Nissan Quest (2009 and older) Minivans | Wagons

Nissan Quest (2009 and older) Minivans | Wagons

DESCRIPTION

The 2009 Nissan Quest continues as the most distinctive and original minivan on the market – as well as one of the roomiest minivans in its segment. Following a major redesign just two years ago, changes for 2009 are minimal. The 2009 Quest is offered in four well-equipped models – 3.5, 3.5S, 3.5SL and 3.5SE.

The Nissan Quest powertrain comes from its standard 235-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, 5-speed automatic transmission and responsive suspension design. A Traction Control System (TCS) is also standard, while Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) is standard on the 3.5 SE model.

Road car handling is not an afterthought with the Quest. The Nissan Quest features a 4-wheel independent suspension with a rear multi-link design and front and rear stabilizer bars. Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is also standard, along with 4-wheel vented disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD).

Standard Quest safety features include Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors, front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags for outboard occupant head protection for all three rows, front seat Active Head Restraints and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Weakness:

Gas mileage...but I do drive pretty fast..

Well I have owned my Quest for over 2 years now and I am still in love. I went to the dealership with the purpose of buying the new Maxima but was swayed by way of options and price to purchase my Quest. I have the two toned model which is beautiful and I have all the options most of my friends and family don''t have and piad more for. The fast V6 engine, a real TV(not just a monitor)/VCR combination, leather seats, captain chairs (which my 7 year old loves), sunroof, CD/cassette player and (yes I said and) 6 CD changer, power everything.. I was thinking about trading my van in for a newer model but every dealership I go to is surprised at the options I received for the price I paid and the model I own. I LOVE DOWNTOWN MOTORS. I have never had any major problems with my van and I do not anticipate any problems.

Strength:

Smooth Ride,Drives like a car, dependable, and reliable. I driven it for over eight years and over 100,000 miles and have never had a problem with it.

Weakness:

Dose not come with a full size spair tire.

We first fell in love with the Nissan Quest MiniVan in January 1993. I had a two year old and a four month old baby at the time I was looking for a good family car that I could drive for five to six years with out problems and that my family could fit comfortable inn. I test drove the Mazda and the Toyota Privia Minivans that where the bombs back then. The Quest drove like a car smooth and fast with a V6 engine. We purchased it and where the envy of all are friend. We have five other friends that purchase the Quest after seeing ours. Nissan set the standard for mini-vans with the Quest everyone else copied the Quest like Ford,Chevy,Dodge,Chrysler,Honda, and so on.The Quest whas the first. I still have my Quest it has over 100,000 miles on it. I have never had to do anything major repair to it just the normal stuff. Like oil changes when ever I remember to do so. The Brakes,Battery, and Tires. Oh I did change the Timing Belt just to do it because it had over 90,000 miles on it and I felt it should be done. The Mechanic showed it to me when he pulled it out, it was still in great shape. We have three children now and where in the market for another family car after my Ford work van took a !@%# out in the middle of the expressway. After looking at the Honda,Toyota,Kia,Crysler,Ford, and Dodge Mini Vans. The best ride and price was the Nissan Quest GLE loaded with everything Leather, CD Changer,VCR-TV,The Looks,The Ride and other littel things that the others did not offer for the price. So We whent out and bought another Quest. The Kids love it. My family highly recommends the Quest.

Strength:

Ride, solid feel--much more so than others. Price was good for quality. Acceleration is good. Video is awesome.

Weakness:

Minor. Emergency brake sticks out too far and I have hit my leg on it twice--ouch. Seats are a little bulky and hard to manuever around compared to Mazda. No fold down back seat, but probably not as big of a deal as I originally thought.

GXE two weeks old and so far we love it. We drove em all except Chrysler (which my wife won''t touch do to an extremely bad Shadow experience) and liked it the best overall. Almost bought the MPV, but the engine was just too sluggish. Nissan was packed with a visit to the zoo and climbed the steepest incline with ease. Thought the Sienna was probably the best van, but it was too expensive. Kia Sedona was surprisingly a good one as well. We love the Quest. We were surprised that the nearly identical Villagers were priced a lot higher.

Strength:

everything (except door locks)

Weakness:

door locks

I had my Quest for 3 1/12 yrs and LOVED it. The only problem I had with it was the door locks would lock by themself sometimes making it hard to get out of the van. Quite frankly I can''t see why anyone would complain about this van it''s the best automobile I have ever owned. As far as the door locks are concerned the dealership fixed them but they were not fixed for very long, I learned to live with it and never leave my keys in it. The only reason I am not driving it anymore is because I rear-ended someone and it should have been totaled but the body shop decided they would fix it and I was worried that it would give me problems later on because of the wreck. In the wreck the van did what it was suppose to do, the front cruppled, the air bags came out, and my 3 yr old daugther and I were both unharmed. So the van was badly damaged, it kept my daughter and I safe and life is more precious to me than any van. If it was not for the wreck I would still be driving my Quest without a doubt. I LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT.

Strength:

reliability, comfort, power, appearance

Weakness:

a bit small.

