Strength:
overal style and interior is what we liked most of all.it doesnt have the minivan look inside its like any other nissan car...stylish...we bought the se model so it has alot of great features that many other vans dont have...rear a/c alarm sys...and much more...the video system is great..we looked at honda, mazda, toyota and none of these compared to the nissan in our eyes...sound system is very good for a family van...7 speakers and bass so u can crank up any of your favorites..this se model has many great features to it but there are too many to list so go check the quest out you will see you get more bang for the buck with nissani
Weakness:
the only weakness i have with this van is its too noisy on bumpy roads...but with the se model u get a tighter sport suspension which causes the noise so if u choose the gxe or le it would be a better ride..i do wish the 3rd row seat would fold down like in other vanss by far in our eyes the best looking minivan out there. this van has luxury style in the interior.compared to other vans that have a very basic boring style inside.the van was 27,000 we paid 23700...be sure to use the internet pricing at dealers you will get your best deal going thru the internet sales manager. overall had the van 5 months and my wife loves it very spacious and rides great.. |

Strength:
It has been mechanically reliable and we did not have any work to do in 4 years. The dual a/c is great. The compact size is easy to fit into any garage.
Weakness:
The cup holders stink. The tv that came for free with the van is a joke because it is not hardwired to the car and the plug pulls out of the cigarette lighter too easily. It drives okay, but not really like a car. Certainly better than an SUV. I hated having to lug out the heavy middle seat when we needed more cargo space. It was AWFUL. The seats are not the most comfortable. Don't try and save money - go for the best van. I don't love this van at all. I have owned other Nissans and was very happy, but this van is not the Odyssey by any means. True, you pay less for it, but you get what you pay for. Similar Products Used: My next van will be the Odyssey - and it will be worth every penny. I got the Nissan because it was cheap, and I got what I paid for. |

Mercury Villager Premium Estate
Strength:
Great ride - almost like a car. Much better than the Windstars and Aerostars I have driven. Acceleration is more than adequate for my needs but then I am used to vans so I may be easily pleased. The Estate has all the bells and whistles and is very well made on the surface - time will tell on the engine and transmission, etc., but so far I am very pleased. Even with the older body style this Estate it is STILL as goodlooking and maybe better looking than most any van out there. All but the most expensive Town and Country looks plain next to it.
Weakness:
A tad small. We had two Aerostars and two Windstars before this so we were used to big vans, but with a luggage carrier on the roof for long trips this van is more than adequate for us and our three kids. We just bought this car and I LOVE it. Granted, we got a great deal because we were related to an employee of the dealer (the Ford employee discount plus the rebate gave us the van at about four grand under invoice), so I may be somewhat more excited than normal, but this van has everything. Handling (SE Model) Smooth Transmission Good Value (options) Comfortable Driver Seat (adjustable lumbar support)
Weakness:
So-so Power Poor Safety Rating Rear Seat Removability My wife and I just bought a 1999 Quest SE with quad seating, power driver's seat, power sun roof. The milage was 30,000 and it has dual sliding doors-good options for the prive. My first pick was the Sienna because it has the safety and reliability of a Odysee, but is not quite as expensive. A similiarly priced Sienna with dual doors and quad seating is usually a year older, with 50,000 miles and no sun roof or power seat. The Toyota did not have adjustable lumbar support, either. The SE package also makes it handle very well for a van. The major drawback to this van is that the rear seat can not be removed. We have one kid (for now) and only need one rear seat; on long trips, it would be nice to remove one middle captain's chair and the rear bench (like you can in the Sienna). In the Quest, you remove both captain's chairs and slide the bench up-you loose cargo space because you can't fold up the seat and carry a child at the same time. Keep in mind that the video system is a no-cost option for 2000 model years, maby 1999 too. Don't get succered into paying through the nose for that option! Similar Products Used: Test Drove Town and Country (very nice instrument/control layout, ok power I didn't trust american transmission) Test Drove Sienna (Nice van, more power did not handle as well as Quest, too expensive |

Attractive, more compact than competitors.smooth quiet engine,
Weakness:
Gas mileage, Seats not as comfortable as Plymouth.Needs a screen in front of the A/C rad. opening. Purchased used 1998 Quest,88500 klms I was attracted to the smaller size. Similar Products Used: Plymouth Grand Voyager LE. It''s not fair to compare these two vans, As the Plymouth was top of the line & was the most comfortable vechicle I have ever driven. But had it''s quailty problems. |

