Nissan Quest (2009 and older) Minivans | Wagons

Nissan Quest (2009 and older) Minivans | Wagons

DESCRIPTION

The 2009 Nissan Quest continues as the most distinctive and original minivan on the market – as well as one of the roomiest minivans in its segment. Following a major redesign just two years ago, changes for 2009 are minimal. The 2009 Quest is offered in four well-equipped models – 3.5, 3.5S, 3.5SL and 3.5SE.

The Nissan Quest powertrain comes from its standard 235-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, 5-speed automatic transmission and responsive suspension design. A Traction Control System (TCS) is also standard, while Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) is standard on the 3.5 SE model.

Road car handling is not an afterthought with the Quest. The Nissan Quest features a 4-wheel independent suspension with a rear multi-link design and front and rear stabilizer bars. Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is also standard, along with 4-wheel vented disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD).

Standard Quest safety features include Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors, front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags for outboard occupant head protection for all three rows, front seat Active Head Restraints and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Strength:

The Quest is very nice. It has the most comfertable seats. Although the rear seat can be hard to get into or out of, the car overall is excellent. I have no problems with the cars performance. Although the hp. is only 151 is seems like it has a lot of power. It is also very sporty, and you get a lot for the buck. Great stereo and air condition!!

Weakness:

The car is sometimes sluggish, and the breaks squeak constantly. The car is awesome, overall. Sometimes i have trouble getting out of the car. It is almost like the car hates to be left alone. SOmetimes the cars automatic locks close just as you open the door, making it somewhat impossible to get out. But i love the car!!!

The car is excellent. I have bought it second hand 3 years ago for $16,500 (originally $24500)and i havent had any major problems with it. It has an amazing air condition, and fits five comfertable. It is a 3.0 V6 engine (could be a little better) w/ a 151hp (also could be better)but overall i enjoy it alot. As a matter of fact i am looking into trading my current Quest in for a 2001 Model which i think is the best van ever. I am extremely dissapointed to hear that the quest will be taken off market after a short run in 2002, so hurry and get one because it is an awesome car.

I have really not used any similar products, but compared to other japanese (because it cant even compare to american cars [they suck]) the Quest is a great car. It has the best overall design, and although its a little smaller than the competitors, it is alot less money.

Strength:

Like the ride, very nice travel for family of 4. TV/VCR combo was a nice perk.(wish the screen was a little larger) Good sound system and good ventilation system. Very good engine power when needed. Like the removable seat option.

Weakness:

Tail/Brake lights seem to be blowing more frequently than normal. TV/VCR combo stopped working but was fixed promptly. Would like to see a little better gas milage around town. (12-14mpg) Highway mpg good at 22-23.

Very good product. I have enjoyed owning both Quests. They both seemed to have had a lot of recalls. They were handled well by our local dealership. I would by another when necessary and would recomend this product to anyone.

Strength:

Unique color (outback gold). Plenty of room. Numerous seat combinations.
Okay power. Smooth shifting.

Weakness:

Easily stained rug. Noisy while driving due to body flex. Lousy on bumpy roads.

Paid 22K new. Had 3 batteries go out in 4 years. Speedo went out several times the speed sensor was replaced twice only to find out it was a short.
Brake job and shocks replaced at 63k that seems normal. Audio system control on steering wheel stoped working after year one. Retractable antena replaced twice. All in all a good van would recommend it for family who needs room and likes to travel.

Strength:

My wife likes the way it drives. (not the large van feeling). We have a 25 min. drive to town & the van will hold a day of errands.

Weakness:

The front A/C is a little warm, while the back A/C blows cold air. A $80.00 visit to the nissan dealer said OH Well, thats the way it works. Breaks niosy. Van has died 2 times in 2 weeks. We let it sit for an 1/2 hour & then, it runs normal ??? I am not taking it back to the nissan that dealer.

I like the look on the van. It is a perfect size for my family.

Strength:

Handling, looks, ease of removing seat

Weakness:

Only one slider, and the "known bugs" including intermittent CEL (BPT hose gets a hole in it), rear blower failure, exhaust manifold studs breaking (I only have one broken, hope the others hold out...), locks with a mind of their own, and Nissan's "screw you" attitute once your vehicle is out of warrenty

Good Family car, has served us well. Purchased new in 1995, just turned 73K. It still looks like new. There are several resources on the internet dedicated to this vehicle and those have been helpful - many of the "known bugs" in this car we have experienced. It's not perfect, but our friends bought a Ford Windstar in '95 about the same time we did, and what a piece of junk that car is.....so I guess we did OK.

Strength:

My wife and I like the ride. Very little road noise. We particularly like the removable & movable bench seats. Don't ever have to use cargo carrier, lots of room for luggage, ice chest, etc.

Weakness:

Brakes squeel hot or cold, the automatic locks don't always open all doors. The rear HVAC stopped working and dealership unable to locate the problem. I've always like having wider tires for road handling, but, choices for Quest are limited due to tight wheel clearance. Wobbles badly when behind large trucks. My driver side door almost wants to come off in strong wind gusts - very nerve racking!

Looks nice, would like more power under the hood I would rate about a 3 star.

Strength:

Sound system and ride

Weakness:

Major transmission failures, eats up brake pads, failed rear main seal, SRS and ABS failed, and oh- FIRESTONE TIRES- the stock FR680s had thread separtion, and bad set of Wilderness HTs were used, got Pirelli P4000 instead. I would never buy a Quest again!

The Quest is built by Ford, and it was evident- the van was shoddily built, and we were almost killed by the Firestones Nissan used, we should have got the Toyota, and we regret this decision.

Strength:

Best value for your dollar compare to similar equipped on the market, power enough for full load, simple elegant design overall in and out. TV-VCP combo works great with kids. Turn signale shine the same direction it's turning instead of the conventional brinking. Option paid fot the van were second air condition, audio control steering wheel with leather, dealer installed non factory CD changer, all for 24000 out of the door.

Weakness:

Front brakes have off and on squeaky noise since new and still has it after several attempt fix by dealer, check with other Quest owners realize this is common so I give up to look for the cause, cheap OEM tires, blew one into pieces on freeway. Factory CD changer should be option, dealer installed one but OEM faceplate control does not apply. Bigger TV screen would be nice.

Above average look, above average value, above average reliability, average power, below par brake pads, below par tires. For about $2000 more, should go for SE.

Strength:

Good riding car, comfortable on long trips, looks still ok after all these years. Not bad handling. Like everything else but the transmission

Weakness:

Transmission problems. The van has 66K miles (avg 10K/yr), garage kept, always maintained. Just took it in and found out the inner planatary is gone. Have metal shaving all over the tranny. Was told that the Nissan's have always had tranny lubrication problems.

Everything is fine except for the transmission.
