Strength:

The space is great and it drives beautifully.

Weakness:

the serpentine belt will end up costing us millions at this rate the vehicle only has 55,000 miles on it and I've only put 4,000 on it and am replacing the belt for the second time. Also the power steering pump has already gone bad.

We have in 8 months time replaced the serpentine belt twice. We are now replacing the power stearing pump including the casing as that is shot. No problems with wipers going on and off as of yet but from what I see here it shouldn't be long. My Father in Law bought one shortly after I did and we've had to replace an O-2 sensor for him and he had miscellaneous other problems, no tranny yet though. Also, mine doesn't seem to have the ABS brakes that everyone else's seems to.

Strength:

Great use of space, decent styling, good turning radius/handling.

That's about it..... see weaknesses

Weakness:

Everything else. This car has been a total basketcase. A 'lemon' without meeting the legal threshold for such. Repair sheet a mile long. Drinking oil like OPEC is giving it away. 2nd xmission, 2nd set of brakes, etc., etc. I will never buy another D-C product ... ever. Steer clear and go for the Honda/Toyota/etc.

Plymouth (nee Daimler-Chrysler) has taken a great piece of physical engineering and screwed it up so bad it is almost humorous. Quality, durability, service has all been a miserable failure. They lead in concept but fail on execution.

Read the details and see others with similar experiences. I'm going with some other car from here on out.

Strength:

Sliding doors on both sides, nice with smaller children to get in and out of car seats

Weakness:

TRANSMISSION!!!! We have only had this van about 6 months, and are already having to replace the transmission. Have no idea if it has already been done or not. Differential bolt broke, causing damage to transfer case and pan with transmission. Looking at $2000 for new transmission through Chrysler company. Chrysler was contacted. Told me they know nothing about a problem with the transmissions in Voyagers, however, mechanics telling me that it is a common problem and that it is a design defect and that Chrysler should have recall on these transmissions. Even after we replace this transmission, it can happen again (and have heard that it is an ongoing problem for people) because of the design in the way the differential bolt in installed. Cannot get Chrysler to stand behind it at all. If you buy a Voyager get an extended warranty and make sure that warranty includes transmission replacements. You could be looking at many during the life of owning your Voyager.

One star rating. Would not buy another Chrysler product. In researching this situation I am finding out the Chrysler makes many of their parts out of plastic to save cost, therefore, we the consumer then have to continually replace specific parts over and over. I would not buy a Chrysler product again!!!!

Great riding vehical

Weakness:

Extended warranty fraud by Fada-gard or Ryan warranty in canada, transmission problems(blamed on the clients). No responsibility taken by Chysler or Ryan or Fada-gard

My opinion is their should be a class action suit filed against Ryan Waranty or Fada gard including Chrysler concerning the sale of extended warranty on these vehicals.Ever time you claim it takes around 20 days for a response to a 24 hour repair.Thats not counting the verbal disagreements you have to battle with these insurance companies that sale this extended warranty.Presently my truck is in the dealers after 21 days of warranty work and 3 days later the transmission let go.Now they blame and accuse me of miss use of the transmission, claiming I drove 20 km per hour in reverse and slamed it in drive.A cop out, excuse on the part of the warranty provider.Clients always get it jammed in their wallets

Strength:

Adequate engine.
Comfortable seats (front buckets, middle captain options).
Quiet, controlled ride on all typical pavements.
Plenty of room to haul stuff, even in this short bed model.
Good body quality (no rust, paint is intact, no loose exterior parts.

Weakness:

Differential (planetary set pin loosened) took tranny out at 48k miles and cost $2k to replace - dealer wanted $3.2k! For the light duty (do not even have a hitch on ours) we have given this van, the failure is one more confirmation of an unreliable/marginal design for the tranny.
Irregular wiper activation when turning steering wheel.

Except for the tranny failure, the van has met all of our expectations as a family transporter.

On the other hand, the short lived tranny should be a concern for any present or future Voyager owner. If you still want one, an extended warranty would be smart, but nothing is going to protect you from a tranny failure in the middle of your vacation; thus, buyer beware!

Strength:

87 Plymouth Voyager. My dad gave me this van when i got my license because he got a differnt car. It has decent power for a little 2.6 4 cylinder engine. It gets 20 mpg which is pretty good for only a 3 speed auto.

Weakness:

It has quite a few... The frontend turns to crap after 150K miles the balljoints had to be replaced, the CV joints needed to be replaced, the engine was rebuilt at about 150K and if you overheat it you can crack cylinder head very easy (which happend to me)but it was because a hose split and by the time i got it off the road it was to late.

Overall it has been good for me for the 4,000 miles i ahve put on it so far.Its at 184,000 right now which is good for this type of vehicle. I plan to keep this Van for at least another year if it keeps going good.

Strength:

Plenty of room, drives well, priced reasonable

Weakness:

wipers are possessed! fan belt stablizer need replace $150 transmission - hole was worn in the trans. housing caused by pin breaking off $2500!!

Transmission began to leak, took it to dealer, they showed us a hole in the case and told us a pin wore a hole in the housing. Van has not been driven hard as they indicated, this is a chrysler defect, I called them and they will not even discuss this problem case closed. We will never buy another chrysler product. If you buy any chryslers get as many warranties as you can!! If this is such a problem for many people why cant any thing be done about it?