Quest SE
Strength:
Drives like a car, adequate accel., and especially good looks!
Weakness:
Gas pedal sticks, stiff ride (SE model) because of the "sport-tuned suspension". The Nissan Quest is a great all-around minivan. Ours came with an entertainment system at no extra charge. We love the sliding rear bench seat but wish you could take the seat out all together. Te auto-off headlights equipped on our minivan were a convenience. With a sticker price of about 26K, the Quest is an excellent value over the Chrysler minivans. Similar Products Used: N/A |

Quiet, comfortable ride
Weakness:
Too much ford and nissan put together I bought this overpriced vehicle in 97 with 46000 miles on it. It has the 3,0 Nissan engine. Initialy it was fine, then the cassette went out, then the CD went out, then the AC, then the antena, then the manifold gasket. All of this stuff is $500. The ultimate was at 300 miles past my warrenty, at 86k miles, the crankshaft broke. I changed the oil every 3 to 4000 miles with this junk oil that everyone peddles now-a-days. Anyway, I put a used engine in it. The tranny was getting funny, then the ignition switch was threatening to go out. I traded it for a Dodge, still owing $8800. Similar Products Used: minivan |

Quest GXE
Strength:
Peppy engine. Logical and quiet controls. Love the climate control system. TONS of goodies. Well lit when interior lights are pressed. Very smooth engine; often wonder if it is running. Shifts very smoothly as it should. I like the cornering lights when the turn signals are on. The retractable rear wiper is pretty "trick" when opening the rear window. Well illuminated instruments and controls at night. The power vent windows beat the heck out of my old MPV. Rides quietly and smoothly. The aluminum wheels are beautiful! MPG in town does not live up to it''s 17 MPG billing. Haven''t been on the interstate yet. I have not experienced (nor did the previous owner) the problem with the door locks as reported by others. The security system activates/deactivates from great distances...slick.
Weakness:
The cupholders are VERY cheap. Almost in my opinion useless and scary with a full cup of coffee. I wish the CD player would resume without pushing the button upon restarting the vehicle. The armrest does not move with the seat bottom and can create uncomfortable positioning when adjusted to extreme up or down. Leaning back the driver''s seat with the power button is too time consuming. Should be manually adjustable so it would be quicker. Wish the interior was darker as the light gray gets dirty VERY easily. The pullout cubby under the passenger seat should be on ball bearing slides, not the cheap arrangement it has as it hangs up when pulling it out. Wish it had two sliding doors (as the 99 up do). Engine could be a little quicker, but is OK as is (read MAXIMA setup). Excellent Value for the money. Mine is a GXE with the E10 two-tone paint; R03 Handling Package (bigger tires, performance shocks, rear stabilizer); and V01 Luxury Package (moonroof, climate control, 6 disc CD). It retailed for $28,149. I have read all of the reviews on this site and must disagree with all of the naysayers. I love this van so far. It has 82K miles on it and is absolutely loaded with the exception of Leather Package. It is peppy and quiet. The controls have excellent tactile feel and visibility. The stereo is probably the best OEM stereo I have owned (but not heard). Ford''s Mach System is probably better. Overall, not as sturdy hardware-wise as my MPV was. Put the component durability of the MPV with the techno of the Quest, and I would be in absolute heaven!! Similar Products Used: 1992 Mazda MPV. Another great van, just another flavor. |

Strength:
Smooth engine, no rust after 7 years, it drives very nice, quality throughout.
Weakness:
The back windshield wiper never has worked well, 3 fuel injectors went bad at 70,000 miles out of warranty. Minor emmission problems that was taken care of under warranty. Lots of road noise and the windshield whistles at hiway speeds. We bought a 1995 Quest new and have 87,000 miles on it. It''s been a great family van and drives like a dream machine. It blew away all other mini-vans in 1995 and the newer ones should be good to. We have a decent service Dept. at our Nissan dealer which helps alot for regular maintenance. Too bad the auto industry is so biased against this van though! Similar Products Used: We haved looked at them all. |
