LOOKS ARE ALL THAT CAN SEE IN OUR VAN AT THE PRESENT MOMENT AND THE VERSATILITY.
Weakness:
ALL OF THE MECHANICAL IN GENERAL. AT PURCHASE TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO FIX OUR VISORS, SPEAKERS WERE ALL BLOWN OUT AND STILL ARE AFTER THREE REPLACEMENT. TRANSMISSION PRBLEMS. FRONT END SEEM S TO HAVE SOMETHING WRONG WE ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING TO REPLACE PARTS UNDER THE FRONT END OUR EPERIENCE IS EXTREMELY BAD. AT 14,000 MILES WE HAD OUR TRANSMISSION WORKED ON OUR SERPENTINE BELTS WERE SCHREDDING ABOUT EVERY 2,000 MILES WE HAVE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, EXTREME NOISE, SHIMMERING OVER 55 MILES PER HOUR BREAKS REPLACED 5 TIMES BEFORE 14,000 MILES AND STILL HAVING BAD PROBLEMS WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE AND NOT TO MENTION ALL THAT I HAVE NOT MENTIONED, WITH NO HELP FROM CHRYSLER. THEY DO NOT STAND UP TO THEIR PRODUCT. WHAT WAS SAID TO US AT PURCHASE TIME IS NOT WHAT WE HAVE EXPERIENCED. SO FAR ANY OF THE PROBLEMS WE HAVE HAD FIXED WE HAD TO HAVE FIXED AT A NON CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. Similar Products Used: THE LOOKS ON THE VOYAGER ARE GREAT BUT WE HAVE OWNED A CHEVY VENTURE AND A FORD WINDSTAR AND THEY ARE AWESOME VEHICLES AND THE COMPANIES MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THEIR CUSTOMERS.I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT I CANNOT SAY THE SAME ABOUT CHRYSLER. |

Quit reliable for an american car. the engine is a mitsubishi engine, so i think that has a little to do with reliabilty.
Weakness:
my dad brought it used in 1996. in the this time we had 4 recalls. oil leak fixed water pump broken down and that's it... it has close to 162000miles on it now and i do change the oil on time. the transmission has been good but it's been not that smooth recently...... i would recoomend paying the extra bucks to get a japanese minivan for reliability and value since i'm only lucky with this voyager. Strength:
Good cargo space, comfortable on long trips, attactive for a van, good gas mileage (22)
Weakness:
I have owned "Yup Yup" for 6 years and have been very happy. I also feel I've been lucky after reading the many complaints. The air has been unreliable for the last 2 years and required some work. It is not working now. The paint chipped off the hood and the roof is now rusting. The tranny is hard to shift at times and I fear I will get stuck. I am having a problem where the wipers won't turn off unless I remove the #5 fuse but my switch is on the dash and the part isn't even listed in the dealers computer. The brakes in front don't last more than a year any more so I am actively hunting for another van. I think it will be a Chevy Astro. I just feel lucky that the problems people have listed on this site are only showing up now that my van is 10 years old. Be careful buying one- you may not be so lucky. I also had the brakes give out 3 years ago going down hill in the GA mountains and the dealer never could find anything wrong. The Chevy Astro has less complaints than the GMC Safari though they're supposedly the same car so I'll go with the Astro. Yes, I'd buy another Voyager Similar Products Used: Looked at the Pontiac Montana. Read the review on it and forget it. Forget the Dodge Caravan. Loved my Toyota Tercel wagon but sold it |

Good engine
Weakness:
None observed (praying) I have the 1995 Voyage 3.0 L 4-speed. Roughly 85000 on it with no problems. New brake pads, new rotors due to pitting, new shocks & struts...all normal stuff for the mileage. Getting ready to do a new exhaust. I have heard about the tranny problems & cross my fingers & knock wood. The vehicle is used daily and has been on 4 trips from Maryland to the Outer Banks of NC. This particular engine in 95 is made by Mitsubishi I believe and runs well. Similar Products Used: none |

TRANSMISSION - BRAKES - TIRES. Brakes replaced every 9 months. Transmission leaks and $600 to replace $35 part. Tires replaced after 20K. Dealer acknowledges poor Transmission problem but not willing to help. Complete failure just after warranty expired. Engine seems good but everything around seems poor. Similar Products Used: None |

Weakness:
1)brake calipers/rotors etc fail every 30K miles. Dealer says bad pads, but they still have 20-30% life left. Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge minivans DO NOT have consistent quality or dependability. the "buy american" concept fails when the american product is so shoddy. Brake jobs cost about $1000 (one Thousand) due to caliper/ rotor/ ??? failures every 30,000 miles with the pads still rated at 20-30% life remaining. dealer SERVICE is none existant. Constant problem with wipers coming on and off at random intervals. Similar Products Used: older caravans, just as bad. so far(83K miles) this one has not needed a new tranny |

Lots of room. Love the built in car seats for my 2 toddlers. Nice smooth ride on the highway.
Weakness:
Just had the power steering pump replaced ($500) at 50,000 miles. A month earlier, had the battery replaced ($100). Have put a lot of money into a van that I still have 2 more years left to lease. Not real thrilled with it and hope to trade it in before the lease it up. I was so excited when I first got this van. With 2 little ones and build in car seats it was a dream. Now, I can't wait to get rid of it! I'm kicking myself for not buying the extended warranty. Overall, I would not recommend this particular van to anyone. I'd recommend a lot more research than I did to anyone who is thinking about buying or leasing a minivan. Similar Products Used: None |

Looks nice. Easy with the kids. A comfortable drive.
Weakness:
Had it for 10 days before the transmisson went at 70,000 miles. Really loved it for the whole 10 days that I had it before the transmission went. Would be having a fit if the dealer wasn't making it right, which they are. Love the look of the van and the ease of use, but the mechanical probs scare me.Would have purchased another make and model if I was aware of the transmission problems. Similar Products Used: None |

GOOD GAS MILAGE. 7 PASSANGER SEATING. 2 REAR SLIDING DOORS. HANDLES NICE.
Weakness:
WIPERS TURNED ON ONE DAY AND NEVER SHUT OFF. PULLED OUT EVERY FUSE AND STILL COULD NOT GET THEM TO TURN OFF. REPLACED THE SWITCH AND THEY STILL DON'T WORK. SO NOW WHEN IT RAINS, I HAVE TO CONNECT THE WIRES UNDER THE HOOD TO TURN THEM ON AND OFF. INTERIOR LIGHTS DON'T ALWAYS WORK. HAD TO HAVE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE REPLACED AFTER ONLY 2 MONTHS AND STILL THE NEW BREAK GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. TRANSMISSION MAKE A STRANGE NOISE WHEN I BACK UP AND THE CAR IS STILL COLD. OVERALL, MOST PROBLEMS ARE MINOR WITH THE EXCEPTION OF BACKING UP. MAY BUY ANOTHER VAN, BUT WOULD DEFINATLY BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. Similar Products Used: THIS IS MY FIRST VAN. I HAVE ALWAYS DRIVEN CARS. |
