if they gave it to me with an allowance (cause Im sure it would not be enough to cover the expenses)
