Nissan Quest GXE
Strength:
The GXE has an excellent interior that has worn remarkably well. The exterior has no rust (even though we live on the coast). Powerful engine, comfortable, quiet, good service record, reliable.
Weakness:
A few electrical problems: tachometer sometimes decides not to work, the stereo's left speaker does not want to work when a tape is played, and window washer pump switch is irritable. There is not much room for luggage for six (we used a car-top carrier for trips), leg room is tight in the back seats for teens and adults. An excellent van with a comfortable, car-like feel. We bought it new and have put 140K miles on it with a family of six. It still looks like new inside and out with a quiet ride and reliable engine. We have had very few engine/body problems beyond normal maintenance. We couldn't have asked for a better van to raise a family with. Similar Products Used: Have driven a Previa and the Quest is comparable. I found that the GXE is far superior to the XE. |

Strength:
Superb handling. Small enough to handle like a car. Large enough for van-like space and view of the road.
Weakness:
Car has a whine in transmission -- admitted by service dep't after several years. They say all Quests have it. Most wonderful vehicle I have owned. Comfort, control and space are marvelous. After I test drove a Quest, I loved the feel and handling of the vehicle. Other van characteristics were icing on the cake. It's a handy vehicle. Similar Products Used: First van. Owned two Nissan trucks - Excellent. Several Chevrolets - fair to bad experiences. |

Gas is 23 MPG hiway, in town about 20
Weakness:
3 recalls, tires are very sentisve to tire press. Best at Mfg press. of 33# Accelator sticks so it is hard to start out smoothly. I like the drive, handling, seats Looks good, roomy and easy to see out.Engine has enough pep. Be sure to put only 33lbs in the tires. Similar Products Used: Nissan Altima which we also liked. 103,000 miles with no major problems. |

Strength:
Comfort, love the little gadgets, sound system is great, drives wonderfully the tv helps on long trips and all the compartments to put stuff in. The kids love it also.
Weakness:
It only get 19 mpg and sticker said it would get up to 23 on the highway. Service manager said that is just number that is put there. HUH??? Anyways I would have liked to get better gas mileage. I also have heard to check tire pressure on hwy trips as this will help alot. It does make different noices, we have had to have a middle window replace because there was never a seal put in it and it make alot of noise and slider doors need more stripping because they are making some noise. Passenger slider door would stick in hot weather. We really reviewed alot of mini vans and test drove also. We hated the odyssy it was a tin can and there was alot it did not have..you had to pay so much for the "extras" and order it sight unseen. The American vans just were not trustworthy. I have had too many problems with American cars. The Toyota had to many complaints about their trannys. So we went with our with our 94 Nissan quest and decided to see what their 02's were like. Now most know that the quest are smaller. The 02's are a bit larger. But not as big as most other vans, same year. We loved it at first sight. It was not a tin can, it was so comfortable, it just was much better than the other ones we had looked at. We almost bought a Odyssy until we got in one and almost did not buy a quest until we got into one. It is a GREAT van. Similar Products Used: We owned a 94 quest and it was ok just too small with just one slider which made it hard to get all the kids (2) babies in the car. |

Strength:
Despite its rough life, it is not falling apart; and have had no major problems (neither myself nor my friend (previous owner). Numerous friends with other brand vans/suv experience many for problems that myself and previous owner of this van.
Weakness:
Brakes are a little spooker in wet weather. Middle seat is difficult to move (sliding middle seat). The fact that numberous parts on the vehicle are Ford parts (poor quality). Headlights are developing strange foggy tint; but they are made by ford. Had to replace the radio because it was a piece of junk (also made by Ford). Also have a Maxima - the respective parts are of better quality. Seats (comfort) are not ideal for long trips - this has probably been corrected on newer models. Bought this van from a friend. Bought it for utility purposes but enjoy driving it very much. The previous owner (a friend) was very hard on this van (rode hard to say the least). However, I gave the van a makeover (some minor maintenance, paint job and thurough detail. It was purchased as a second vehicle, but I prefer driving it. Seems to stand up to just about anything. Weakness:
The vehicle in Gerneral This is the worst vehicle I have ever paid for in my life. Do not buy this minivan and if someone wants to give you one tell them they have to pay you to take it off their hands. I have had problems with the breaks, the video machine had to be replaced 3 times, the interior consoles are made of very cheap plastic and break if you close them the way you have to close them, the batery died after less than two years and they want to charge you 75 to give you a new one because the warranty does not cover it. I could go on with more but I only get 4000 characters. |

Strength:
It looks good.
Weakness:
Front seats are balding in the seams. Beware, I went to two dealers and looked at brand new Quests and noticed that some were starting to bald in the seams and they were not even registered yet. This is still an on going thing with nissan. The dealers on Long Island dont want anything thing to do with this problem cause they would rather make money on easier problems. This problem is only on the GXE This is our second Quest. The first was a 1995 we bought new in 1995. We loved it. Then we bought a new 2002.This was a mistake. This vehicle is horrible, nothing like the 1995. The ride and craftsmanship. The two front seats are balding in the seams and Nissan said they wouldnt fix them. Similar Products Used: Sorry to say I feel like Nissan let me down and I bought two new vehicles from them this year. Its a dam shame. Iam buying Toyota next time. |

Strength:
I am a nut for reliability, and I am glad to see the other general favorable reviews. I bought it for that reason. It has a decent ride, lots of power, when you need it. Its easy to control and park, and fits nicely in a garage.
Weakness:
Brakes growl a bit (so does our Honda and soi did my vw, Ford, and friends Chevy.- It's the new brake pads, folks, most cars do it these days) , but they work great (had to panic stop the other day, and it went straight and true). Radio presets give me a bother now and then. Middle seat is heavy, and most people will need some help (maybe newer models are better). This is an update on a long past post. Our Quest now has 85k on it and is going great. We bought it used in perfect condition at 42k and are very happy w/ it. If I had gone w/ a Ford, Dodge or Chrysler, I would be putting in a transmission already, and if I had gotten a Honda or Toyota, I would still be paying for it. Similar Products Used: Dodge vans (tranny at 50k), GM vans (too mushy in the tranny and suspension). |

Strength:
good, strong engine. have had no mechanical problems.
Weakness:
poor braking, electrical problems. Bought the van used @ 32,000 miles. agree with others in that middle seats are way too heavy for most people to try and remove. for most part has been been good vehicle with the exception of very poor braking in spite of having the brakes completely serviced. now that van is at 89,000 miles am experiencing very unusual electrical problems. van like to lock and unlock itself at its' own will.