Here''s update to a previous review: We now have put over 20,00 more miles (up to 62k) on our Quest. Everything is going very well. Now that the road work is done in our neighborhood and the accompanying dust is gone, there''s no more brake squeal. The mileage is still fair, 19 to 24, depending on conditions. Everything works, and it still drives well and quietly. As an aside, I recently spoke with a fleet owner who told me thgat all the Fords and Chyslers products he had could not compare to his own Quest. His has 175k on it and nothing has had to be done to it. The others all went through transmissions withing 50 to 70k miles.

Strength:

Smooth ride,entertainment package .

Weakness:

Doors missaligned from factory and they attempted to fix them and repaint the doors due to major chipping of the paint, but they failed and the paint job is messy and silver over spray all over the van,and paint is still chipping. The rear bushing fell off and the repaired this is common the say and front bushing repaired also three times and that did not fix the ticking clicking noises it makes and they are giving us the runaround to replace this van.The customer service stinks and so does nissan reps they get nothing accomplished.Nothing but trouble in the 3 and ahalf months we own this van, been in the shop 7 times.

We loved the car when we bought it initially, smooth ride entertainment package is great, perfect size for our family of 5.Drives like a car not a truck.

Weakness:

Doors never want to stay unlocked. Last night, I went out to get a wrench from my car, closed the door to keep bugs out while looking for tool, didn''t have keys with me, and after finding the wrench, it took me almost 30 MINUTES to get the doors talked into staying unlocked long enough for me to be able to open the door to get out. Compared to ''91 Caravan I had, Quest''s milage SUCKS 17 mpg compared to Caravan''s 21 - 22 mpg under same driving conditions and same travel route/style. Cruise control doesn''t always stay set. Sometimes turns itself off during use, other times will hold speed for a few minutes then decide that it wants to drive faster. I had it once where the cruise control refused to cancel when I had to make an emergency stop to avoid a car that pulled out in front of me. (nearly caused an accident! Only saving grace was the shallow ditch I was able to drive through and maintain control.) If Nissan and dealer would work with me to get me some paper proof of the factory installed security system, I could save almost $250 per year in insurance cost.

If I had a time machine I''d go back and buy the Chrystler I was also looking at at the time.

best looking van and I love the way It handles

Weakness:

nissan customer service.

I love the van but nissan sucks on customer servise. I have seen
other vans just like mine with the same FACTORY PAINT problem!
the paint bubbles up and flakes off on hatch at crease. nissan
wont touch. If it wasnt a factory problem I would have no grip.
I have had other nissans in the past and love them. BUT, I will
not buy another because of there unwillingness to fix a factory
paint problem. I have seen two other van, same year, with same
problem. I couldnt get help from there consummer affairs rep. eather.
they said that I must be putting chemicals on the paint! and then hung up!
Rude and there must be a rash uf us loonie out there putting chemicals on our vans!

Dependability, quality parts, outstanding workmanship, excellent braking system, well layed out console, riding confort, excellent accessories(ie, cruise cintrol, radio, tape deck, wiper system)

Weakness:

we do experience some difficulty in controling a constant temperature range when operating the air conditioning(I sometmes think it is because we are not performing the correct task in setting it up)

This car was purchased in Arizona and after moving back to the east coast, has been used for six round trips across the United States. We have 201,040 miles on the van and it is operating almost as well as the day we purchased it. Our travels all over the country require that the van is fully loaded and operates at high weight levels. It has been dependable beyond belief(we departed the east coast for Az this year with 180,000 miles on the car). We have insured that good preventative maintenance practices are followed with regard to oil changes, coolent replacement, brake lining, ,timing belt, drive belts, etc. The van still has the original equipment strut/coil suspension in place and rides very well

Strength:

-In my opinion, the best looks of any minivan out there
-Reliable Nissan Engine
-The Sunroof is a nice feature
-Does not drive like a minivan

Weakness:

-The brakes had to be replaced already, probably due to cheap original pads.
-Just a few weeks ago, the alarm decided to randomly go off for literally 10 minutes and could not be shut off by using the controller.
-The major problem with this van is RATTLING. I don't know if this is true of the GXE/GLE models as well, but the Captain's Chairs rattle LOUDLY and rather violently on regular bumps. Certainly, you are going to encounter some sort of roughness on bad bumps, but this is just unacceptable. When someone is in the seats, they do not rattle as much, but you can look back SEE them ratting when the seats are empty. Other minor rattles are noticeable on bumpy roads (the back bench sometimes, and also the sliding doors), and the car does not have a very solid feel because of this.

Nissan is known for making reliable products, and our previous Quest was a great van that gave us very few problems. However, the rattling problem gets very annoying. It really is a shame, because this is a great looking minivan with nice features (sunroof, CD Changer, etc.), but it has gotten to the point where we are looking to trade it in.

Similar Products Used:

Compared to our previous 1994 Quest, this van is pretty low quality. The engine runs great and it is rather fun to drive, but it gets VERY annoying hearing the seats and doors rattle each time you hit even moderate bumps.
