NONE!!!
Weakness:
We have had nothing but problems with our Quest. Our van accelerates for no reason when it is cold. Even when you put it in neutral it doesn't stop. Nissan claimed we just didn't know how to drive. We have had three entertainment centers replaced in our van in the first three months. (Once again they claimed it was our fault.) The air bag cover started coming up. The interior door panel is coming loose. The dash is separating in the gauge area. The replacement panel they got for the air bag was a different color. Now the stereo blows fuses everytime you turn it on. Does not have rear heat for the children. This is the worst purchase we have ever made. Please, Please if you're thinking about buying a Quest...DON'T. Save the money and buy a Dodge! Similar Products Used: Plymouth Grand Voyager 1999 excelled the Quest in EVERY way. |

Strength:
Drives well but workmanship is lousy. Everything looks, feels and operates very cheaply.
Weakness:
Biggest concern is the problem with the doors occasionally automatically locking themselves when I close the driver side door. Upon several complaints to the dealership, was only told that they couldn't fix the problem unless it happened in their presence. And of course intermitten problems never seem to arise when you need them to. I was just relieved to see that my van was not the only one with this problem (according to other postings on this site). We've had other problems as well, such as the windshield washer fluid doesn't come out immediately - you usually end up having to "pump" the button to get it to work. Forget about moving the rear seat to the middle position or otherwise - mine doesn't latch itself into place automatically - something must be wrong with the latching mechanisms because it takes about 10 minutes of shaking and rattling the seat before the little hinge finally lets itself down to lock in place. Make sure you have your tires rotated VERY FREQUENTLY - the rear end of Quest is very light, and your tires will "butterfly" if you don't rotate them frequently... this will lead to a vibrating noise from the backend and a bouncy ride in the back as well. Also, this vehicle seems to go through brake pads like crazy. Even with brand new "factory" brake pads, don't ever expect nice quiet braking. Speaking of noise, I hope you don't mind it - because you hear plenty of road noise in this vehicle... The Quest was reasonable in price, and provided the VERY basics of what I needed. If you're on a budget and you need a vehicle larger than a regular 4-door car, go with the Quest. But just don't expect it to give you much in return. It will get you around town just fine, but you just have to be prepared to be patient and ready to deal with it's quirky personality. Similar Products Used: First mini-van ever owned. Won't buy another Quest -- probably will opt for a Honda Odyssey instead. Have found that Hondas seem to just run forever. |

Price and new crash test ratings, excellent ride. Seat System is great
Weakness:
Engine-Needs more power, Discontinued after 2002, Assembled by Ford, Great Mini-Van after 2000 miles in one month. I think we will be driving this one till the wheels fall off. I recommend the SE Model, the Sporty supension rides a lot firmer than most of the other Mini's including the GXE and GLE Quests. Workmanship - failed Thottle position sensor (smog so only 24 month/24000 mile), AC hose, hatch and slider lock mechanisms and other known defects: Nissan does not care about the product after your warranty is up so I hope you have $$ and time to deal with dealer service fustrations. When the Quest is used on trips there is always a slight shake/shimmy in the front even after alignment and new tires just balanced - not bad but you know its there. If you live on rough roads the noise is transmitted into the passenger compartment as a hum. Does hold the road well in wind and heavy rains. Kids love the entertainment center, I like the way it handles (turning radious, suspension) Similar Products Used: Toyota, Honda, Mazda - Toyota & Honda, bigger possibly better product but also much, much pricier. |

This mini-van is just the right size and it handles well. The ride is smooth and the interior is comfortable. The radio/tape player is quite good. The front seats have multiple adjustments and are very pleasing to my back. We have the Captain's chairs in the middle and it keeps the kids comfortable and SEPARATED! The cargo space is very flexible. I can take my son to college in one trip.
Weakness:
The exhaust, from behind the catalytic converter, needs replacing every three years. My wife drives this car just around town and does not warm the engine adequatly much of the time and this is part of the problem. The rear tires wear poorly (cupping) and this causes a poor ride. Rotate the tires OFTEN!. We should have purchased leather seats, but they were not offered at the time. I would get another one if the price was right (Low). I would definitely get the leather seats. My wife is small (105 lbs and 5'2". She likes this van bacause she can adjust the seating to accomodate her (See over the wheel and reach the pedals). Similar Products Used: We rented a Windstar for a week when the Quest had hail damage. The Quest is better unless you need a ton of room. |

Weakness:
Having to go so many times to the dealership for minor repairs or adjustments because of the noises, front vibration or recalls. We have had three recalls in the 1.5 yr since we bought the vehicle. The latest recall has to do with the possibility of loosing control of the vehicle as the steering culumn bolts may have not been torqued right. The front was shaking at 60-70 mph. This was fixed by the technician. I must admit that the dealership has been very good to us, but the product stinks. We just learned that the value of our van is approximately half the price of what we bought the vehicle for, 1.5 yr ago(from 33K to 17.5K Cdn). We still have a loan of 30K Cdn. We have lost confidence in the vehicle and just want to get ride of it. No resale value Similar Products Used: Toyota Sienna. I just went for a drive in a 2001 Sienna LE with the LE package. The van is much better than our's, in the areas of: power, confort and handling. If it was possible to do so, we would like to go back in time and acquire a Sienna instead of this paper weight. |

Strength:
I like it's calm road manners, it's smooth ride and it's reliability. The radio is O.K., as are the seats and the body's look and shape. This car is pretty good for long trips also.
Weakness:
First and foremost, THE ENGINE IS SOOOO WEAK! If Nissan was looking to make an engine that put out 150 HP, why not use the more fuel efficient 2.4 liter in the Altima? Also, it's high center of gravity makes this the anti-driver's car, and pushes one to drive it as the authorities want people to. The lack of ABS and four wheel disc brakes equal horrible brake performance, and the horrible chassis combined with a mushy suspension make for a boring ride. If you plan to take long trips at high speeds(e.g. anything over 45 mph) be wary, as the Quest's low end torque dissappears at high speeds. As a performance lover, I can't like the Quest. As far as it's get-from-point-A-to-point-B factor, I can't argue. It does that job with comfort and reliability, and with up to seven people packed in it as well. However, it lets you know its limits early, and hates being pushed. Whenever I drive a car, I find its limit 'comfort speed'. This is the speed at which the car stops being friendly and slows down in acceleration. In the Maxima, there is no 'comfort speed'; it just keeps accelerating until the pavement ends. The Pathfinder is a Jeep; it can't be asked too much as far as acceleration goes. But the Quest begins to complain around 40mph. I don't know whether the final gear is too tall or if physics won't let this van keep accelerating, but if you plan to drive this, keep it around town or don't expect any breath-taking experiences. Maybe Nissan will get smart and separate this well-built van from Mercury's and put in the 227HP Maxima engine in...but time will tell. Anyway, it's a great car for anyone who hates driving or isn't particular to going fast. It gets you and any other six people where you want to go in a reasonable amount of time with comfort, great A/C and heating, and a small hint of style. Similar Products Used: 1995 Nissan Maxima SE, 5 speed and 1998 Pathfinder LE. Let's not speak of the Maxima, as it wouldn't be fair. Compared to the Pathfinder, it's a little slower, but the steering is much less tiring, and the inside is much roomier. However, the Quest only comes in front-wheel drive and an automatic which equals interesting drives during the winter. |
